Welcome to the Cailabs Podcast, "We shape the light"! Light is used everywhere around us, and photonics, or the science of light, is central to many industries: telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing, health, defense… At Cailabs, we believe that beam shaping, meaning the engineering of the shape of light, can help solve the world’s most urgent industrial and technological challenges. But what exactly is light shaping? What are the industries that can benefit from it, and what does it solve? How does it work, and what are the technical challenges to its application? With experts within Cailabs and in the photonics community, we are going to explore all these questions, and much more!
In a previous episode, we defined OAM (Orbital Angular Momentum) waves and looked at their properties. In this podcast written by Tangi Le Guennic, we will focus on OAM generators and compare some options available on the market today.

Julien Bayol and Guillaume Bouquet are going to talk about laser macro-processing, or in other words: manufacturing parts at a super-millimetric scale, using lasers.
Everyone is aware of the critical need for connectivity, digital communication has exploded in recent years and now plays a major role in campuses.
The ever increasing need for high data speed in networks is due to the development of bandwidth consuming applications.
This change in communication method has a direct impact on the underlying cabling infrastructure. In order to facilitate this expansion and avoid congestion problems, local networks need to constantly improve their performance
In this episode of We shape light podcast series, Jean-Philippe Gauthier, presales engineer at Cailabs and Kevin Lengle, product line manager for the AROONA series, will dispel some myths about the capacity limitation of legacy optical fibers in local area networks, and how to overcome those limitations thanks to unique Cailabs’ technology.
We can do a lot of nice things with lasers, including manufacturing! Watches, cell phones, TVs, cars, not to mention planes have all, somehow, during their manufacturing process, be hit by a laser.
The world of laser manufacturing is divided into two: macro-processing (large-scale manufacturing) and micro-processing (small-scale manufacturing).
In this podcast, we will focus on how laser micro-processes can be improved when we shape the light.
Listen to Gwenn Pallier, CANUNDA product line manager at Cailabs and Guillaume Bouquet, CANUNDA International area manager at Cailabs, discussing standards, applications, challenges, etc. when it comes to laser material micro-processing.
Laser communication is the new dawn of free space communication. Very complementary to radiofrequency technologies, it provides very high speed, license free and secure networks.
The technology has been demonstrated more than 20 years ago, yet it has struggled in the past to capture its share of the telecommunication market. So, what has changed? Why is now everybody talking about laser communication as a major change in our networks architecture?
In this podcast, David Allioux, Laser communication product manager at Cailabs will be joined by Olivier Jacques-Sermet, Laser communication business development manager at Cailabs, to discuss the new market trends of laser communication.
Pu Jian, VP of Products at Cailabs hosts the 1st episode of “We shape the light”! To begin our journey to the beam shaping revolution, she tackles the 2 questions asked the most by customers and partners: what is beam shaping and how do we make it work at Cailabs?
To answer that, the 1st guest of our podcast series is our very own Guillaume Labroille, CTO and co-founder of Cailabs.
