Hebrews 11:1-25
Chapter 11 is perhaps the most well-known in the book of Hebrews, often referred to as The Hall of Faith. Hebrews 10:26-39
There is a sanctifying power in encouragement, and there is a sanctifying power in the fear of the living God. After the threefold appeal and exhortation in the earlier verses of chapter 10, the apostle returns to a note of warning, the fourth of the five warning passages in the Epistle to the Hebrews. This particular warning which we come to in chapter 10, verse 26, is about the willful, persistent, deliberate, and conscious turning of one's back upon God. Listen as Rev. Alexander carefully takes us through these verses, encouraging us in our faith and weaknesses and reminding us not to shrink back.

While that is our primary duty, Eric Alexander points out we also have a duty to confess our hope before the world and to stir one another up to love and good works. Listen as Eric Alexander exhorts us from Hebrews 8 to rediscover the surpassing worth of the Lord Jesus Christ as our only mediator between God and men on Hear the Word of God.
Hebrews 7
It is evident from Scripture that Jesus is from the tribe of Judah; how therefore does He come to be the supreme and perfect High Priest? This week on Hear the Word of God, Eric Alexander helps us answer that question. As the writer of Hebrews explains, God promised a different order of priesthood, not a fleshly order, not an order that belongs to the law, but the order that belongs to a new covenant, the covenant of grace, of whom Melchizedek is the shadow, and Jesus is a reality. We have a great High Priest who is holy, guileless, undefiled, and who intercedes for His people. Praise God!
Hebrews 6:4-20
The sixth chapter of Hebrews has understandably caused distress for some as it introduces a particularly solemn warning regarding the impossibility of restoration for a certain kind of person. But rather than leaving us with a sense of despair and hopelessness, these words are intended to galvanize us into going on with God. Listen as Eric Alexander encourages believers today on Hear the Word of God.
The Hebrews experienced great suffering for their obedience to Christ, and the strong temptation they faced was to stop persevering in that obedience. Where was their hope? When we feel the same way, where is ours? Our hope is in Christ, for there is no area of our suffering in obedience to the will of God which He has not Himself experienced in the ultimate. Eric Alexander exhorts believers to growing obedience in this episode of Hear the Word of God.
Hebrews 5:5-6:3
The central theme of the Epistle to the Hebrews is Jesus' superiority as the Great High Priest, for it addresses the very core of human life, that which everything revolves around: man in relation to God. Hebrews 3:1-4:13
Hebrews 3
In Chapter 3 of Hebrews, we find the author of the epistle writing to a people clearly in the midst of spiritual danger. They are at risk of a spiritual sickness overtaking them and incapacitating them. And they were, therefore, in great danger of slipping away. What is the answer to this kind of spiritual sickness? This week on Hear the Word of God, Eric Alexander tells us the medicine for the Hebrew Christians and us today is to apply Holy Scripture to the soul so we may enter God's rest.
Far from being the glorious figure God made, man is a tragic ruin. The world is meant to be subject to man, but we find man in bondage, subject to sin and death. The answer to this tragedy of man is found in the man Christ Jesus. All that God means for man to become that sin has robbed him of, he may become again in Jesus Christ. The man Christ Jesus became "a brother in adversity to us." Listen this week to Hear the Word of God as Rev. Eric Alexander addresses why Christ must be born as man.
Hebrews 2:10-18
There are warnings in Scripture about not being serious. We should not take the things of God lightly and be flippant in our attitude. Throughout Hebrews, you get this perfect biblical balance between encouragement and exhortation and hope on the one hand and, on the other hand, words of solemn warning about the consequences of turning back — a perfect biblical balance. If we do not take God and his salvation seriously, what things will we take seriously? In this episode of Hear the Word of God, Eric Alexander encourages us not to be careless in our attitude to the Word of God "lest we drift away from it."
Hebrews 2:1-9
The theme of Hebrews is the surpassing glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the heir of all things appointed by God. He is the one from whom all things have ultimately come because he is the creator of the world. He is the radiance of God's glory, the exact image of his nature, the upholder of the universe, the one who has provided purification for our sins. And he is seated now at the right hand of the majesty and high. In this episode of Hear the Word of God, Rev. Alexander takes us through Hebrews 1:4-14, discussing the theme of the superiority of the Lord Jesus Christ to the angels. Why all these verses devoted to angels? What are we to think about angels? Some sections of the early church were misled and confused about angels. Some in the Church today get sidetracked—whether by angels or some other distractions. Eric's message encourages us not to be diverted from the very anchor of our souls and to come to know him in all His fullness and glory.
Hebrews 1:4-14
God is not a God who delights in hiding Himself from His creatures; He wants to show Himself to them. And He has done so in various ways. The very creation itself is evidence that God is a God who wants to be known. The heavens declare the glory of God—the whole earth is full of His glory. But the writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews is telling us that the supreme way God manifests Himself to men is by speaking. Not by creation, but by speaking—supremely and savingly because He is a speaking God. Listen as Eric Alexander continues his study of Hebrews 1:1-3.
Most of us know parts of the Epistle to the Hebrews very well, like the 11th chapter and its great account of the heroes of faith. And we know at least part of the 12th well about running the race that is set before us. And the verse that speaks of Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever. But as a whole, it's probably true that Hebrews is one of the neglected areas of the New Testament because it is not the easiest New Testament book to grasp and understand. Listen to Hear the Word of God as Eric begins this study of Hebrews with an overview and then hones in on the main point— in Jesus, everything is better.
Hebrews 1:1-3
