While these are important pieces of information, there is something that can be often overlooked when it comes to pricing...
Today I am going to share a pricing strategy that can help boost your confidence, as well as your sales effectiveness.

I was thrilled to attend the BC Small Business Awards recently.
It was so much fun to witness the journey of so many phenomenal businesses and help them celebrate their successes.
When asked why they went into business for themselves, they all agreed that it was their passion for what they were doing, coupled with the desire for more flexibility over their schedule.
Now that they have established their client base and demonstrated excellent customer service, we talked a lot about creating more capacity. More capacity to spend with family or personal pursuits, or more capacity to invest in the growth of their business.
So if you are also looking to create more capacity in your business, I created this episode to give you a step-by-step guide.

When I decided to take ownership of my feelings, my life began to change in some rather magical ways.
New possibilities began to emerge, relationships became deeper, I was less afraid to go after new opportunities, and I began to feel better.
It's interesting because I used to believe that feeling better meant feeling positive most (if not all?) of the time.
What I now know is that feeling better isn't about erasing the negative feelings, it's about feeling better equipped to manage the negative feelings.
In today's episode, I show you how.

Don't let the simplicity of this technique fool you...
It is powerful.
Not only can it help you to get more organized, but it can also help reveal some of those hidden time management blockers that are stopping you from getting your important stuff done.
The moment you start exercising this technique is the moment when all of those pockets of resistance will get revealed to you...
Which is a good thing!! Because you can't change what you can't see.

According to LinkedIn's Global Talent Trends Report, 92% of talent professionals say that when they are hiring, soft skills matter as much, or more, than hard skills.
And 80% of those surveyed also believe that soft skills are increasingly important to the overall company's success.
From my own personal experience, I have seen soft skills play a pivotal role in my career and business success.
In fact, I would attribute my success far more to my soft skills than my hard skills (and this is coming from someone who holds many certifications)!
Maybe it's because my definition of success has changed... Now it's not just about productivity. Or money. Or recognition. Now it's also about fulfillment, satisfaction, and feeling at peace with my decisions.
So with this new definition of business success, today I am talking about developing soft skills. Or what I like to call emotional management skills...

Are you noticing that you are not getting results as fast as you wanted?
The reason might be because procrastination is getting in your way.
The tricky part about procrastination is that it might not look like you thought it would, which can make it hard to even identify.
Especially if you get to the end of your day and you feel like you were going at full speed all day long, and yet you didn't really get accomplished what you had planned.
Or perhaps you have identified as a procrastinator for so long, that you've given up hope of ever changing it.
In today's episode, I want to share some tools, and an experiment, that can help you to identify procrastination and put you back into the driver's seat when it comes to determining what you do with your time.
If you know someone who might benefit from these mindset tools, I would be grateful if you were to share this episode.

Are you working more hours each week than you want to?
You are not alone.
According to a recent survey of service professionals, 94% spend more than 50 hours per week on work, with many working on the weekend.
So it's no surprise that this is typically cited as the #1 challenge experienced by most entrepreneurs, and many employees.
One of the reasons for this challenge may be found in the fear that if we don't put in the long hours we won't make the money that we want.
In today's episode, I want to show you a different way to think about your income earning potential that isn't tied to the number of hours that you work...
Let's take your income earning potential out of the hands of your employer, or your customers, and put it back into your own hands.

In this episode, we are going to do a little exploration into what might be standing in your way.
Introversion. Shyness. Social Anxiety.
Although the associated behaviours might look the same from the outside, there is a significant difference between introversion, shyness, and social anxiety.

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing that it is stupid." ~ Albert Einstein
Do you spend more time focused on playing in your strengths, or more time developing your weaknesses?
It's an important question because it could be single biggest factor in determining your success and feelings of fulfillment.
You might be a fish judging yourself for your ability to climb a tree.
If you are feeling less than competent, and less than fulfilled, this episode is your reminder to lean into your strengths.
This episode will help you to focus on what you are already doing well and translate those natural strengths into greater success and fulfillment.

When you are running a business, there's a lot to juggle...
It's easy to get overwhelmed.
I've noticed that the biggest problem with overwhelm is that it causes us to become very reactive.
We just focus on what's right in front of us and we lose sight of the bigger picture.
Which of course just makes the problem worse.
In today's episode, I share two tools that can help you become, and stay, more focused in your business.

