As we open the gospels and look at the lives of those who encountered Jesus, Susy explores how an encounter with Jesus can transform how we look at money and possessions.
Nicodemus was a Pharisee who came to Jesus at night, and that encounter changed him completely! (John 3:1-9)
Paul explores the depth of that, talks about his own encounter with the Spirit, and how we should be open to the Spirit making changes in our lives too.
As we come to the end of our short series 'Practicing the Way' (inspired by John Mark Comer's book) we explore what it will look like for each of us to "do what Jesus did"? What was it exactly that Jesus did? And how can we possibly follow in His footsteps?
In this talk, Nick encourages us to have a plan for being an apprentice of Jesus and challenges us to take some practical next steps that will bring real transformation.

At this time of year as we approach Easter we often move quickly past The Cross to get to the joy of Easter and resurrection. But we need to pause and ask what does the crucifixion mean for us and how we live life? How do we be a church that proclaims the power of the cross?
In Mark's account of Jesus' life, we read that at the beginning of his ministry Jesus declared: “The time has come, The Kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Daniel was a man of prayer. It was his habit to pray three times a day, even when it was made illegal. Prayer was a vital part of Daniel’s life.

What appalls you? What might derail your trust in God? What might keep you from developing resilient faith? In Daniel Chapter 8, Daniel is appalled - he struggles to understand what is going on around him. How do we develop faithful perseverance and recognise that the story is not yet over?
As we continue our series on the book of Daniel, we explore questions like how do we develop resilient faith whilst living under 'empire'? How do we maintain hope despite the situations we find ourselves in? How can we be resilient in our faith when it doesn’t seem like God is "winning"? How do we continue to trust God when we experience cruelty and chaos?
Guest Speaker Rob Halligan speaks on Daniel Chapter 6; Daniel in the Lion's Den. How do we live in exile, recognising "mundane miracles" along the journey and growing in faith and trust?
Nick continues our series on the book of Daniel called "Resilient Faith". One sure thing to destroy faith is pride, and we will see how two kings wrestle with pride and humility. Resilient faith depends on humility.

Mike is the author of "Daniel: Being Distinctive in Uncertain Times" a great commentary on the first 3 chapters of the book of Daniel. The book "sheds an incredibly insightful light onto contemporary culture, history and religion, creating links between our modern world and what we can learn from the story of Daniel."
This week Nick continues our series looking at the life of Daniel. Although an exile in Babylon, Daniel is able to develop a resilient faith that enables him to thrive. How does he navigate the culture he finds himself in with wisdom despite the threat of death? How do we stay resilient in our faith, cultivate wisdom and make good decisions?

As a young man, Daniel was taken from his country and grew up in a culture that attempted to eradicate his faith.

Come Holy Spirit is a prayer the church of Jesus Christ has been praying in many forms over many centuries. You will hear this simple prayer, in some form, being prayed in virtually every Vineyard church around the world - but how can we pray ‘Come, Holy Spirit’ when we already have the Holy Spirit?
In this talk Nick explains that it is only with and through the power of the Holy Spirit that we can do the work Jesus has given us to do. Only through the Holy Spirit can we join him in building the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth.

Billy Graham once commented that “The most desperate need of the nation today is that men and women who profess Jesus be filled with the Holy Spirit.” As we start this new series we ask: What does it mean to pray “Come, Holy Spirit”? How and why should we be filled with the Holy Spirit?
Nick reminds us that Jesus was empowered by the Holy Spirit, and in the same way the Holy Spirt has been given us. He equips and empowers God’s people to continue the mission of Jesus and communicate the message of Jesus.
So, what if we were obedient to the Holy Spirit and followed his prompting wherever that may lead?
What if we dedicated ourselves to receiving more of the Holy Spirit, spending time with him, learning from him?
Nick communicates our shared vision as a church family; highlighting our journey from the last year and where we are going and what we are focusing on this coming year.

What part can I play in creating a space where people can experience God's presence?
What part can I play in helping people be a disciple and make disciples?
What will it take for me to thrive?
In this talk, Vicki looks at the story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 to outline hospitality as Jesus’ main way of preaching the gospel to the outcasts or those on the edge of society, bringing them into community. We also look at the main problems or concerns that may get in the way of hospitality today, and what we can do about them.
How can we live out radically ordinary hospitality? Our homes as not ours at all, but God's gift to use for the furtherance of His Kingdom.
What if evangelism is simply joining God in the conversation he is already having with someone? This week we look at how to share the Good News of Jesus in culturally sensitive ways as we continue our series: Preach the GOSPEL.
Colossians 4:2-6 says "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
Nick kicks off our new series 'Preach the Gospel' by sharing some practical tips on how we share God's love with those around us, showing them what it means to be a follower of Jesus. If 'Evangelism' is a big scary word for you, be encouraged that we are simply joining in the conversation that God is already having with someone.
3 questions you may want to spend some time pondering:
1) What is it that you believe about God?
2) How do you join in the conversation that God is already having with the people you meet? How do you follow the Holy Spirit's prompting in this?
3) How do you express the love of God to someone? What does this look like for you?
Nick concludes our series on the book of Matthew with the Great Commission.
We look at what is known as the great commission, or the final commandments Jesus gives to his disciples after his death and resurrection, before he returns to heaven.
Matthew 28:18-20 says:
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

