In episode 6 Martin and Tim chat to Jonathan Bell about being a reluctant church planter, planting in unity with others and the call for some of us to stay put. Jonathan and his wife Helen moved to Birmingham in 1996, just 3 months after getting married, and have seen great growth and blessings across site and church plants over the past 25 years.
In episode 5 Martin and Tim chat to David and Jude May. David and Jude, along with their children, moved to Sheffield in the north of England to plant a church right in time for a pandemic and national lock down! They talk about trusting the prophetic, training grounds and God's timing.
In episode 4 Martin and Tim chat to Matt and Jo Simmonds. Matt and Jo moved from the Brighton, UK, to Amsterdam 7 years ago to plant a church with their 4 daughters and a small team. They talk about the costs and blessings of cross cultural mission, trusting their children to God and the bonus of a mirrored wall in early meetings!
In episode 3 Martin and Tim chat to Simon Benham, senior Pastor of Kerith Community Church and Author of “The Peach and the Coconut”. They talk about the importance of church culture, releasing leaders, the role of site planting in church planting and the risks of celebrity culture in church leadership.
Simon is senior pastor of Kerith Community Church and has led the church on a journey of creating a “come as you are” culture. As a result, Kerith has significantly grown over recent years and now meets on 4 locations. Simon has overseen the planting of both sites and churches out of Kerith. Married to Catrina and father of 3 children, Simon is also a supporter of Newcastle United. We all have our challenges.!!
In this episode Martin and Tim sit down with Pete Cornford from Redeemer Church, London. Pete talks with humble honesty about church plants gone wrong and well. He shares with us how he has wrestled with God and discovered the importance of marrying up leader, location and vision.
Martin & Tim are joined by Andy McCullough for episode one of the Multiply: Church Planting Podcast. Andy was born and grew up in Cyprus and is married to Jessica. They are now based in Reading having previously planted a church in the Middle East. Alongside planting churches Andy is also involved in coaching church planters and regularly speaks on theology. He is an avid student of language, culture, mission and the Bible, and is the author of ‘Global Humility: Attitudes for Mission’.
