Chaos In the Golden State Warriors Camp!!!  TMZ released video footage of Warriors 4 time champion Draymond Green delivering a staggering punch to rising young star guard Jordan Poole during Wednesday's practice.  Draymond Green approached Jordan Poole, who was on the sideline and crowded Poole's space.  Poole responded by pushing Draymond away, followed by Draymond lunging forward with a crushing punch to Poole's jaw.  Apparently, Poole was ok a short while after the punch, and even got a workout in after Coach Steve Kerr canceled the rest of practice.

Draymond Green held a press conference on Friday to apologize and accept full responsibility for the incident.  He has been away from the team ever since the incident, and Steve Kerr says there's no timetable for Draymond's return.

The Show in LA with the Lakers has already begun.  As if the trade itself wasn't enough of an eye opener, Patrick Beverly opened up his first workout with the Lakers by telling the media that Lebron and AD are playing with him, not the other way around.  Pat Bev quickly corrected the interviewer who asked how he felt coming to LA to play with Lebron and AD.  "They are playing with me.  I made the playoffs last year, they didn't!  It's a difference."  That was his response.

Things are going to get interesting in LA.  You heard it on the Good Pass Podcast with Reggie Gallon first.

I said it 2 months ago, Kevin Durant is staying in Brooklyn.  After all of the drama, prospective trade scenarios, threats, ultimatums, and rumors, Kevin Durant is still a Brooklyn Net.  But how?  How can you keep KD after he and/or his team had previously demanded that he would stay only if Steve Nash, the coach, and Sean Marks, the general manager were fired.  Well, a couple of reasons.  Ultimately, the Nets ownership stood their ground, and got the W.

Talk about the elephant in the room.  How much trust or chemistry is left after the best player on the team has demanded that the coach and GM gotta go.  Let's talk about it!!

View Details

When Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, we knew there would be drama, but didn't expect the level of toxic drama that we are getting now.  It started with the ridiculous requests that Brooklyn asking for Kevin Durant.  Now it's KD requesting the firing of GM Sean Marks and Head Coach Steve Nash, if they intend for him to stay.

Whether Durant returns to the Brooklyn Nets or not, too much damage has been done to expect anything but turmoil this upcoming season.  The KD - Nets drama has been so ridiculous, no one has even mentioned the Kyrie Irving situation lately.

We'll keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting, to see what becomes of the KD-Nets situation!

Here we go.... one of the most popular debates from an NBA basketball standpoint is where Steph Curry ranks on the all-time list of great players.  A lot of people have moved him into their top 10 of all time.  It's all a matter of preference and opinion, but in my humble opinion, Steph Curry is definitely in the Top 10 of the NBA's greatest players.  If you look at what he's done over the past 10 years, specifically 8 years, he has been absolutely amazing.  He is one of those players that can't be stopped, but in addition, makes everyone around him better.  I know I'll get some strong opinions against it, but let's talk about it.

View Details

Boston Celtics did what most people thought they would do after Steph Curry put on a shooting clinic in Game 4.  They did everything they could to make Steph Curry uncomfortable and keep the ball out of his hands.  It worked too, at least as far as Steph Curry's production goes.  He shot 7 for 21 from the field and 0 of 9 from the 3 point line.  But like I have been saying all year, the Warriors have too many weapons.  Andrew Wiggins came up huge with a 26 point, 13 rebs performance, and Klay Thompson provided a huge spark with 21 points.  The Warriors will try to close out the series on Thursday, with Boston fighting to try to live for Game 7.   Should be another great game!!!

View Details

ESPN talk show host and NBA analyst Max Kellerman and many others have knocked Steph Curry for never winning a NBA finals MVP.  For Steph, he has won so many accolades in his career, including 2 NBA regular season MVP's (one unanimously), it shouldn't matter what people say.  He is the greatest shooter in the history of the game, which no one will argue.  He also has 3 NBA championships, and working on a 4th.  He won one before Kevin Durant made his way to Golden State.  In that Finals, the MVP award was given to Andre Iguodala, who would be the first to tell you that Steph should have won it.  Nevertheless, Steph is out to prove Max Kellerman and the others wrong again, after a 43 point, 10 rebound performance in Game 4 vs Boston.  How will he follow that up tonight in Game 5?