What does the cross mean to you?
As we draw our journey through the gospel of Matthew to its shocking conclusion we ask “How does the death of King Jesus establish the kingdom of God and affect our lives today?” and “Where do you need the light of the kingdom to break into the darkness?”
This week we look at Revolution. In Matthew 27:11-26, the people have a choice between two people: Jesus and Barabbas.
For Jesus, freedom is not worth killing for but it is worth dying for. When Jesus says to us “go and make disciples…”, it is clear that he is sending the disciples as revolutionaries into the world. However, instead of a revolution built on hatred, Jesus brings a revolution built on love: a revolution, called the “Kingdom of God”.
Instead of the way of power, Jesus sets out the way of humility. Which will we choose?
This week Nick looks at the relationship between Jesus and Peter. We look at how a man whose faith and courage Jesus would use to build his church upon failed completely and utterly. We will also discuss how failure is transformed in the crucible of repentance (through acknowledging that we need to ask for forgiveness).
This week we ask the questions:
How do you respond to failure?
How do you respond when your faith comes under fire or when your very identity as a follower or disciple of Jesus is questioned?
The term 'Judas' has become synonymous in our society with betrayal. He stands as one of the most complex characters not only in the bible but also in the whole of literature. He was one of Jesus' inner circle, one of the disciples and a trusted friend and partner in building God's kingdom on earth with Jesus. In the passage we will look at today, Judas chooses to betray Jesus.
Nick continues our series reading through the Gospel of Matthew.
Gethsemane was a pivotal moment in the life of Jesus, place where Jesus confronted the overwhelming enormity of what he was face.
What can we learn from Jesus?
How can we respond when life overwhelms us or when we experience disappointment and pain?
How do we respond when life is not how you thought it would be?
Nick continues our series reading through the Gospel of Matthew as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
Jesus had a last meal with his disciples but what is the significance of this for us as we follow the King and His Kingdom?

Hypocrisy is one of the biggest accusations against the church and for good reason. The church is made up of messed up broken people and their congregations. Jesus hated hypocrisy. How do we remove our masks and become authentic followers of Jesus? How do we practice the way of Jesus?
This week Nick dives into Matthew 22:34-40, asking 'What does it look like to love God and our neighbours in 2022? What does it look like to respond to Jesus' invitation to a new way of life?'
As we continue our journey through advent Nick asks:
What do we expect of Christmas and this coming year?
How does the message of Christmas change our attitudes towards life and people?
How are our hopes and fears met in the person of Jesus and the power of His Kingdom?
This week is Vision Sunday, where we will be outlining what to expect of Coventry Vineyard in 2022 and how we as a church community will be moving forward together.
Speaking from Matthew 21:31-22:14, Nick asks "What do you expect of church?” and “Who is church and the kingdom for?”
This week we are in Matthew 21:1-13, a passage all about expectations.
What happens when our expectations turn to disappointment? How does a disciple of Jesus walk through the pain of disappointment of life and then live in expectation of the King and his Kingdom?
Serena explores life in the inner circle of the disciples and the challenge to lay your life down as a ransom for many.
Nick and Vicki share our third core value: Express love in practical ways. How can we serve and love our neighbours in ways that demonstrate the love and compassion of God?
This week we are looking in Matthew 20:1-16, at the parable of the labourers in the vineyard.
We can often feel overlooked or left out, but God sees us & calls us wherever we are right now. He challenges us to be part of a varied community where there will be people doing better and worse than us, but the pay is always the same- way beyond what we ever deserve.

Who do you say I am?This is the question that Jesus asks Peter. I am not interested in what other people say, Peter, I want to know what you think. (Matthew 16:13-20)
As I [Serena] have been preparing my talk for this week I am convinced that this is a key question for us to answer. Jesus’s response to Peter, one of his closest friends, is so encouraging as well. Flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but the very Spirit of God. If Jesus recognised that some revelation cannot be taught, how much more then, can we rely on our faithful teacher the Holy Spirit to reveal things to us and our neighbours. This week we will explore the confidence and joy that comes as we understand who is this man Jesus.
Nick and Vicki share our first core value: Encourage worship in everyday life. Why is worship so central to all that we do?
This week, we explore Matthew 15. This is a provocative passage which speaks right to the heart of what it means to be a disciple. In this talk Nick looks at how religious rules can actually lead us away from the heart of Jesus. Today’s talk also contains some essential news about where we will be meeting in person from September 12th.
Fear prevents us from living out the challenge of following Jesus. Fear will prevent you from being an obedient follower of Jesus. In this talk Nick speaks from Matthew 14:22-33 and shares how we can step out in faith and out of a place of comfort and security and join Jesus in what he is already doing in our communities and in the lives of our friends and neighbours.
In this message John reflects on the lessons we can learn from the story of the feeding of the five thousand. The key question is how should we respond when we are asked, by Jesus, to do what seems impossible to us?
We continue to be spurred on by the Spirit of God calling us to become one church of disciple-making disciples in multiple locations. This is a call to each of us.

And so as a church community we are refocusing and revising our attention, our hopes and our lives on the King and His Kingdom.
