Ever been in those situations wherein someone tells you, "I'll always be there for you," or "I'll never leave you!" but ends up leaving you anyways? Yeah that hurts. It happens a lot of times because of our brokenness, and it sucks. But it's kinda cool how one of the ways God's love has been described in the Bible is that it's steadfast. It's not really a word that's commonly used in our everyday vocabulary, but what it basically means is that His love is a loyal love. It's super comforting knowing that even when everyone leaves you and forsakes you, there's always that One person who will take you by the hand, and even when you've wronged Him, He's faithful to reconcile you to Himself; for you can never want to be close to God more than God wants you to be close to Him.

I've always wanted an avenue to nerd out to people about my fondness and interest in theology to people. I love memorizing scripture, talking about how the Bible, and just nerding out about scripture and God in general. Back then, I always thought that Christian maturity is proportional to knowledge, spiritual giftings, but it's actually none of that. Maturity, apparently, has everything to do with devotion and character, as both influence each other!

An age old question which some Christians have debates on is the idea of, do we ever lose our salvation? Simply put, based on how what can be found in scripture, the answer is no. What's comforting about the love of God is that it's sovereign over and through our decisions and circumstances in such a way that, whatever we may do and whatever may happen to us, nothing will ever separate us from the love of God. This pretty much banks on the idea that He chose you to be saved even before time began, so that, if none of your works and nothing that ever happened to you—whether good or bad—ever merited you the love of God, then absolutely nothing you could ever do or go through ever demerit you of the love of God. And there's comfort in the idea that, if you do think that what you can do can demerit you of God's affections, remember, oh child of God, you are not that strong.

When we become truly saved, it is expected that we will naturally produce the fruit of obedience and devotion–key characteristics which Christ Himself upheld when He was on the earth. God's love doesn't just stop at the cross where He declares you holy. He would also require you to then be holy. Just as God is holy, He does expect us to be holy, and this process of having us live holy lives is called sanctification, which is ultimately the work of the Holy Spirit. Two mindsets threaten the integrity of the Christian life—antinomianism and legalism—and it would be interesting to see that the common denominator to remedy those two are one and the same: being transformed to the very image and character of Christ, as He hated sin as God hates sin, and loved God as man ought to love God, thus His willful submission to God's will.

The fullness of the love of God can only be appreciated in all its glory in light of the wrath of God. The wrath of God exists because His laws are broken. And just as lawbreakers have to give due justice with respect to the civil law, we also have to receive justice with respect to God's moral law, which is actually bad news for us. But He is only angry because He loves us; otherwise, He would be indifferent; He could end the world right now and He'd still be a good God. That's why God's wrath can send a beautiful message since it tells the story of how Someone else was willing to take the full blow of our penalty so that the judge and the jury–God Himself–can declare us justified. And with His wrath falling on Another on our behalf, we ought to learn the morals, lessons, and messages this wrath entails.