View Details

Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat outscore Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics 39-14 in the 3rd quarter to take the 1st game.  The Celtics were without PG and leader Marcus Smart and big man Al Horford.  Horford will be out again tonight due to COVID protocol.  Marcus Smart is expected to play.  Who will take tonight's game.

In the west, Golden State controlled the 3rd quarter to take a 1-0 lead on the Dallas Mavericks.  Golden State started Andrew Wiggins on Luka Doncic and sent double teams at him all night to keep him well under control.  Steph Curry led the Warriors with 21 points and they got 19 from Wiggins and Jordan Poole.

Who's The Best Player Left In The NBA Playoffs? Is it Doncic, Tatum, Butler, or Curry?  Who do you think.  Not who's playing the best right now, but who is the best player?  Let's talk about it.

View Details

Luka Doncic Destroyed CP3's Chance For A Championship With A Game 7 Thrashing!  One of the best point guards to play in the NBA and one of the best scorers of this era, Chris Paul and Devin Booker, looked about as bad as two stars could look at the worst possible time.  The two All -NBA guards picked the absolute worst time to play their worst game of their career.  They were complete no-shows in the game last night.  After mocking Luka Doncic several times during the series, Luka definitely got the last laugh last night.  He tied the Suns first quarter point total of 27 by himself.  When asked did he know he had as many points as the Suns team at the end of the first quarter, he answered "Of Course."

That had to be the worst game 7 I've ever seen.  CP3 most likely have missed his last chance at an NBA championship.  He has lost 5 series after being up 2-0, which is the most by an NBA player.  The Suns future Hall of Famer turned 37 just a couple of weeks ago.  He hasn't looked the same since his birthday.  No... really, he hasn't.

Today's NBA battles between Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics in the first contest and Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks in the second, could prove to be two of the best games we've seen all year.  If the games leading up to these are any indication, expect to see physical, heated, and strategic battles in both games.  The stars, Giannis and Tatum will be stars today.  But the other guys will determine the outcome of both games today.  Devin Booker and Luka Doncic will shine, but some of the other guys will make the difference.  Both games could go either way.  The Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors are waiting on the other end.  But no time to save up for them.  It's game 7, "Win or Go Home!"

It was too much Jimmy Butler and company for the 76ers last night at the Miami Heat sent them home for the summer in a 4-2 series win.  Joel Embiid has obviously not been himself, experiencing a couple of injuries during the playoffs.  The broken thumb initially limited him early in the playoffs.  However, the broken face orbital bone really did him in.

James Harden was not injured and just seemed like he was ready to throw in the towel.  He didn't play hard, didn't play smart, was not aggressive, and only took 2 shots in the 2nd half.  Philly fans destroyed Ben Simmons for almost the same type of performance.  Harden is a $40 million dollar guy, and he'll be expecting a max deal this summer in excess of $200 million.  Philly has a decision to make.  I don't think Harden can get back to the level he was at 2-3 years ago.  This version of James Harden is not a max salary type guy.

Many NBA critics and analysts thought the NBA playoffs would be lackluster without Lebron and the Lakers.  Kevin Durant and Kyrie also had an early exit.  However, the playoffs have been very interesting and entertaining.  The games have been as competitive as ever, and most of us are curious about who is actually going to win it all.

It's refreshing to see new teams, new faces, new emerging stars, competitive basketball, and an occasional hard, playoff foul.  Ja Morant is bringing the trash talking, Steph Curry is doing what he does, Joel Embiid is keeping the Sixers in the hunt, Chris Paul is right there as usual, and Boston is looking like the team from the 80's.  I got Golden State!  Who you got?

