God is a Faithful Father. This is a truth we come to learn and accept about God. He will never change, He remains faithful and good despite our shortcomings or catastrophic mistakes in life. His guardianship is different from what the world portrays parents to be. We as earthly parents can relate, but our love is not equal to God’s love for his children.

We don’t know what happened to Cain after he killed his brother Abel, did he go on to kill more people? Did he learn his lesson through a life removed from the presence of God? People look at the World and what is happening around them and wonder, when is this World coming to an end? Can evil continue to flourish? When or what is the end of the age? Is it the end of the world as we know it or is it God’s judgement of evil? Our perception of what happens on Earth is never the same as the perception of the one who watches from above.

Everyone wants love, of that I’m sure, but I’m not convinced that everyone knows how to love or what love is. Love and law go together, love without law or rules is chaotic and confusing and law without love is cruel. In a relationship this formula between love and law is important for creating peace and understanding is the key.For scriptural references, you can read this blog here: https://namibiancornerstone.com/jesus-or-moses/Exodus 18:13, Luke 16:16, Romans 2:17, Hebrews 7:18, Hebrews 11:4

“The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help. But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.”The children and widows are always considered the most vulnerable in the kingdom of God, because they rely on others in the kingdom to provide for them. In anchient days they had no land of their own and it was down to the family and the rest of the community to take care of them. As we read in the stories of the Bible, sometimes they were kind and sometimes they were not, but God commanded the Israelites to do this for he loved the children and the widows. It is our duty as a community of God’s people, to know who the children of God and the widows of God are so that “proper recognition and acknowledgement is given”. That proper recognition is according to God and it is also an acknowledgement made to God, for he reveals who these widows and children are and we agree by the Spirit of truth. Even if we don’t “see them” as they are in the world, the Holy Spirit testifies who they are. As Jesus says, “a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you.”For scriptural references you can read this blog here: https://namibiancornerstone.com/i-am-a-widow/

Do you remember when people used to use this term during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Earthly love is merely a copy of the Heavenly love, which is infinitely better. Our biological brothers, sisters and our mother and father are our family, born to us on Earth and we are connected by blood. Jesus said, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.” Those who hear God’s word and put it into practice are those who love the Lord with all their hearts, minds and souls. They share the same spirit as Jesus. You could say that spiritually they are of the same blood.

We are coming to the end of another year and amidst the Christmas arrangements, family gatherings and Christmas parties, there is also time to reflect on the year that has been. Since the beginning of creation, God has proven his selection. By questioning God’s elect, we are accusing God of being unjust and our hearts deceive us. Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord.

Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. When revelation comes by his word, there is acceptance and there is peace. The opposite is torture. Trauma is shocking and causes much pain, sorrow, even anger and resentment or distrust. It can result in hatred or unforgiveness. It's very hard to see reason and come to a point of forgiveness and acceptance when you are going through trauma. Children sold into slavery, racism, mental, physical and sexual abuse by the ones we trust, betrayal in marriage… trauma is unprovoked hatred. When evil is revealed, it is a traumatic experience for someone to come to terms with. Without truth and foundation, the deception of evil can change a person. It can turn the innocent into the accused. Someone who is abused or betrayed is innocent, but if their experience and hurt then turn them into an abuser, they are no longer innocent.

A witness is someone who ‘attests to a fact or an event happening’. Typically, in a court of justice, the witness is someone who can testify or deny versions of events that they have seen or heard, by giving evidence to support what they say. As approved witnesses for Christ, we have to learn to stand in confidence with what we know is the truth and the evidence (that is the fruit of the spirit). Truth is the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. We are the approved witnesses, our spirit confirms that we are children of God and our testimony is evidence in the case against Christ.

Can we make this promise before God in humility and honesty knowing that in order for us to confidently make this commitment in faith, we need His help and guidance in order to fulfil it according to His ways and will, not ours, so that even in our marriage we glorify Him?

God is Spirit and Jesus is Spirit and if we belong to Him we are also Spirit. To know Jesus is to know God, intimately, that is from the heart, the place we have no control over because it no longer belongs to me but to God. Our bodies are temples and temples contain all the precious things of God, the law, the tools and the ability to make sacrifices, and it contains the gifts to serve the people well, but the temple that contains the presence of God is the only temple you will want to be in. For it’s the presence of God that reveals the Glory of God!

"All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations."

Kings were the leaders of God’s people. They influenced and served the people of Israel, God’s chosen nation.  If the kings who were the servants of the Lord should lead the people wrong, the kingdom would suffer. The army is obedient to the kings. If an army should lose the war, there would be many widows and orphans. The consequence of deception and lies are suffering and torture. I was reading the story of the apostles Paul and Silas who was thrown in prison for casting out a demon in a young girl who was a fortune teller. This story indicates a great injustice and I ask myself the question, why does God allow his disciples to be imprisoned, flogged, and persecuted as Paul was on so many occasions? How is this relevant to us these days and to the believers who are not just physically imprisoned because of their belief in Christ but also emotionally persecuted and through worldly injustice? For scriptural references, you can read this blog here: http://namibiancornerstone.com/2023/04/28/i-am-a-prisoner/

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." Without relationships what joy do we have, who do we make sacrifices for? Without people to love who do we love? To be alone in this world is a miserable business! When love is involved, sacrifice is necessary however big or small otherwise it is not love.

