Here we are the last day, day 31 of reading through the book of proverbs. For me this has been an amazing journey. I have read proverbs before, but I have never taken time and actually read it. What I mean by that is being intentional and slowly reading each verse and trying to take each verse to see if this applies to my walk with Christ. Many verses make me stop and really think. It has made me realize that I need to stop doing some of these things that I do are foolish. Some of them may not be sinful, but they are foolish. If we realize that some of these foolish things are sinful, we need to repent, and we need to turn away from doing these sinful and foolish things.‌ If God has shown you from from reading proverbs, that you are doing some foolish things or sinful acts. You can repent today, you can give your life to Christ! You can have a closer walk with Christ.‌Embrace wisdom and reject the foolish teachings of the world. The main verse of my podcast is Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” What are you conforming to, is it folly or is it wisdom? Is it the world or is it Christ? Renew you mind from reading God’s word and pray every day.‌Please, stop conforming with the sinful ways of the world and give your heart to Christ. We have made it halfway through the book of proverbs. It is day 17, can you believe it. We made it to day 17 of reading through the book of proverbs. Man, there is so much we can learn from this book. Please continue with me as we read through one of many awesome books of the Bible.‌As I have been reading through the book of proverbs, I am seeing a theme. Are you seeing it also. It seems to me that if you follow wisdom and righteousness God will bless. But if you don’t follow him, it will lead you to destruction. Again, I am reminded of Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

‌I have a question for all of you. Are you choosing wisdom and righteousness or are you choosing the foolish things of this world. I hope and pray you are choosing to follow Christ. You can make that choice today. We are given more wonderful teachings filled with wisdom. This chapter shows us what happens to the wicked when they do foolish things and not embrace wisdom it says the house of the wicked will be destroyed when they continue in their folly. But the righteous will be rewarded. A definition for folly is a lack of good sense; foolishness. We need to grab a hold of wisdom and not foolishness. Which is a lack of good sense. It says if you look at a women lustfully you have committed adultery. We have many different reasons why we might say a certain church or denominations is legalistic, but do we ever look at our own church to see if we are doing anything that is legalistic. Do we ever question our church to see if they are adding extra burdens on us that biblically we do not need to follow? Here is a question, what form of legalism does your church or denomination have? Here is the deal, the people in the early church changed the world, but today the world is changing the church. When we let the world into the church it comes between you and God. If we do not put Jesus first in our lives, then we are becoming like the world. The world can separate us from Jesus. The world is against Christ, the church and all Christians. We need to get back to being the church. Listen, the church needs to stop conforming with the world Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

This is episode 1 of season 2. I thought I would dive right into the Gospel of Matthew to see if we can learn something from Matthew Chapter 23, where Jesus confronted the scribes and the pharisees who were the hypocrites of His day. I wanted to see if can learn something from hypocrites, hence the title of today’s episode. What can we learn from hypocrites?

“Hypocrite” comes from the Greek “hupokrites (hoop-ok-ree-tace’) which means acting under an assumed character, ex. a stage player (Strong’s)

A true hypocrite is a person who is pretending to be something he or she is not, and of course has no intention of becoming. Here is a question, do we have in the Church today people or preacher being stage actors, pretending to be something they are not.

In this weeks episode which is titled Pilgrims with a Purpose. In 1 Peter 2 Peter is telling us that when we become followers of Christ we become pilgrims and strangers in a strange land. The definition for the word pilgrim means that we are just passing through. This world is not our home. Philippians 3:20 “Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly wait for a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Now, the word stranger means a person who is living in land for long time. He may have a home, but it is not permanent. When we start following Christ we become pilgrims just passing through. As pilgrims or strangers we do have a purpose. God is here to help you. Here is a scripture that can help those that are in a single parent home. It is Psalm 68:5 “God in his holy dwelling is a father of the fatherless and a champion of widows.” I pray that God blesses those raising kids by themselves.

Before we get into this, we need to be aware that we as men are under a lot of pressure from our society. We have pressures from our jobs, our economy is going south, and we want to now more than ever provide for our families. We also as men face temptations in today’s society, from pornography, addiction to alcohol, and cutting corners to make more money.

In this weeks’ episode we will be discussing the end of all things, we will be reading from Matthew chapter 24. I came up with the idea for this episode from a discussion we had at our men’s bible study a few weeks ago. Each person had an opinion and I learned a lot from each person. Some of them seemed worried, wanting God to intervene. But, I had a different view. Maybe the things that are happening in this world need to happen to bring about the end and the return of Christ.