Bring Out The Broom For KD, Kyrie, And The Brooklyn Nets Tonight!!  If KD and the Nets don't bring their A game tonight, they will be embarrassed tonight by the Boston Celtics and swept 4-0, ending the series on their home floor.  The Nets have looked horrible in the first three games of the series.  KD, specifically, has played the worst three playoff games since he's been in the league, and is being totally outplayed by Jayson Tatum in their matchup.  Tatum had 39 points and 6 assists in their last match up, holding KD to 22 points on 4-19 shooting.  KD is shooting 34% for the series.  He looks stifled and confused.

View Details

The Brooklyn Nets thought they were assembling a championship team when they brought Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden together.  James Harden jumped ship, Kyrie took a hiatus due to his beliefs about the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, and Kevin Durant was left to carry the team on his back along for a good part of the season.  Now, they are facing a 2-0 deficit against what looks to be just a better Boston Celtics team.  KD has been stifled by the Boston defense.  He is 13-41 from the field in 2 games and is looking tired and out of sync.  Kyrie has been inconsistent.  Brooklyn is playing the worst brand of basketball in the playoffs right now.  KD and Kyrie are playing my turn type, iso ball, which is making it easy for the Celtics to double and triple team them.  If they don't clean it up quick, I think it is time to bring out the broom for the two superstars.  They will get swept!!!  There is absolutely no "I" in team.

The Los Angeles Lakers continue their coaching search after a disastrous season on the court and in the executive office.  Truth is, Jeannie Buss and Rob Pelinka have done a horrible job of managing the Lakers personnel and contracts.  They traded for and took on the 5 year/ $206 million contract of Russell Westbrook, who had no chance of fitting in with the Lakers.  Russell Westbrook is a ball dominant point guard who doesn't shoot it well, and has never played without the ball in his hands 90% of the time.  No chance of that happening on a Lebron James led Laker team.  Did they at least have discussions about it before the trade?

Host Reggie Gallon gues that it will not matter who the Lakers hire as the next coach, because ultimately, Lebron James will be coaching the team.  Will it be Mark Jackson, Nick Nurse, Quin Snyder, John Calipari, Sam Cassell?  Who knows?  I think the bigger question is what are they going to do with Russell Westbrook and his $43 million salary.  Or even better, how do we keep Anthony Davis healthy?

Former Auburn PG Reggie Gallon is weighing in on the Orlando Magic and all of the mistakes made with draft picks and trades over the years.  The Orlando Magic is not a competitive team in the NBA right now, despite all of the lottery picks and other first round picks over the past few years.  The have no elite veterans on the roster, no face of the franchise, and frankly no identity at this point.  What do they do?  Do they play uptempo or half-court, grind it out?  Are they physical or more of a finesse team?  Do they shoot the ball or slash?  What is the system?  Who is the "go to" guy on the team.  Who is the most recognizable face on the roster?   Truth is, most of their players can walk around in Orlando, and no one would no who they are?

No knock at the players.  There are some really good young talent on the roster.  Orlando Magic management has done a terrible job of putting veteran talent around the young guys.  L

Listen in as Reggie plays General Manager for a day, and gives the Magic some ideas about bringing in some veteran free agents.  Somebody's gotta do it!!

Super talented freshman Jabari Smith and his front court sidekick are made the announcement that they are headed to the NBA.  Smith has collected 6 awards, including being selected to the John Wooden/Wendy's All-American Team and NABC Freshman of the Year.  He is projected to be a top 3 pick in the draft, and many mock drafts have him listed as the #1 player to be taken.  The 6'10" freshman with the silky smooth jump shot will  be highly coveted, as he displayed NBA skills throughout the season, and NBA scouts were loving him.

Walker Kessler, the 7'1" agile shot blocker collected the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, while blocking 4.6 shots per game (2nd in the nation), to go along with his 11.5 points and 8.5 rebs.  Mock drafts have the big fella going somewhere between the 17th and 23rd pick in the draft.  Kessler is mobile and agile and can guard smaller perimeter players pretty well for his size, which allows him to handle the pick and roll game of the NBA.  He has shown great footwork and a soft touch around the rim.  He has great hands which allows him to catch the lob passes for dunks, great for the NBA game.

Both guys have served Auburn well and we were blessed to have them.  Good Pass Podcast wishes both of you well, and WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!