Sacrifice allows us the nature of God. It makes us patient, kind, and selfless. It does not dishonour others,  it helps us to serve without keeping a record, and sacrifice keeps us humble not proud. Seeing others make sacrifices for us makes us humble and makes us feel loved. Sometimes its easier to be the one making the sacrifice, but we have to allow others also to make sacrifices in a relationship so that they too can be blessed and learn the value of sacrifice.

So what did Jesus mean when He quoted the scriptures, “do not put the Lord your God to the test.”Fear the Lord your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name.  Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you;  for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land.  Do not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah.  (Deut 6:13)

In Hindu, Buddhist and some other religious philosophies, karma denotes the cycle of cause and effect. That is what you do or what you “cause” will produce a similar “effect” in this life or in the afterlife. There are consequences to one’s actions whether good or bad, however sometimes as humans, we don’t always know what is good and what is bad as even Satan/Evil can present himself as an angel of light and deceive our hearts and temp us into following our own desires when seeking justice for wrongdoing, but what we are actually seeking is revenge, not justice.  It’s very easy to confuse the two as both involve great feelings of sorrow and pain and this makes us very vulnerable in our perception of spiritual things.

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. That day when the Israelites received understanding, that day when the Israelites felt blessed, that day when the Israelites experienced godly sorrow, that day they knew that their God was good and pleased with them. Everything that had been prepared in advance had come to that moment and they celebrated it. ‘That was the day that the Lord had made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.’

God will send us people to rebuild walls and restore His temple.  They are like Nehemiah.  They have faith and confidence in God who has sent them and do not doubt His great power.  Their message is always encouraging and brings comfort.  They have authority and power because the spirit of God is always with them. They build you up so that you can arm yourself again and continue serving God.  They bring understanding through the word of God. Zipporah’s task to ceremoniously clean Moses’ feet with the foreskin and blood of her firstborn son Gershom was according to God’s commands to consecrate the Levite priests and the covenant made with Abraham. Circumcision was the covenant sign between God and Abraham that they belonged to His family lineage."

This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and you. My covenant in your flesh is to be an everlasting covenant. Any uncircumcised male, who has not been circumcised in the flesh, will be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.” (Gen 17:9)

Zipporah was given the command to intercedebetween God and Moses. Just like Jesus intercedes for His disciples and wash their feet and then commands them to wash the feet of others. “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

Faith is a small word, but the power of it can move mountains.

The dictionary defines faith as “complete trust” or “a firm belief in something/someone of which there is no proof.”

The Bible defines faith as; “faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.  This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (Hebrews 11:1 NIV)

Faith in God means you have no doubts about His power. You come to love Him and fear Him more than anything in this world.  When tested, in obedience and faith, we would sacrifice our family, our career, our friends, our belongings, our life…

"For it is we who serve God by His Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus and who put no confidence in the flesh."

The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:40).

That one thing that was needed is to spend time with Jesus and listen to Him. I realised that too often we run off without any instructions or we take instructions from the wrong people, like in my dream. Then we wonder why things don’t work out or why we get overwhelmed.

Sometimes we need to be reminded to be still and listen like Mary.

The apostle Paul’s story is one of intrigue. His testimony and wisdom teach us so many truths that bring clarity to the Old Testament laws, salvation and how to live righteously. However, Paul’s entrance into becoming an apostle of Christ was not a good one to begin with, but it is an important one because it teaches us that religion, with all good intentions, can have very serious consequences and even lead to our death and the death of others.

Many people claim that they have experienced ghostly activities, encountered ghosts or have communicated with “ghosts” or spirits of the dead. What does the Bible tell us,  is this possible?

A ghost as a noun is defined as a “disembodied soul” of a dead person believed to be alive. Many of the gentile believers and other nations used to regularly consult the spirits of the dead for information, or to console themselves or to find out about “spiritual” things. Many Israelites also believed that the consulting of spirits was acceptable and started following the practices of other nations in the Old testament.

The word of God is our treasure. When we fill our minds with the living word of God, the truth shall not only set us free, but it shall also fill our hearts with many treasures (truths) worth more than gold and silver. Daniel was a young Jewish man that was taken out of his birth country and exiled into a foreign world that was very different to what he was used to. The situation required him to adapt quickly, remain calm and stay grounded in his faith and his heritage.

What the story of Daniel teaches us is that we all have unique skills and gifts that God has given us to use for good in the world and to glorify God. As believers, children of God, we are not the weaker nation. Our strength lies in our humility because we are not competing with these foreign nations like Daniel, we are teaching them there is another way, the right way.  We are strong because God is with us.

