Meet Kelsey Romine!! For 8 years, I was a teacher. I liked it for a while, but I began to notice my mental health starting to suffer. After I had my first baby, I was really struggling. I decided I needed to make a change, even though it felt really scary to try something new.

I learned how to start my own business from home, and it was everything I needed in life. I'm now a WordPress website designer, building custom, strategic websites for busy coaches and service providers, making sure their website has a strategy first before the design process starts.

I've been able to be home with my littles while they are still little while enjoying a freer lifestyle and still helping support our family. My mental health is so much better too.

Your most favorite time of the year is here... No it's not taxes! Quarterly review time!

If you don't take time to review your quarter, let me suggest that you do! If you never take the time to assess what's working, what's not and focus in on the goals that matter most, you'll miss the mark every time.

In today's episode I talk about the business checklist I created 2 years ago that I've since updated. Here's what you can expect inside:

This quarterly strategy and plan is crucial for setting goals, outlining objectives, and defining key initiatives to drive the business forward. It serves as a roadmap for the company, providing a clear direction on how to allocate resources, prioritize tasks, and measure progress.

By regularly reviewing and updating this strategy, businesses can adapt to changing market conditions, stay competitive, and make informed decisions to achieve success. Having a well-defined quarterly plan also helps in fostering teamwork, aligning efforts across departments, and ensuring everyone is working towards a common goal.

In essence, a quarterly strategy and plan is not just a document, but a dynamic tool that guides businesses towards growth and prosperity.

There are two ways to grab it:

  1. Grab it from my online Etsy store here- Business Management Checklist Q1-Q4 - Etsy
  2. Message me on Instagram CHECKLIST to grab it for free! Find me on insta @mrskatiemcgilvray

During that time, I increased search engine traffic by 1,800%, built brand awareness, and contributed to the highest-grossing year in the company’s sixty-year history.

I enjoy working with SMBs that are

If you're in a shifting season, where both life and business are about to change drastically for you and mostly for the better, this episode is for you!

As a mom and an entrepreneur, it can be hard to "just go with it". I don't know who those people are but I have never been one of them.

I'm more like lets plan it effectively, create some strategy and then take action. I actually find that when I just "go with it" my mental health usually goes right out the window.

In this episode I'll talk about how to prepare your mindset, how to hire for the help you need, how to create margin in the areas you need it and let go of guilt where it's not needed.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, I'm excited you're here!

Once a month I'll answer some of the most frequently asked questions I get in my DMS through social media!

Up this month we have the most common:

  1. What do I actually do for work ?
  2. How many side hustles do I have?
  3. Why network marketing?
  4. Do I have a schedule for how I keep up with housework and my regular work?
  5. How did I figure it out?

If you're new here, I'm Katie McGilvray. Wife, mama of 3, almost 4 and multi-passionate entrepreneur. Not everything you do should become a side-hustle but if you can do what you love and make money while doing it, I'm here to help you figure it out! Most importantly, how to create profits without sacrificing your most sacred priorities.

I don't believe it has to be either or! You can definitely have both, you just have to know what season of life you're in and what's right for you.

What does it mean to live with intention?

Last year the Lord put living intentionally on my heart. Since becoming I've desired to live and build a life where I can have both, a thriving business and be an intentional wife and mother.

Along the way I realized that I had let me business become my priority and it was leading to MASSIVE burnout.

The truth is, while you can have it all, you have to set parameters for what that will look like. This is the year of letting the SHOULDS go by the way side and really honing in on what matters most.

It's the year to focus on how to get more of what we want and feel less guilt about not working for the things we don't.

Not every mother wants to work while they're home.

Not every mom wants to be home with their kids.

It takes all kinds of kinds to raise YOUR family and live the intentional life you want!

This episode dives deep into how to get more of what you want and set yourself up for an intentional year.

33 trips around the sun and I'm grateful for every single day that I've been blessed with.

