Since 2007 I have struggled with ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis)/chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). In 2011 the illness became overpowering and I took time off to heal myself, among other solutions, going plant-based, gluten-free, water fasting, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, positive psychology and CBD Oil.I managed to go from being house-bound with a need for a carer to get some of my vitality and health back. This podcast is about the steps I have taken to feel good again. In 2015 I co-founded The Feelgood Cafe, a vegan cafe in East London, which grew into a wonderful community and health hub and ranked 6th cafe in all of London (2019). The cafe was open from 2015 to 2020 and now continues online as a vegan support Instagram account - @thefeelgoodcafe. Since 2018 I have been working closely with Dr John Butler, who is a renowned hypnotherapist and a psychotherapist with 40 years of experience, at Hypnotherapy Training International (HTI). I help with organising and managing his hypnotherapy training courses both online and in-person in London. In 2020 I published The Little Book of CBD together with Penguin Publishing House, on the benefits of CBD oil, a food supplement which I have been offering through my brand Feelgood Essentials (founded in 2017) - www.feelgood-essentials.com. In 2021, in the search of fresh air and a warm, sunny climate, I settled in Sagres, Portugal, where run a plant-based guesthouse - www.feelgoodsagres.com.DISCLAIMER - This is not medical advice, this podcast is simply to share what I have been through and what I have tried along the way in an attempt to get better. Unlike other episodes so far, here I’ve been interviewed by dr Adigo Atabo.
She asked me about my journey from a youngster leading a usual life to the first time I remember developing ME symptoms. We touched on nutrition, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, water fasting and everything in between.
We covered my move from Israel to the UK, my chef training in France, my brief nutrition course in Highbury and Islington College, the vegan cafe I had in East London, my CBD Oil book and company and now living in Portugal running a vegan B&B.
And lastly, dr Adigo asked me as a person that has been and still going through ill health what lessons/advice I can share from my journey back to health.

Earthing is one of the practices that make sense to me and years ago I started sleeping on a grounding mat, it has improved my sleep immensely and I always wanted to talk to a doctor about it.
In this episode, I spoke to dr Saliva Binder who share her personal journey into well being and then went on to explain the benefits of grounding/earthing. We also covered EMF in brief here among other topics.

In this episode, I spoke to Dr John Butler from Hypnotherapy Training International. Dr Butler has over 40 years of experience in the clinical field of helping people with various health issues with the use of hypnotherapy. Here we discussed how his method helped my IBS symptoms. I can't wait to have dr. Butler back on the show to cover hypnotherapy for energy levels, mental health had more!

In this episode, I was given the chance to speak to a living legend, Joel Fuhrman M.D., who is a 7-time NY Times best-selling author. Dr Fuhrman's research into nutrient-rich diets (micronutrient-rich diet) is phenomenal and we can learn a lot more about his life-enhancing Nutritarian diet in his books which I’ve linked below.
We covered medications for chronic conditions, sugar, oils and the GBOMBS way of eating.
He also runs a health retreat in San Diego where people come from all over the world to lose weight, resolve food addictions and recover their health. It was incredible speaking and learning from him during this podcast and I’m looking forward to inviting him back and breaking down health and wellness in more depth.

In this episode, I had a great pleasure of speaking with Dr Philip Blair, who has been studying, treating, and lecturing about the human body’s natural endocannabinoid system (ECS) and the non-psychoactive hemp-derived cannabidiol. ECS disorders appear to be the root cause of many chronic medical problems and inflammation. Dr Blair's goal is to restore health and performance by enhancing the ECS using diet, exercise, appropriate medications and non-psychoactive herbal nutritional supplementation. He is an established expert on cannabidiol with clinical experience in over 2000 patients.
CBD Oil has been a key player in my journey back to health and having Dr Blair speak to me on how CBD Oil may help with sleep, pain, inflammation and boosting the immune system was an important topic for me to cover.
Dr Blair provides clinical consultations by phone internationally in the use of CBD for illnesses. Please check his website and publications below:

In this episode, I spoke to The ME Association communication manager Russell Fleming who suffers from ME for 20 years. He explained to me the role of the ME Association in connecting ME sufferers, how they helped the NHS redefine doctor ME patient interaction, how they fund research for ME, their helpline and many other roles they do to raise awareness of ME debilitating condition.
We touched on many topics from our illness experience and Russell's work at the ME Association, as you’ll see we need a few more interviews with Russell on topics such as:
How to get a diagnosis
How to avoid snake-oil