I think back to a time when I resisted acceptance.
What?! That makes no sense.
Who resists acceptance... Yep, that's right. This gal.
I think I had this idea that if I accepted a situation it meant that I was giving up on changing it.
I believed that acceptance and effecting change were mutually exclusive.
Which led me to believe that I would be forced to tolerate it, or worse, support or endorse it.
If this resonates with you, in this episode I offer a different perspective on acceptance.
One that could potentially set you free from the trap of resistance.

The #1 problem for my clients who are business owners and business leaders is in planning their time.
They struggle with way too much to do and not nearly enough time to do it.
In today's episode, I share my favourite time-saving strategy for getting more done in the time you have available, instead of working long hours outside of your regular work hours trying to get caught up.
Discover how shifting your approach around one small aspect of your weekly planning can lead to a dramatic shift in how many hours you are spending on work each week.

Today I would like to share with you one of the most under-rated tools available in creating your own experience of peaceful productivity.
That tool is self-compassion.
I have found self-compassion to be so powerful in creating more mindfulness, more acceptance, and in improving my overall mental health.
What is really fascinating is that our perception of self-compassion might run counter to traditional theories around motivation, achieving goals, and being productive.
In today's episode, I share how self-compassion can actually increase your productivity AND your ability to feel more peaceful in the process.
Also in this episode I share some valuable resources, as well as a self-compassion exercise that you can apply today.
For more information on developing self-compassion you can also check out Dr. Kristin Neff

Whether you are looking to create change at your organization, or in your personal life, today I offer 5 concrete actions that you can take to kick of a 'change movement'.
I was recently listening to a speech advocating for a change in this person's community and I was reminded of how it really comes down to these 5 actions that spark ALL change.
Today I share these actions with you in the context of creating a culture of continuous improvement; however, they can really be applied to any change that you want to make, both at home and in the workplace.
I hope you enjoy!

Do you ever find yourself feeling negative, even when things are going great?
Even worse, do you create a 'negativity sandwich' in which you tell yourself that you shouldn't be negative about being negative.
It's like layering negativity on top of negativity.
If you find yourself in this spiral of negativity and you are looking for some new ways to interrupt it, this is the episode for you.

If you are tired of the same old morning routine and you're looking to change it up a bit, this is the episode for you.
Maybe you find yourself thinking that you really ought to get up earlier, or get more sleep, but you never seem to get around to making any real changes.
Even though you vow that tomorrow will be different, the realities of the day-to-day make it hard to actually make meaningful changes.
In fact, when you're in it, it is impossible to make those changes.
This is the perfect time to take a step back and look at things more objectively.
In this episode, you will get the step-by-step process to improve your morning routine and to make the the real meaningful changes that you want.

While it might seem counter-intuitive, the most helpful tool that I have found to motivate myself is to pause and listen.
I've also noticed that when I am anxious to get started, to take action, to solve all of the problems, the last thing I feel like doing is to taking a moment to check in with myself.
To get in touch with my emotional state... What a waste of time!
However, more than anything else, this practice of getting to know myself better, has helped me to learn how to cooperate with myself, instead of confront myself.
It has helped to silence the inner critic.
Over time, it has helped me to choose goals that are more in alignment with my vision for my life.
Perhaps the best part is that I now feel more peaceful because I feel pulled in the direction of those goals, instead of pushed.

This month in the community we are talking about continuous improvement.
To kick off the conversation, I would like to start with an exploration of the growth mindset.
For the science behind this concept, I highly recommend the book, "Mindset", by Carole Dweck.
In this book, the author shares the many benefits of a growth mindset, as well as strategies to develop your own growth mindset.
Today in this episode, I share two of my favourite strategies.
If you are feeling stuck, this is the episode for you.

I have noticed that the conversation about investing time and money is really a conversation about prioritization... About making conscious decisions about what to do with our time and money to earn the most value in the future.
In today's episode I offer a strategy to make those conscious decisions in the most effective way possible.
This strategy can help us feel more calm and in control around our schedule and our priorities.
From this calm state we are better positioned to create EVEN MORE capacity in our schedule.
It's a beautiful cycle of creating calm and capacity.

As I continue our focus this month on developing an abundant Money Mindset, today's episode is on spending money from a place of security.
The beautiful thing about the strategies that I talk about today is that they can apply to both spending money AND spending time. The reason why is that the scarcity mindset starts with our thoughts... regardless of the circumstance.
When we start to notice these scarcity thoughts, we begin to realize that they apply to many areas of our life, not just around our money.
So whether you find yourself feeling scarcity around money or time, I offer 5 strategies for creating more abundance and a sense of security when it comes to spending.