  • The older I get the less I stress about who I'm impressing and more about the impression I'm making on others.
  • The longer I've been in business, the more I realize how important it is to take care of your people. Recurring business is better than constantly having to chase down new business.
  • Marriage is hard, but after 10 years, 3 babies and a TON of moves, I look forward to being his best friend & supporting his goals like he has always done for me.
  • Having kids is the greatest reason to live up to your God-given potential. They are this mission field. They are the assignment! You are doing hard and holy work!
  • Hard times till the soil of purpose- stay engaged, stay curious and keep learning.

What a ride this past month has been! Partially moving across the country after we closed on our house, the journey to finding more peace for myself in this season and really assessing what I need in the middle of caring for everyone else.

What I've learned over the years is that you cannot pour from an empty cup. This cliche quote is spot on in many seasons as a wife, mama and business owner. Burn out is a real thing. Burn out because of people pleasing or "shoulding" your life away leaves you drained and with so many regrets of what you didn't actually do.

At the end of your life, how you live it has nothing to do with what other people thought of you and EVERYTHING to do with did you do what YOU knew you were called to do or felt called to do.

Your life doesn't just happen. You make it happen.

Takeaways from this episode:

  • Good things are not always God things.
  • Filling your life with only good things can keep you distracted from the God things.
  • The platform without the purpose is a distraction.
  • Success without a successor is meaningless.
  • Lies spoken in love are still lies.
  • God answers bold prayers because bold prayers seek God.

Let's be honest, summertime as a mama and juggling your business or working full time is tough. It's tough mentally, but also scheudling-wise. You want to be present for everything, be the "FUN" mom who is saying yes and creating this magical summer for your kids.

Thanks to the ever- present reminder from social media of just how short our summers with our kids are, it puts so much pressure on us to lay everything down and just do all the things to keep our kids entertained and make every memory magical.

But with the right balance in the way of structure and routine it can start to suffocate you a little.

I will be the first to tell you that I thrive off of routine and in the summer it's nice to be a little more lax about our daily schedule. However, too much lax makes my kids LAZY and lack motivation to achieve even the simplest of things.

What I came up with for my family is simple, but effective and includes things like daily habits that they NEED to accomplish for basic hygiene and care. I then added in some other things that they get credit for- like scripture memory, one lesson a day to keep their brains active, one chore a day from a chore jar with age appropriate chores and encourages behaviors that care for the things they have, like cleaning their rooms daily.

Maybe this is for you, maybe it's not but I hope you find this episode encouraging this summer as you shift the way you work, the way you mom and accomplish daily things so that you can enjoy summer without feeling overwhelmed to have it all together. Some things will get set to the side and that's 100% expected unless you have a team behind you!

Whatever you feel called to in this season- just do it.

That's not savvy business advice but at the same time it is. Whatever you feel called to do, going to create it, set aside to make it become reality whether it be a new product or service launch or learning how to make sourdough. You owe it to yourself to OWN this season of your life. I see too many mompreneurs who spend so much of their time in the SHOULD.

I should go to the gym.

I should launch a new course.

I should post on social media.

I should drink more water.

What we doubt we dwell on. I've been in this place and in THIS season, I'm fully honoring where I'm at, not shoulding on myself about what I'm not doing.

When you spend life in the present, present of heart and mind, your creativity, focus and intention zeros in on what's next without TRYING so hard.

Creation is a natural flow of inspiration from our daily lives.

Click here to subscribe to the newsletter- it's not 100% consistent right now but it is 100% packed with value!

If you are a mama, you understand that there is this invisible load of motherhood.

It is existential, and it's never ending!

This is that always going on in your mind, the To-do list that keeps you up at 2:00 AM makes it hard to go to sleep.

You're thinking, how am I ever going to get all of these things done?

We're afraid to ask for help. We're overwhelmed at the same time.

If we talk about it, we're complaining. Does that make you exhausted?

Just listening to that? Cause that makes me exhausted!

So how do we break out of this invisible load of motherhood?

