On today’s episode, Dr. Wright introduces the idea of ‘money stories.’ Join her as she reaches back into her past to explore her relationship with money, as well as learn how to uncover your money story and, most importantly, how to write the next chapter.
Here are the questions that Dr. Wright suggests you begin with to start the process:
How do you feel when you earn money? When you save it? How do you feel when you spend it? How do you feel when you borrow it?
What things stood out to you about money in your past? How did your family handle money? How did the way your family talked about money change in different phases of your life?
What things regarding money were unspoken but meant to be understood? What phrase did you constantly hear?
What did your mother or father tell you about money? Did they give you any lessons that stuck with you? What role did they play in the family finances? Were they the earners or the spenders? How did your grandparents, aunts, uncles, or siblings deal with money?
What about your friends growing up? Are there any memories surrounding money that you remember involving them? Did they have things that you didn’t have?