What's a rolling task list?
This is a very common method for organizing tasks in which unfinished tasks from the previous day get carried forward to today.
Some people find it an effective way to manage their time.
For others, they might look at a list of unfinished tasks and find themselves in a state of overwhelm.
If this is you, I got you.
I want to assure you that overwhelm is not a problem.
Feeling overwhelmed is NOT a reflection of your effectiveness.
You can feel overwhelmed regardless of the quality of your systems or processes.
It's simply another human emotion that comes and goes depending on how you are thinking.
So, the question becomes, how do we move through a state of overwhelm, instead of squashing it (and ourselves), or letting it derail us?
Join me in today's episode to learn a tool that I find useful in helping me move through overwhelm, while respecting my own needs and limits.

In this episode, I explore the aversion to boredom.
Nobody wants to be bored.
Boredom feels uncomfortable at best, and like unproductive and empty at worst.
No wonder we avoid it at all costs.
However...
When we take a closer look at the costs of avoiding boredom, we see that the avoidance is actually one of the biggest time wasters.
And so we're telling ourselves a bit of a lie... we're telling ourselves that that we are saving time... when really we are just going to great lengths to avoid being bored.
It's a false sense of efficiency.
False because the shortcuts and the procrastination actually end up costing us more time, not less.
In this episode, we explore some unexpected ways to make the most of your time simply by tweaking your perspective on being bored.

Why are we so bad at estimating our time?
It turns out that it's not just me. Or you. We all share a tendency to underestimate how much time something is going to take...
It's called the planning fallacy.
The planning fallacy can be very helpful to understand because understanding it can help us to have more compassion for ourselves when measuring our progress.
It can also help us to create plans that are easier to follow.
When we have a more realistic view of the path we are going to take, success becomes much easier to achieve.
Join me on this episode to learn more about the planning fallacy and some strategies to create a plan that actually works for you.

What do you think about the feeling of anger?
What do you think about YOURSELF when you feel angry?
Intellectually, we understand that the feeling of anger can be very useful. And like all of our feelings, it can communicate some very valuable information from our inner guidance system.
But that first requires us to listen.
And yet, in the moment, when we feel angry, or when we observe someone else acting from anger, we might be inclined to judge the feeling as unwarranted, or even frightening.
Or worse, we might judge ourselves for feeling angry in the first place.
This judgment can lead to unconsciously pushing the feeling aside, which means we never get the chance to understand the message behind it.
In today's episode I discuss one of the most misunderstood emotions and how we can tune in to this feeling to use it to better fuel our peaceful productivity.

If you've ever been tasked with organizing a group towards the achievement of a common goal, you've likely asked yourself, 'how do I motivate this group'?
In today's episode we are talking about motivation...
Both extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation.
Extrinsically, those things external to us that are motivational, such as rewards and threats, and intrinsically, such as our own internal thoughts and feelings that fuel decisions and action.
As we explore both sides of motivation and learn about the fuel for our own motivation, there is the discovery that what motivates us is also what is most likely to motivate others.

In today's episode I explore stored emotions.
If you are anything like me, you may have celebrated your ability to keep a calm head during a crisis.
You are used to taking care of everyone else and all of the things.
You are likely recognized as a problem-solver who gets things done.
The ability to park emotions temporarily to get the job done can be very useful.
However, as a habit, it can have serious long-term impact on our emotional well-being.
Today I explore the effects of stored emotion and how to loop back to these emotions to understand and release them.

This month in the Peaceful Productivity Community we have been talking about increasing our ability to focus.
At the beginning of the month, we revisited Chris Bailey's Ted Talk, "How to Get Your Brain to Focus". It is a great presentation on the subject of distractions!
It sparked a lot of conversation about how we react to interruptions and how we might even be distracting ourselves with our own suggestions and ideas.
In this episode, I offer techniques for identifying the root cause of your self-distraction habit and a process for changing the habit, if and when you decide you want to change it.

I often get asked to share tips on overcoming resistance and procrastination.
The most interesting thing about resistance is that it is... to be expected.
Everyone experiences it.
It doesn't mean anything about you, or your work ethic.
And it doesn't HAVE TO lead to procrastination.
If you are ever stuck in resistance, check out this episode for an effective method to move through resistance to productivity, without the guilt and frustration.

When we are stuck in perfectionism we are effectively building a 'tower' of over-preparation.
Over time, this tower becomes less about accomplishment and more about defending ourselves against criticism.
Criticism from others, sure, but really, we are defending ourselves from our own inner critic.
We hold ourselves to impossibly high standards and then 'get caught up' in trying to achieve these high standards... never quite achieving.
While this tower might be successful in defending ourselves from criticism, it turns out that this tower also defends us against enjoyment and connection.
Which, paradoxically, are the two ingredients that we REALLY need to realize progress and accomplishment.
So this is where we get stuck.
In this episode, I offer some tips on how to interrupt this cycle and start appreciating yourself for all of the things that you are ALREADY doing.

