This podcast is for any of you, who like us, want to hear about the good stuff going on in the world and be reminded that not everything is going to sh*t!
We know times are really hard, especially right now, for a lot of us but there are amazing things going on around the world that we just don’t get to hear enough about.
So kick back, spend 20 minutes with us, whilst we natter on about some of our favourite good news stories and how we try but don’t always succeed at staying positive in this, The Good Stuff Podcast.

"Social media is not a media. The key is to listen, engage, and build relationships."
David Alston
So said that guy (it's alright we're not sure who he is either!) but one thing we do know is that we don't know a lot about social 'media' and how it is affecting our wellbeing yet.
We know it allows us to more easily engage with one another and share stories, share experiences, the ups and the downs of life but we also know it can sometimes be a mysterious, faceless and unpleasant place. In this episode, Kev & Izzie quiz Phoebe (bumblephii on Insta) about her experience of social media - the good, the bad and the ugly. She is to social media what Greta Thunberg is to environmental activism.
Don't worry, we'll also be learning about a straw that can cure hiccups and gender neutral Lego!

We know the title of this episode is Silence Is Golden but we won't be serving silence up in this episode, sorry - I mean who wants a podcast presenting you with 20 minutes or so of silence (actually, now we come to think of it, who wouldn't want that right now in our rather frantic and frenetic world!)
Join Kevin and Izzie as they attempt to find their inner librarians and peace out to the calming voice of Gabs Brown, their new favourite yoga master as she sends a calming zephyr (look it up!) across our rather busy and addled minds - basically she talks Izzie and Kevin down from volume 10 to volume 2 and in the process shows us the importance of silence for our general wellbeing.
You be quiet, no you be quiet, why don't we all be quiet!
PS - don't fret, even in the silence Kevin and Izzie can still giggle and crack fart jokes, this is still the Good Stuff after all!

The Good Stuff Podcast has donned our uniform and gone back to school and we have to say, we loved our first day!
This special episode of The Good Stuff Podcast introduces our listeners to Becky Hawkes, Academic Director of Middle School at Headington Rye and Mikey, our editor and a rather marvellous podcast producer.
In this special episode Becky manages to herd a rather excitable class of three podcasters as we share some valuable knowledge about podcast creation and production that we've picked up on the way, hoping we can inspire the next generation of broadcasters/podcasters to get behind a mic and make stuff we want to listen to.
Some of the areas we manage to cover are (shhhh, we're impressed too!)...
The rise of the podcast phenomenon
The highs and lows and all that is in between of digital media recording for a listening audience
The value in the skills developed and 'lessons learnt' from podcasting and content creation in light of the developing educational opportunities
Becky also tells us more about an exciting alternative qualification being offered at Headington Rye. The course is called RSL Certificate in Digital Media Skills and you can find out more about the course here.
You can also find out more about Headington Rye at this very link right here.
Open your textbooks and get ready to learn something, every day's a school day!

"There is no harm in repeating a good thing"
Well who are we to argue with Plato, we don't need to be told twice!
We are back and kicking off Season 2 with a slightly more serious tone (don't panic we still mention bananas and there's a careful smattering of innuendo!) as we look into the subject of Toxic Positivity. Don't worry, we didn't know what it was either until we decided to podcast about it!
We also discover that the Eiffel Tower grows when it gets hot and rubber bands last longer when they are kept cold!
Every day's a school day with The Good Stuff Podcast!