Friday night's NCAA Women's Final Four games were great matchups with #2 seed UConn vs #1 seed Stanford and #1 seed South Carolina vs #1 seed Louisville.  In the end, Uconn ended up pulling out the victory against Stanford, who struggled to make shots all night.  South Carolina and Alliyah Boston proved to be too much for Louisville, and cruised to a 72-59 victory.  Tonight's matchup, South Carolina vs UConn will proved to be a hell of a match up for the championship.

The North Carolina vs Duke match-up was classic.  Forget about it being the end of the road for Duke coach, Mike Krzyzewski, who is retiring at the end of the season.  Their previous game two weeks ago, which was won in OT by North Carolina, ended with Duke assistant coach, Chris Carawell not shaking North Carolina coach Hubert Davis's hand at the end of the game.  North Carolina, once again ruined the moment for Coach K, winning a tough battle between the teams.  Coach K's career ended on a sour note, but he has done so much for college basketball.

The first match with Kansas and Villanova was a great battle as well.  Kansas proved to be too much for Villanova.  Kansas big man, McCormack dominated on  the inside, which Agbaji and the other guards lit it up from the outside, shooting 54% from behind the arc.

The Kansas vs North Carolina match up for the championship on Monday night will be epic.  Two of the most storied programs in college basketball will go head to head in a battle of the big dogs.

The Saint Peter's Peacocks can shock the basketball world with a win over the North Carolina Tarheels.  A win would move the Peacocks into the Final Four as a 15 seed, and have already made history being a 15 seed in the Elite 8!  The small school with less than 3,000 students have pulled off huge upsets over Kentucky, Murray State, and Purdue to advance to the Elite 8.  They take on a tough North Carolina Tarheels team who is playing the best basketball in the tournament.  It will be a tall task, but the Peacocks have shown that they live for games like this.  They have some guys who are tough, big shot makers and a coach who was a player himself, at Seton Hall from 1996-2000.  Coach Shaheen Holloway, a former point guard who scored over 1,500 points for Seton Hall in his four years there, has his team playing lights out basketball at the right time.  It's kind of hard not to root for these guys.

Former Point Guard Reggie Gallon breaks down what the Tigers will need to do to take down the Miami Hurricanes this evening.  The Hurricane guards ability to break down the defense and create shots for themselves will be a big key to the game.  The Auburn guards will need to stay in front of them and make the guards make tough shots.  The Canes guards are shot makers and will be aggressive today, looking for a chance to take down the 2nd seeded Tigers.
The Tigers will have to make shots as well.  The long ball has been a struggle for Auburn, and will be a big factor today.  Can we make shots?  We are definitely capable.  All-American Jabari Smith is out best shot maker and long ball shooter.  Wendell Greene Jr, while he hasn't been very consistent, he can get hot as well.  KD Johnson is streaky, and needs to get going early.  Collectively, the Tigers need to make shots.

The most critical thing for the Tigers will be getting Jabari Smith the ball.  The Tigers cannot afford to go multiple possessions without Jabari touching the ball.  He is the man.  Also, Auburn Big Man Walker Kessler needs to get touches in the paint as well.  He is super effective in the paint, and can prove to be the X-factor in the paint, where Auburn should have an advantage.  Kessler also needs to man the paint defensively.  If the Tigers can do these things, they will be moving on to the Sweet Sixteen!!

Auburn All-American forward and Gonzaga's All-American forward have been nothing short of spectacular through the regular season, just as impressive in the NCAA Tournament.  Jabari opened up with a 20 point and 14 rebound performance in a win over #15 seed Jacksonville State.  Chet Holmgren and the Gonzaga Bulldogs took down Georgia State, with Chet chipping in a huge 19 point, 17 rebound, 7 block, 5 assist performance.

These are two young men are projected to be the #1 and #2 NBA draft picks this year.  Who's #1 could change from day to day, depending on how impressive they both continue to be throughout the tournament.  Both are expected to make a deep run at a national championship and could possibly meet in the championship game.   That would be a joy for basketball fans across the country to want to see the best of the best.  We've been hearing about these kids since their early high school years.  It's great to see that it wasn't just a bunch of hype.  These dudes can flat out ball!!!

