Sitting in the sun with the air thick with the aromas of spices, sweets and incense, it’s easy to get embraced and whisked away by the Dubai lifestyle. But there’s more to Dubai than it’s opulence and luxuries. Although it could be said that dates are one of the luxuries here. The Arabs have long been eating dates as part of their traditions dating back to the 4th Millenium BC. My copious daily consumption got me curious and a little concerned on their true nutritional value. Today I will unravel some of the incredible qualities packed into dates that can have a huge impact on your daily health and life. So switch up your usual sweetener options such as can sugar and jaggery for some natural, nutritious dates! Relaxation has become a skill in itself. When we’re feeling uptight or getting irritated and stressed, on of the first things our family, friends or colleagues will likely say to us is: ‘relax’. How many of us actually know what it means to relax? How many of us wait until we are fully exhausted before considering to start relaxing? I’m afraid by then it’s too late! It is incredibly important to have designated time for relaxation throughout your day even if just for a few seconds to minutes at a time. That way, you prevent yourself becoming overloaded and inefficient leading to burnout. Please remember leave a review on your chosen listening platform. In my books, perfection doesn’t exist. If it does, then it means I have no more room for growth, development and discovery. And that just bodes for a life of pressure and stress and missing out on the beautiful journey. Delaying things until the ‘perfect’ moment or having the ‘perfect’ figure and knowledge is just a another great procrastination technique. All the greats talk about learning from their mistakes, getting back up and taking the next path. In fact, by trying and putting yourself out there means you’ll get to the goal faster and be able to teach others: that’s a win-win for me! This is exactly what I’ve been able to do: from being an exhausted and burnout Doctor to now having balance and energy in my career and life, and I am here to help you achieve the same. What is period poverty? Is it only a problem of developing countries? So far this week, we have spoken about the luxuries of tracking your periods, synching with your seasons and optimising your diet and exercise. However, all of that is irrelevant when you’re struggling to meet your basic hygiene needs during the period itself. Globally, the social and cultural stigma around periods remains strong. What is a natural and beautiful process without which our race would not exist, has been made into an impure, unsociable and “for women’s ears only” experience. Periods must be normalised and this is only achieved through education and sharing of ACCURATE facts surrounding menstrual cycles. This will then enable societies to understand the need for girls to be provided sanitary products and proper toilet and hand washing facilities at schools. There countless charities helping empower girls by ending period poverty with reusable sanitary products. I have linked a charity I personally support in Sierra Leone. We can start helping today by informing ourselves and spreading the word. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/agirlatatime-dignitykits?utm_term=ebvAeM5R8