In this episode, I speak to Dr. Wayne “The Mango Man” Pickering, N.D., Ph.D., Sc.M. We planned for a three-part interview podcast together. The first one which is the one we have here is about his Living A Life With No Regrets presentation that covers his background, challenges he faced in his life and how has learned to lead a healthy successful life. I really enjoyed this episode as it covers many of my personal favourite topics from Personal Development to Nutrition. I know some of this episode content is more for those interested in well-being in general rather than us with ME, but I still felt there's plenty to learn from Dr Wayne and so I hope you will find it useful too. Please let me know on the Instagram post I prepared how you felt about this episode:

The second episode will be on Food Combining. And then in the third interview, he will tell us about water fasting.
Dr. Wayne is an "Author of 25 Books, a Nutritional Performance Coach, and a Lifestyle Management Consultant with a Doctorate in Naturopathy, Theology and a Masters Degree in Nutrition.
He is a licensed Florida Nutritional Counselor and the Florida and Alabama State Boards of Pharmacy has approved his programs for continuing education credits.
He is the Founder of the Daytona Beach-based Center for Nutrition & Life Management, Inc. for over 40 years and is passionate about living a totally Disease-Free Lifestyle with a focus on Nutrition and a basic Philosophy, “If you want to be Tough you have to Eat Good Stuff”!”

In this episode prominent researcher Prof. Leonard Jason discusses how myalgic encephalomyelitis became known as chronic fatigue syndrome. This change of nomenclature has reduced the complex illness we're battling to mere fatigue in the understanding of the general public. But M.E is not only fatigue - it is often accompanied by weakness, cognitive impairment, brain fogs and other life-changing symptoms.
Prof. Jason also talked about the difference between the fatigue of ME patients and people with depression.
He then discussed the 'Energy Envelope' theory he developed which could help us live according to our energetic means.

In this episode of Feel Good With ME I respond to a mother's call of help relating to her daugther's insomnia - she suffers with ME/CFS and struggles to sleep more than 1-3 hours a night. Can you imagine how difficult it must be for them both! If you have ME - I am sure you can relate. In this episode I have covered various tips and practices I tried over the years - ranging from keeping a quiet and dark room to avoiding foods that may affect a restful sleep. There are three other things I have found helpful to sleep which I will discuss in next episodes - CBD oil, Hyperberic Oxygen Therapy and Grounding/Earthing sheet.
I will bring experts to discuss the above topics to help us understand why they may work. In the meantime I will leave some links to read up on them.
I have ended the episode with my version of whole body relaxation practice which I have learnt from dr. John Butler, a renowned hypnotherapist based in London who teaches hypnotherapy to students - more on this topic in the future as well!
I hope you find it useful,
Best wishes to you,
Idan

Being both a medical and PhD doctor, Dr Eliana Lacerda is in a particularly good position to discuss ME. She has experienced the effects ME can have on individuals first hand - her close friend's story got her dedicated to help ME patients.
In this episode we talked about her work at the CureME team and Biobank, we discussed why our energy levels may stay low for longer and why we may experience inflamed knots, sore throat, weakness, brain fog. Finally, Dr. Eliana explained how the so called 'envelope theory' can help us manage our lives better. Let's remember to do no more than we really can, as that can send us into a relapse.

In this episode I talked to my friend Viv. We covered what we have learnt over the years in terms of fatigue, weakness, brain fog, energy levels, family matters, psychology, emotions etc.
We have both experimented with healing ourselves with emotional/psychological therapies and changing our lifestyle and diets. Please bare with us here and try not to judge the 'crazy' things we have tried over the years. We were desperate, trying our best to improve our conditions which often conventional medicine does not have answers or remedies for yet. We hope you will find it useful and interesting to hear, but always do your own research.
Please check Dr. Greger's video on Chocolate for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - personally it didn’t cure me but it does seem to make me feel happier:

Ps - I am sorry for my stutter - it was late in the evening for me as Viv is in Mexico - but I am glad I have managed to get through it:)
In this episode, I used the NHS website to describe what ME/CFS is: symptoms, diagnosis, treatment etc.
