In this episode of Cheap Therapy Podcast, we brought in a very close friend, Chase Turner. Chase and I served in the Marine Corps together, and we outline our relationship, and our different experiences in the Marine Corps.
Chase was my company Gunnery Sgt, and has since gotten out the Marine Corps. Chase is now Active Duty in the Army as a recruiter in the state of Texas. We discuss our different experiences, what he looks for in potential candidates from new enlistees, prior service, and officers. We also talk about education and benefits from the National Guard, and Marine Corps (Active and Reserves).
In this episode, we brought in Gabe Brace, the President of Brace Built in Garland, TX.
Brace Built is a firearm manufacturer and OEM product supplier for multiple firearm manufacturers across the world.
We really discuss different challenges that a firearm manufacturer faces during day-to-day operations, as well as what makes a Brace Built rifle different from a DIY built rifle that your buddy can build in his garage. He takes us through the process of manufacturing parts from raw materials, into a tested, guaranteed product.
In this episode, we brought in 2nd LT Wesley Lejeune of the LA National Guard. Wesley and I were brought up in the Marine Corps together and have a ton of shared experiences, most of which have to do with training Marines. About the time that I was deciding to get out of the Marine Corps, Wesley decided a different path; to chase a commission and become a LT in the National Guard. We really talk about those 2 separate decisions, and how they molded Wesley into becoming an effective leader.
In this episode, we brought in Chuck Burton, a very good friend and Marine Corps Veteran. People get out of the Military for various reasons, and once out of the military some people adjust to civilian life better than others. We talk about Chuck's personal experience both in and out the Marine Corps, and how he transitioned into Civilian life, and we talk about how his Marine Corps experience molded him into being a successful mortgage broker. Buying a new home can be a very daunting task, we talk about some tips that Chuck likes to pass on to his clients, and ease them into home ownership.
In this episode, we brought in Paul Potter, who is the General Manager of Young Chevrolet in Dallas, TX. Paul talks about his personal journey in car sales, and some tips that he generally gives his salespeople. One line you constantly find yourself as a business owner is customer satisfaction vs. driving revenue towards your business. We discuss how as a business, you can bridge the gap between the two, and how it will generally pay dividends for your business. Getting a customer to come back the 2nd time should ALWAYS be the goal, not getting them in the door the 1st time.
In this episode, we brought in our dear friend, Earl Stigler. Earl owns Settler's table, a very unique, family-oriented restaurant in Sunnyvale, TX. We talk about start-up woes, having to wear multiple hats in order to keep the lights on, as well as the sophisticated art of up-selling!
In this episode, we brought in Keenan's dad Alex, who just recently retired from State Farm. Many moons ago, Keenan's dad owned and operated his own body shop at 19 Years old. He was faced with an extremely difficult decision to close his business after only a few years due to health reasons. We talk about this decision, and how for an entrepreneur it is easily the hardest decision you may ever have to make.
In this episode, we brought in a very close friend, Henry Key; of HK1NK Studios. Henry is a tattoo artist from Alabama who opened up a shop in Dallas. We speak about his move from rural Alabama where he owned a larger tattoo studio, to him moving on a whim to Dallas, and him opening up a smaller studio. Buckle up, because we had a great time on this episode!
