Tomorrow is the last day to register to vote for the upcoming Nebraska Primary Election in person at your county election office. Visit your local election office to register before 6 PM on May 1, 2026, if you’ve never registered before, or if you’ve had changes to your name, address, or political party affiliation.
Absentee ballot requests must also be submitted by 6 PM tomorrow, May 1, 2026. Applications can be submitted by email. Print and complete an early voting application form, and email a signed copy to your local election official before the deadline.

Key Ballot Measures + Vote “For” Initiative 434 to establish baseline protections for preborn babies and preserve our state’s pro-life laws and parental notification requirements. + Vote “Retain” Referendum 435 to allow low-income and special needs students to continue to receive educational scholarships to attend the school of their family’s choice. + Vote “Against” Initiative 439* to reject a radical proposal that authorizes painful late-term dismemberment abortions and jeopardizes the safety of women and children.

Nebraska’s Primary Election is just days away, and Nebraska Family Alliance is here to equip you with everything you need to know about voting requirements and the candidates who will appear on your ballot with our personalized voter guide!
1. BRING AN ID WITH YOUThis will be the state’s first election with a voter ID law. In 2022, voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional amendment to require photo identification when voting. You must bring a valid photo ID with you to the polls in order to cast your ballot.
There are many options for what you can use as an ID, and it can even be expired. Options include a Nebraska driver’s license or state ID, U.S. passport, military ID, tribal ID, hospital, assisted-living facility, or nursing home record, and even a Nebraska college or university ID.
Keep in mind that birth certificates, Medicare or Medicaid cards, out-of-state driver’s licenses and college IDs, Social Security cards, Costco cards, utility bills, bank statements, and voter registration cards cannot be used as your voter ID.
If you forget to bring your ID on Election Day, you can submit a provisional ballot at your polling precinct. For that ballot to count, you’ll need to bring your ID to your county election office on or before Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

To help you make an informed decision, NFA researched the candidates and put together an online, easy-to-use election resource guide!
ACCESS THE 2023 CITY ELECTION RESOURCE GUIDEOn our election resource guide, you’ll find the candidates’ party affiliation, incumbency status, and links to the candidates’ websites to learn more about where they stand on the issues.
You’ll also be able to access upcoming election deadlines, a personalized sample ballot, and information about your polling place! The deadline to request an absentee ballot for Tuesday’s primary has passed, but you can request one for the General Election here.
WHY THIS MATTERSLast spring, Nebraska Family Alliance led a city-wide petition drive to overturn an unconstitutional gender-identity bathroom ordinance that passed unanimously in the Lincoln City Council. In just 14 days, we collected 18,501 signatures, blocking the so-called “Fairness Ordinance” from taking effect.
While we were successful in protecting women and girls, local businesses, and churches from this particular proposal, the cumbersome referendum process served as a meaningful reminder that local elections matter.
The leaders that represent us at City Hall make decisions every day concerning places we frequent, our neighborhoods, children’s schools, and our families’ day-to-day lives. Vote your values this Tuesday, pray God-honoring candidates advance, and share our election resources with your friends and family!