I was recently thinking about how it felt to work on a team where the vision was really clear... How everyone on the team was able to sync their work and all move in the same direction.
Contrast that with those situations where the vision wasn't clear. Under those circumstances we all seemed to be going in different directions with very little indication of whether or not we were making any progress.
It got me thinking about my own personal vision for my life and how it can also align my efforts and increase my effectiveness.
In today's episode, I share some techniques to help you craft your own personal vision statement and how you can make it work for you.

One of my favourite books related to peaceful productivity is "Flow", by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
In the book, he describes the flow state... That 'state of being' in which we are completely immersed in the task at hand.
Time seems to lose all meaning.
A state in which we are fully present in the moment and completely lacking self-consciousness.
For me, when I get into this state with my work, I find that not only am I more productive, but I am also more peaceful.
I feel in alignment with my goals and in complete control of my focus and attention.
Although sometimes we think that the flow state just sneaks up on us, that we don't necessarily have much control over it, I have found that there are things that we can do to 'invite the muses'.
In this episode, I go over 3 strategies that have helped me to regularly create a flow state for myself.

One that can be used to fuel your productive energy instead of leaving you stuck in a debate with yourself over what's next.

For many years I was focused exclusively on time and effort as the magic formula for creating success.
Put in the hours and work hard. 'Sweat equity'. That was my approach.
Over time, I started to shift from a focus on time and effort, to creating more value. This shift in focus was critical in terms of helping me to create more time and more money.
However, there was still one piece that was missing.
As I started to incorporate more focus on creating peace, in addition to creating value, that's when everything started to fall into place.
Today, I talk about how to create that shift for yourself with a tool that I call 'The Peaceful Productivity Calculator'.

Today we are talking about the formula for goal accomplishment.
If you are anything like me, there is a part of you that wants to create more... Create more love, peace, and freedom in your life.
Simply experiencing the reward and fulfillment that comes from the process of creating...
However, there is another part of me that wants to stay safe and comfortable in the status quo.
So, when it comes to goals, these two parts of me can be at odds with each other. In this podcast, I talk about how I reconcile and create peace between these two parts.

In this episode, I am joined by Ashley Milbury to talk about the changing face of leadership.

Her purpose is to create spaces for people to make meaningful connections. She cares deeply about emboldening the next generation of women leaders to find their voice and to use it.

I was inspired by her reflections on leadership development, on mentoring these young leaders, and the nature of work during a time of significant change.
"I think one of the most important gifts that we can give young women is not trying to tell them that they have to be somebody else. (It's to) encourage them to know that they already are enough." ~ Ashley

In this episode, host Kim Christiansen shares a perspective on perfectionism and tackles the question of how to channel our perfectionist tendencies into becoming more productive.
And more peaceful.
It's interesting because perfectionism used to be celebrated. It was the standard response to the question about our biggest weakness at the end of the job interview.
Today the reputation of perfectionism has become somewhat tarnished. And in fact, for some of us, our perfectionist tendencies can really get in our way of getting stuff done, feeling peaceful, and having more fun.

In this episode, host Kim Christiansen shares an amusing anecdote about moving through resistance .
Back when she started coaching, she had the idea that resistance would cease to exist for her when she reached an 'enlightened' state. Of course that's not true. Accepting that there will be resistance has probably cut her experience of it in half, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't still come up. In fact, it came up recording this podcast.
In this podcast, Kim walks you through a real-life example of managing resistance and what she's learned in the process with the idea that you might see yourself in the story and recognize some of the tools that might be helpful to you.
Warning! Experimenting with these ideas in your personal productivity systems may lead to a productivity mindset. This mindset could lead to increased efficiency and decreased decision fatigue.

In this episode, host Kim Christiansen discusses how to optimize your 'inner navigation system' to guide responsive, agile decision-making.
She demonstrates how we can unintentionally slip into a state of rigidity or a state of reactivity, and how living in those states can lead to feelings of exhaustion and overwhelm.
This podcast will share tools for moving out of those extreme states of rigidity or reactivity to a more balanced, responsive state.
In the responsive state you get to enjoy the benefits of structure to keep you on track, but with the flexibility to make grounded decisions in the moment, trusting your inner navigation system as your guide.