After going on a media rant on Jan. 20th, while being asked questions about why his team was not performing as expected, former NBA Legend and current University of Memphis Coach Penny Hardaway and his team won 8 of their next 9 games to turn the season completely around. Memphis watched the NCAA tournament selection and heard their name called as a 9th seed in the NCAA Tournament, playing against Boise State in the opening round. Earlier on Sunday, the Memphis team played in the AAC Championship and came up short against a tough Houston team, which they had beaten twice during the regular season.

Coach Penny Hardaway lost his cool while being asked what he called "stupid fucking questions" by the media after a loss. He pointed out that the reasons they were not performing as expected was due to injuries and playing young, inexperienced guys. At the time, Memphis had several players injured, and played a few freshmen in the rotation. Penny told the media that they already knew this, so why ask the questions. He stated that the media had been really tough on him as a coach, and that he worked too hard at his job to get mobbed by the media with doubt.

Memphis finished the season 21-10, with a birth to the "Big Dance," something that had not been done in the previous 3 years with Penny as coach. Now that's how you respond to adversity. Nice to see Penny silence the critics the same way he used to on the basketball court.

WNBA superstar, Brittney Griner is being held in a Russian prison,  detained while traveling back to the country to compete in the Russian Basketball League for allegedly carrying vape cartridges filled with cannabis oil.  Cannabis is marijuana, and while it is now legal in some American states, it is illegal in Russia and the conviction can carry a stiff penalty of up to 10 years in prison.  She is currently being held in an undisclosed prison, and must be scared out of her mind.

The news was released in the US on March 5th, but apparently she has been held since February 25th, but her name was not released.  The timing could not be worse, as Russia is at war with, and has invaded the Ukraine.  Russian and US relations are not very good right now, as the US and other allies are against the Russian invasion, and stand as allies with the Ukraine.  This doesn't help the situation, and could stall efforts to try to get Brittney Griner released.

The US coverage of Brittney Griner's situation has not been very good, and people are wondering what, if anything is going on behind the scenes to help resolve this situation.   The WNBA, NBA, and news media, and government authorities should be all over this one.  Pray for Brittney Griner.

Ben Simmons chose not to suit up in the matchup vs his former team.  It was a game that most competitors would not have missed, but Simmons who still hasn't played a game for Brooklyn, chose to sit it out.  Everyone is weighing in on who got the better deal from the trade of Ben Simmons to Brooklyn and James Harden to Philadelphia.  James Harden has had some great moments playing along with big time player, Joel Embiid, and they seem to have immediate chemistry.  However, Ben Simmons hasn't played a game so it's still up in the air whether he will fit into the Brooklyn chemistry.  On paper, it looks like a homerun, but no way of telling to this point.

On Thursday, Brooklyn routed the 76ers 129-100, and James Harden was not a factor, scoring 11 points and dishing out 7 assists.  He has a tendency to disappear in big games, and Kevin Durant was up to the task, scoring 25 points and pulling down 14 rebounds.  He subtly has let the world know how he feels about Harden wanting out of Brooklyn.  He showed that on Thursday, engaging in a couple of chest to chest heated exchanges with Embiid, although their battles seem to be just two competitive guys going at each other.  Only time will tell if the trade was great for either team.

North Carolina Head Coach Hubert Davis and the Tarheels had other plans for the Duke Blue Devils and Coach K in his final home game before his retirement.  The festivities were planned, all of Coach K's former players, including Grant Hill, Jay Bilas, Jay Williams, and Christian Laettner, were all there to celebrate the big day.  North Carolina played spoiler and set off sparks by beating the Blue Devils on Coach K's big day.  Some folks on the Duke side seemed to take that personal.