  1. Designate days to get things done- chores, to- dos, honey-dos,
  2. Invite your kids to participate in whatever needs to be done- this includes helping prep meals, clean up their rooms, clean up toys, bring laundry to the laundry room. Anything you have on your to-do list that you kids can help with (its' more than you probably are letting them help with currently).
  3. Have conversations with your spouse if you're married, that are SPECIFIC to easing the load that's on your plate. Men typically want to help you be less stressed they simply are just LOST on what would actually make a difference.
  4. Get in community with other women! This has been SUCH AN INTEGRAL PART of this season of my motherhood success. It takes a village isn't just a saying... It's a way of life! I couldn't do what I do without the women in my community either trading services, time, childcare, goods etc... It has made a TREMENDOUS impact in my life and business.

Stop feeling guilty about what you "should" do. You should do exactly what you feel called to doing. This is your life, your journey and how you want to do it should not be a topic of discussion for anyone except for the people inside of your home.

Need a community, want to collaborate- click here https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScpI9VkkCvZA636c2fJKL3B06L72oY-1hc37-Us4apiz3U3RA/viewform?usp=share_link

What is keeping people from say HECK YES when you throw down your business offer?

These are called barrier to entries.

Because so many different kinds of businesses are run on the internet, the barriers to entry are not the same for all.

For many women, it's time, money, kids, having an overly full plate and what you're wanting them to say yes too requires too much time, money or attention.

If you can simplify their yes, and be a helping solution to the problem they already have, you'll minimize the number of times you hear yes from your ideal client.

Are you a mompreneur or a mama that's being made to feel about your role in this world?

Maybe you've heard the same things I've heard- that this role in life is not a real job, it's not hard, people don't understand why women are so whiny about being home with their children & mess. I actually got into a stitch battle with a single dude on tiktok (so silly) about this very thing!

So let me speak to you from experience as a first generation, that skipped 2 generations (my great grandmother stayed at home and raised babies and took care of her homestead but that's what women did then... and it's what many women are coming back to!) my grandmother & my mother both worked. It's ALL WORK!!

Whether you're doing it inside of your home, in an office and then coming home or juggling different things at one time to hold it down for your family.

YOU'RE A FREAKING UNICORN!!

It's hard, gritty work that requires your mindset around the things you're doing to evolve, that requires compassion for your season and situation and that requires a HEAPING of grace that you're not going to find from many people in the world.

Here's what I know- If I live for the world's approval, I'll die by their criticism. If I live for the Lord, I will be found worthy, loved and in continual pursuit of what Kingdom growth, love & leadership looks like in any given season.

Do your part- share your story! Love on the other mamas around you and share your insight that it will be okay, they will get through this and HECK- they might even build some really amazing community and really cool friends in the process!

Welcome to the GOLDEN episode born totally out of inspiration from real time conversations with every day women just like me.

We are often times, wives, mothers, entrepreneurs, working jobs, caring for our loved ones and wanting so desperately to experience a breakthrough in our purpose.

Here's the thing--> NO ONE wants to live a life that has no meaning or lacks purpose. Millionaires, billionaires and beyond something amass great wealth but still commit suicide because there was no purpose. They didn't have a meaning to life outside of work and making money. There is so much more to life and when you unlock it an entire world of potential, purpose and promise opens for you!

LETS DIVE IN!!

If you're not on my email list for this podcast- GET THERE! I'm dropping some juicy bits and giving you some extra goodness that you can't get by just listening to the podcasts! Let's go take some action!!

Building a course is a work of art! It takes time, honing your skill and being able to deliver it in a way that your audience can consume it, engage with it and GET RESULTS! So lets dive into the process a bit!

  1. What is your goal with the course? What results do you hope that your clients will see by applying your method, framework or program?
  2. Who are you trying to attract? What are their pain points?
  3. What are the solutions that you offer? Is there clarity around what results you are offering & want them to get?
  4. How long, how much & when? Launching can get hectic so just keep it simple! How long is the course, how much are you charging & when does it start?
  5. Do the do. Don’t let fear of failure or not being perfect keep you from launching your signature program this year!