The story of love always starts with God…

This post is about the love relationship between a man and woman, between a husband and his bride. There is a difference between husband and wife, men and women, and the bridegroom and his wife. The difference is in understanding our purpose. Why we were made different.

A good marriage is like a farmer who joins two equally yoked cattle together to plough His fields of love. Each has different skills and together they labour hard and make sacrifices to prepare the land, and in the end, both will share in the harvest. One stubborn ox however can make the task very difficult for the farmer and the other ox.

Why do we suffer? Why must we endure pain, death, and heartache? Why did God send his beloved son Jesus Christ to suffer the world and be crucified, yet the world is still evil, and God's children are still being persecuted? The sacrifices we make are our gifts back to God for what He has already blessed us with. The seeds that have been cultivated in us through the Word of God, are put into action. Sacrifices are a “pleasing aroma to the Lord”, not because of our suffering, but because they alter our character so that we become more like Jesus and closer to God and the hope of a better future. Not a temporary one but one that endures forever.

This Easter, we remember the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us as our High priest and celebrate in the knowledge that if God has not spared His only son to show us the way to Him, and rewarded Him to sit on the right hand of God, how will he not reward those who suffer for His goodwill. In this way, we too will be reunited with Him.

What a curse is and who it is intended for? Can anyone curse a Christian? Are curses real? Can we put a curse on anyone?

Both curses and blessings come from God only.  Blessings are words or thoughts of truths from God that lead to life.  When you receive the words or the blessings from the Spirit of God, it leads to understanding, and knowledge, it gives you peace, joy and comfort. It leads you closer to God, to understanding his nature, closer to loving the Lord with all your heart.

Curses are the opposite of blessings.

Before the heavens and earth were even created. Before a word was even uttered, the thought was already there. For what are thoughts, but desires, ideas, words in our minds.

Can you imagine a world that is void of words, not even thoughts? No communication, no expression, not even an idea of what we want or don’t want. What we like or don’t like. Just emptiness...

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. Love is so many things, its expressions and feelings, actions and words but without doubt, it is understood and accepted by the recipient. I think everyone knows what love is, without having to really explain it, it is understood from the heart. You don’t need faith to know what love is but do you need faith to know what God’s love is?

Rehab’s story intrigued me because although we don’t know much about her life, throughout the Old and New Testament she is mentioned and has made it into the genealogy of Jesus Christ and is purposely mentioned there, by name, and one of only five women mentioned specifically in the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah.

Rehab’s story demonstrates her faith, reverent fear of the Lord, a desire to be saved and a promise/pledge in the form of a red scarlet cord/rope.  It turns out Rehab got much more than she asked for.

Not a select few, Everyone! God is love and He gives it freely, even to those who do not want it, see it, appreciate it or understand it. His love is unconditional.

This week I find myself in the shoes of Martha.  Feeling frustrated, tired, discouraged and entitled. When it feels like we do more than our fair share whilst others benefit from our works/kindness and then barely notice the effort we are putting in? What can we learn from Martha?

King Saul, was the first anointed king of Israel. He was from a humble background, the least and smallest tribe of Israel. A Benjamite, but God chose him to lead his people.

Saul was a king that did not follow God’s commands. He was a terrible ruler. The Bible says that the word of the Lord came to Samuel saying, “I regret that I have made Saul king because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions.” Saul went against every command and all the covenants of the law of Moses.

How can we learn from Saul? Can we identify with him?

Job was a man that had everything in life it seems. He was a healthy man with a loving family and a good wife. He was blessed with lots of children (seven sons and three daughters). He was considered very wealthy in the land (owning several thousand live-stock and a large number of servants. Job and was a respected man in the village. If you know the story of Job, you know that Job loses everything soon after this. He loses his wealth, his servants, his whole family, he loses all his children in death and he loses his relationship with his wife, his health deteriorates drastically and people start avoiding him, his friends dwindled and everything that he had that was secure and good, was taken away from him, all except his life, and at one point he suffered so much that he wished for death to take him.

Why would God allow a man that was "blameless" and faithful to suffer in this way?

You can find this blog on - https://namibiancornerstone.com/2021/11/08/the-love-of-money/

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

People say: We need money to survive. We have to work to earn money. We work so that we can be rewarded with money. With more money, we can help more people. We need money to advance the gospel of Christ.

All of the above statements are lies, especially the last one. You don’t need money to do what you need for God, you just need God. God will provide you with everything you need to fulfil your purpose. You just need God. Money is never a reward. Money is a means.

For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death.” Ex 32:15

Is the Sabbath still relevant? How should we celebrate it? How do we rest? Rest from what? To understand why the seventh day was proclaimed holy and why God commanded us to rest, we have to first understand what is meant by rest.

Peace is the thing that all humans want. It is one of those words that is thrown around, promised by world leaders, preached in churches, quoted by famous people, plastered on walls, and represented in many forms of imagery. Songs are written about it and some even try to sell you peace.

So, what is in this little word? How do we define it? How do we know we have peace? Can someone really promise you peace and deliver? What do we expect when we want peace?