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind."
We close out season 1 of The Good Stuff Podcast by talking about pride; the event, the word, the feeling and what it means and can do for our wellbeing.
We encourage you to be proud, try a little self-love (don't be filthy!) and start being a little kinder to yourself.
Don't worry, there is still plenty of froth and waffle in this last episode - Izzie's mic gets a bit too friendly, Kevin's cat gets way too possessive, our AI bot friend surprises us both with pretty OK answers and our Did You Know section gets a new jingle.
Listen, share and rate our little podcast and you never know we might get a second season, especially now that Izzie has finally learned our Instagram address and Kevin has worked out how to breathe more quietly!
Go out and find the good stuff, we promise it's out there if you look hard enough.
Heads up Good Stuffers (does that sound odd?!)
As episode 9 has been our most popular episode yet here is some extra good stuff. Listen in to our 'strict routine' for warming ourselves up for recording the podcast.
Also read, 'join two middle aged people as they try to use an iPhone to play a mobile game called Heads Up, what could possibly go wrong!'
Though no one asked for more here it is!
In this episode Kevin finally admits that his music catalogue is 99.9% Kylie and Izzie dusts off her vinyl collection and winds up her gramophone as we dip our toes, well ears into the world of music and wellbeing.
Does music affect our mood?
Can it help our brains heal faster?
What artist's music should you use to scare off pirates?
In the words of the music icon, Madonna:
"Music makes the people come together" mind you she did also sing "Beauty’s where you find it, not just where you bump and grind it" so make of that what you will
PS - no sound effects were harmed in the recording of this episode...
Well, what can we say, we're giving you more stuff in this, our first ever EXTRA STUFF bonus content...
Don't say we never give you anything!
If you need a way to get bored (see episode 8) here is some extra minutes of us two wittering on about my massive dongle, its odd sounds as well as Shakespeare, The Happiness Museum, The Little Mermaid ('singing' may have occurred) and Izzie's internal soundtrack.
It's extra but maybe not bonus!
We're back after a short hiatus, we know you missed the bickering, go on admit it!
In this episode you'll be treated to our breathy delivery as we get to grips with some new tech and realise that HD microphones are very unforgiving.
Izzie discuss her Asda shopping whilst Kev recalls his hatred for buses and Sainsbury's and more importantly we carry on our journey through the good stuff, taking a detour via the normal stuff, encouraging you to get bored (in a good way) and disconnect in order to boost your mood and wellbeing.
Disconnect. Get Bored. Repeat. *
*once you have listened to this latest episode of course!
An animal a day keeps the doctor away, so say us!
In this episode we take a closer look at how animals can really help with our wellbeing (best not rely on a cat to save your life though!)
In the absence of Chris Packham we try our best to do the science bit and we learn that Izzie used to walk a lamb in her village (best not to ask questions I find) and Kev discovers that he is worryingly good at guessing which animals like to do things to 'entertain' themselves when they are on their own :-/
If you love animals you will love this podcast (we think...)
Things are always better when they come in pairs (said someone at some point at sometime)...
Ant & Dec, Cheese & Wine, Netflix & Chill
Well you get the idea, this is the second of our pair of podcasts all about hope & reasons to be hopeful, get yourself a coffee & a biscuit (everything in pairs remember) or another beverage of your choice, we can also highly recommend G&T and a stop watch and listen in amazement as Izzie and I almost manage to not go over our 20 minute curfew! So close, next time!
We hope you find a bit of hope in this episode and if you don't then at least you can just point & laugh (those pesky pairs again) as I try to stop Izzie swearing like a sailor!
"I just love good smells"
Thank you Goldie Hawn (we might be showing our age with that 'name' drop), we couldn't have put it any better ourselves.
In this episode we take a trip around our olfactory system and discuss what smells help us feel good. Kevin and Izzie also try out a tasty animal quiz and intoxicated on all their favourite smells totally forget to maintain the one segment they thought they had nailed, 'The Random Finger of Good News'! Fret not, you will be able to sniff out the random finger in our next episode.
No animals were harmed in the making of this podcast.
Four is a magic number! Alright well it's officially 'three is a magic number' but that doesn't work for episode four!
In this episode Kev & Izzie chat about hope and reasons to be hopeful, with varying degrees of success!
They get distracted by a Tibetan Monk and old lady Rose in Titanic, drawn in by mermaids (sort of) giving the kiss of life and a series of small walls that may or may not be a bakery or an administrative district. We can promise you variety if nothing else!
Hit play, listen up, you are in four quite a ride (see what we did there!)
Get your finger away from that mute button!
In this episode Kev & Izzie share some of their favourite sounds and chat about how different sounds effect their mood. From flushing toilets to popping corks, squeaky Tupperware to crackling fires, we like to think of this episode as an orgasm for your ears.
Listen very carefully we shall say this only once.
In this episode Kev & Izzie grapple with the age old dilemma; is it chips, cheese & beans or chips, beans & cheese. Kevin wonders if he can get paid each time he says choucroute or sauerkraut and Izzie isn’t sure if choux pastry has an actual shoe in it!
This episode may contain food & alcohol.
The Disclaimer Dish of the Day
Izzie realised after we recorded this episode that she got the meaning of schadenfreude very wrong, no answers on any postcards please, she has seen the error of her ways! Izzie, all is forgiven ;-)
In this Episode Kev & Izzie introduce the concept of the podcast and talk us through some of the things that make them happy, We also get a peek into future podcast segments and some positive news from around the world :)