This key focus on just doing it messy & doing it afraid has amplified my business.

I didn’t know how to launch a podcast but I’m now 6 episodes in.

I didn’t know anything about project management and strategy until I dove in and was willing to learn.

I didn’t know much about social media strategy but I was hungry and coachable.

The things you desire this year are on the other side of your hesitation.

Stop worrying that you’re going to be wrong. At some point you will! I was wrong last week & dropped the ball, but I ate humble pie, asked for grace and am still here to talk about it.

When you tell your story, create a way for other people to step into you vision, you give them the opportunity to make educated buyer decisions when they CHOOSE to buy from you!

Looking for some help with social media strategy, marketing, or content? Need someone to help you lay out your course, get the copy aligned with your messaging & branding or even start putting the pieces together? Choose the call that’s right for you!

The year is new but you are the same you! True to your core and ready to experience some breakthrough- I hear you!!

This episode is dedicated to all of the women, close and far who are ready to see God do the miraculous this year. In my opinion there are 4 things you can truly do to prepare your heart and mind for all that is waiting for you.

This year when you go into your intentions here are a couple of things that I do to help me stay focused and intentional for the year.

  • Choose a word & Build support around that word through songs, prayer, affirmations.

  • Know yourself & improve through personality tests. I used the love language, color code, enneagram & strengths finder test (linked at the bottom)

-Find your people & build accountability for yourself to help keep you focused.

-Document the things you are thinking about-write down your goals, aspirations, your financial goals, your spiritual goals, your physical goals, things you want to purchase. Write down things you are willing to sacrifice as well as things you're not willing to sacrifice. Put it all down on paper.

The next 4 things are the MOST important to do once you've written everything else down.

  1. Pray- pray for your journey, your year, your steps and mindfully go there every day with the Lord

  2. Prepare- we cannot only pray, we must also prepare. Your mind, your body, your home, your environment. Make way for the miracle you're praying for.

  3. Prune- it's time to stop hanging onto the things in our lives that are dragging us down. People, places and things. Take out the trash, trim the fat and make margin for blessings this year.

  4. Promise- stay in true alignment with God's promise to you. How? Repeat steps 1-3 until the promise comes to pass!

Ennegram- The Enneagram Personality Test (truity.com)

Strengthsfinder- Compare CliftonStrengths Assessment Options | EN - Gallup

Upon research the strengths finder assessment is no longer free, but worth the $59 investment.

What I find often as an entrepreneur myself and as a strategy & growth coach is clients who are paying WAY too much for resources that they're not using consistently.

The key to growing anything falls under the umbrellas of discipline, habit & taking consistent action.

Where MANY I see online fall off is when they get shiny penny syndrome. This is a coined reference in the entrepreneur world, primarily among network marketers who jump from company to company or coaches who create a hundred different resources or courses that they're never selling. Unless you're working for someone else, sales are a part of a growing, profitable business.

The resources that your paying for in your business should serve to streamline your processes so that everything that you do in and around your business has a purpose. This cuts down on aimless working or sitting down to work and not knowing what to do. Create processes early and follow through!

Some of the tools I mentioned in this podcast are; Canva, Calendly, Flodesk, Convert kit, Freshbooks, Quickbooks, Trello, Hootsuite, Planoly, Google drive, Click Up, Wordpress, Kajabi, Kartra.

You can look at any of these tools and see which one is right for your business and if you need help- shoot me an email kmcgilvrayfitness@gmail.com, subject line I NEED HELP IN MY BUSINESS.

My year of rest stemmed from a calling on my heart to be present and focused on my health, my children's health, being the heart of my home and really seeking God's will for my life.

When you step outside of what's "normal" for everyone else it's hard, it's scary and there can be a lot of back-lash because it effects other people.

This year has not only allowed me to be where my feet are but to grow in my faith, put my family back at the center where they belong, grow my business even while doing less outward work, and align my priorities with my goals for the future.