Duke led most of the game and seemed in control.  However, a late North Carolina run helped the Tarheels seal an 81-63 victory over the Blue Devils, spoiling what would have been Coach K's last home victory.  To add insult to injury, there was a handshake debacle that took place in as the teams met after the game for a show of sportsmanship in which Duke assistant coach, Chris Carawell (former Duke player) can be seen pulling his hand away from Coach Hubert Davis, refusing to shake hands.  The incident has been all over the internet.  According to sources, the reasons given by the Duke assistant coach was due to Coach Davis not shaking the Duke staff's hands prior to the game.  Also, North Carolina was apparently the only team in the conference who did not give special recognition to Coach K via a ceremony to honor his retirement.

Former Auburn Point Guard Reggie Gallon dives into the Auburn Tigers 67-62 loss vs Tennessee yesterday in Knoxville.  Auburn shot a miserable 35% from the field and loss the rebounding battle to Tennessee 54 to 31, giving up 21 offensive rebounds.  The Tigers 3 point FG% was even worse, at 20%, going 5-24 from behind the arc.  At one point, Auburn went over 6 minutes without a field goal.  Tennessee didn't shoot the ball well either, shooting 33% from the field, but hit a couple of timely 3 pointers to pull away from the Tigers in the last 5 mins of the game.

As usual, the Tigers still found a way to have a chance to win at the end, with future top draft pick Jabari Smith making big shot after big shot.  Smith finished with 28 points and 8 rebounds and tried his best to give the Tigers a victory, but came up short.  KD Johnson finished with 18 points, and Walker Kessler had 8 points and 7 rebounds.  Wendell Green Jr continues to struggle with his shot, going 2-15 from the field, and 1-9 from behind the arc.  While still sitting atop of the SEC, Auburn prepares for Mississippi St on Wednesday.

Well, what James Harden wants, James Harden gets.  To think that Ben Simmons has been requesting a trade since last year, and Philadelphia wouldn't move an inch, shows that only the "Elite" guys have the power to make things happen with management.  In the last few days, rumors have surfaced that James Harden went to Nets management and requested a trade, specifically to the Philadelphia 76ers, and just like that, the deal was done before the deadline.  He and Durant went to Brooklyn to play with Kyrie, but with Kyrie only being available to play in the road games due to COVID-19 vaccination restrictions in New Jersey, James Harden did what James Harden does.  When he's not happy, he's out!

The #1 Auburn Tigers coming off a close win against Georgia in their last game was stunned in a 80-76 loss down in Fa)yetteville, Arkansas.  It was an overtime game that ended with Arkansas free throws to seal the game.  Auburn had chances to win in the end, but free throw shooting (47%), a couple of turnovers, and the loss of rim protector Walker Kessler in the closing minutes of OT, proved to be too much to overcome.

Coach Bruce Pearl can feel proud to know that he's got a group of warriors that not surrender easily, as Auburn fought Arkansas and their crowd to the very end.  Jabari Smith (20 pts, 9 rebs) was spectacular, and in the end, almost pulled the win out for Auburn with a couple of huge 3 pointers.  Walker Kessler had 16 points, 19 rebs, and 7 blocks.  Wendell Green kept the Tigers in it early with some big buckets, finishing with 19 points and 5 assists.

Former Auburn point guard and basketball enthusiast talks about how Auburn leadership and athletic director Allen Greene moved expeditiously to lock in a contract extension for Coach Bruce Pearl.  With all of the success that Coach Pearl and Auburn basketball team is having this season, it's no secret that the sharks were in the water.  Rumors were starting to float around that other schools were in pursuit of Coach Pearl and staff.

Athletic Director Allen Greene wasted no time getting Auburn leadership on board with an 8 year extension that will keep Coach Pearl coaching men's basketball until his early 70's.  Reports say the contract is worth $50 million over 8 years, or approximately $6.25 million per year.

The contract came on the heels of Auburn's tough win at Missouri, in which Mizzou gave Auburn everything they wanted and almost pulled off a stunning upset of the Tigers.  But the Tigers prevailed, and had just a couple of days to prepare for Oklahoma in the Big 12/SEC Challenge game.  With the contract details in place, Coach Pearl and the Tigers took down a tough Oklahoma team in front of the most electric and raucous Auburn crowd of the season.  Now the Tigers can focus on the business at hand.... chasing down a NCAA National Championship, one game at a time.  War Damn Eagle!!!
