In this episode, we present to you a supercut of my performance of the MyHouse.WAD journal entries, written by Veddge for the doomworld forums!
MyHouse.WAD is both a Doom mod, and a work of unfiction, with ARG elements. Along with the game files is a txt file with a series of devlogs that occur over the course of about half a year. Suffice to say this is a sort of… reimagined version of those logs. If you’re on headphones be prepared for the occasional loud or distorted audio.
I had originally bridged the gap to season two of this show with daily uploads of these journal entries for two reasons. First, this podcast began as an entirely videogame-related endeavor, and I don’t see that ever fully changing.
Second, because I wanted you to consider: what is it that makes unfiction or even fanfiction separate from other kinds of narrative?

In this episode, we present Haita the Shepherd, written in 1891 by Ambrose Bierce.
After publishing the work we covered in the previous episode, An Inhabitant of Carcosa, Bierce went on a prolific spree of psychological horror shorts and scathing editorials, which cut vehemently at every aspect of Gilded Age American life.
The apparent lack of joy, or even contentment, in the union veteran’s worldview, and specifically his coverage of President McKinley’s assassination, would earn him the nickname “Bitter Bierce”.

In this episode, we present An Inhabitant of Carcosa, written in 1886 by Ambrose Bierce.
This story takes place in… well, I guess you’ll have to find out, but the setting - along with many of Bierce’s other works, would go on to inspire Robert W. Chambers in the creation of his meta-fictional play, The King in Yellow, which you may recognize from modern works of existential horror such as True Detective.
Much like Bierce’s other stories, An Inhabitant of Carcosa confronts the de facto horror of mere existence, and how that horror is amplified by the mind’s persistence.

And for those of you who found the 36 Lessons of Vivec a bit… cerebral, don’t worry. This one reads very much like a standard novel, and I really think you can enjoy the full experience without knowing anything about The Elder Scrolls.

Today, we’re officially halfway through the 36 Lessons of Vivec! In Sermon 17 Nerevar and Vivec go on a road trip around the cosmos, and in Sermon 18 Vivec begins his quest to clean up the mess he made by umm… marrying… Molag Bal.
Today, we’ll be performing Sermon 15 and 16 of the 36 Lessons of Vivec from The Elder Scrolls series. Sermon 15 marks the first appearance of the Sharmat, Dagoth Ur, whom you may recognize as Morrowind’s primary antagonist. And in Sermon 16, the Nerevar gets to show off his axe.
In today's excerpt from the 36 Lessons of Vivec, we’ve got another cryptic speech from our favorite warrior-poet, and another weird story about god love that comes with a blanket content warning! I hope this isn’t a pattern…
Today we’ve got the first of a trilogy of Sermon On The Mount - style deliverances from Vivec, and then a rather questionable story about the warrior-poet hooking up with an evil god. So be prepared for even more symbolism than usual, and blanket content warning for the second half.
This is a little bonus episode we recorded a few weeks ago, and you’ll notice it’s much longer than usual! Dipping our toes once again into the 36 Lessons of Vivec from the Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, today we bring you Sermon 10. In game, this one is meant to read as sort of a letter to the reader, and I think that makes it a great place to dog-ear this particular lore book for later.
We’re back again with the 36 Lessons of Vivec from the Elder Scrolls: Morrowind. Today we’ve got Sermon 9 ready for your lore-thirsty ears, so sit back, relax, and listen to these demigods do their thing.
Today we’re continuing the 36 Lessons of Vivec from the Elder Scrolls: Morrowind with Sermon 8. This is an important scene in the book, the moment of Vivec’s… birth?
We’re well into the 36 Lessons of Vivec from the Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, and that continues with Sermons 6 and 7. I’ve combined these because they’re each a little shorter and they’re both sort of ‘B’ plot entries that provide context for Vivec’s journey to godhood in the later sermons.
Today we continue the 36 Lessons of Vivec from the Elder Scrolls: Morrowind with Sermon 5. This one describes a pivotal moment, a sort of first domino in the series of events that lead to Morrowind’s main story: the fortuitous meeting of Vivec and Nerever.
Much like Vvardenfell's Cliff Racer population in the Third Era, the 36 Lessons of Vivec may seem endless, but today we'll continue to cut through this text with Sermon 4.
