Thanks for wandering through nature with me. Today I am in the field with my lovely wife, counting birds for the Christmas Bird Count. Bev and I are driving around the East Aurora, NY area counting birds for this citizen science program. The CBC is an Audubon bird count that started more than 100 years ago to help scientists to discover how bird populations are doing.
During the episode I talk about what the CBC is all about, the history of it, how to participate and much more. Join us on this fun wandering through nature
I apologize for the poor sound quality of this episode. Between the noisy snow tires, the mike rubbing against the mirror and the road noise around us, it was difficult to edit all the background noise out. I am working on better methods of recording in the car so that this will be better at next years CBC.

Thanks for wandering through nature with me. In this episode I am at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY. Cemeteries are a great place to find nature. They are usually quite quiet and undisturbed. Wildlife abounds in these holy places. Take a walk through the cemetery to discover what I find there.
Apologies and corrections: I would like to apologize for the sound quality of this episode. After recording this, I listened to it in the studio while editing and discovered an annoying loud white noise throughout the entire episode. When I cleaned it up, it made my voice sound strange.
Also during the episode I said that I was walking along Cazenovia Creek. It is Scajaquada Creek that runs through Buffalo and the cemetery. I apologize for my brain fart.

Thanks for wandering through nature with me. Today I am exploring the art of tracking. Tracking is more than just figuring out who left the footprints behind. It is also about what was the animal doing? Where was it going. Why was it there. I invite you to take a walk through my property in search of these tracks and the stories that they tell. I tell you the techniques that will help you discover the mysteries of your own backyard.

Let's wander through the fields and forests to find the bird that we love to invite to our Thanksgiving dinner each year. This magnificent bird in the wild is quite different than his domestic cousin. Learn the differences and the similarities as well as some fun facts about the bird that Ben Franklin admired more than the bald eagle.

Join me as I wander through nature exploring the amazing things that the natural world has to offer for us to explore. This week I head out into the woods in the middle of the night to capture saw-whet owls as they migrate through the area. We then band the birds and release them back to the wild so that they can continue their journeys south. I'll explain the entire process.
