The God Whisperers Classic: Recent Episodes

Craig Donofrio

The God Whisperers pioneered Podcasting in 1968. Bill and Craig then went on to invent the interwebs - Al Gore took the credit - until the polar caps melted and the world ended in 2018 - as he predicted in his 2006 movie.

The God Whisperers Classic is the archives of the most mediocre podcast in world history which was met with great international acclaim and then the world took a collective nap out of boredom after the episode was over.

Whereas Gold Bond never did send those tee-shirts to the Manly Doctors of Divinity, still believe it is the best for keeping your mailbag dry.

The GW are joined by Heather Choate Davis (heatherchoatedavis.com) for a lively discussion of the “priesthood of believers.” What was once a pillar doctrine of the 16th century Reformation seems to be largely forgotten today. What happened? How do we recover it? What does it mean for the church today?

The GW discuss being extoverted (Donofrio) or introverted (Cwirla) and what it means as a pastor in the public eye. They also kick the theological ball around the four corners of theology and talk about what makes doctrines and why we need them.

An episode that literally developed legs and  crawled out of the primordial ooze. Does Evolution and Big Bang Theory even matter to the Christian faith? Can grace be cheapened? Can we have too much grace? Plus, the sketchy origins of the Missouri Synod and the name change of the choir formerly known as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Make sense? We didn’t think so either. Enjoy.

The 100th episode anniversary gold keeps on coming, thanks to our good friend Brian Yamabe, who excerpted and compiled these clips.  There is some great third microphone sound with Michael “Internet Monk” Spencer (1956-2010) who died in the Lord earlier this year.  This one’s for you, our dear Baptist friend.

We’re still searching for the missing Episode 100.  Rumor has it that it may turn up on Monday, just in time for PCR airing.  Stay tuned.

Well, we set out to talk about article 22, but we got distracted a bit by an early Christmas present that we opened on the air.  When we finally get around to it, Article 22 of the Augsburg Confession is the first of the correct articles dealing with abuses and errors of the medieval Roman church.  The first on the table is communion under one kind (bread only) for the laity.

We’re whispering live from Craig’s backyard in a special “3rd microphone” edition of the God Whisperers. While the steaks and brats are browning on the BBQ, we’re talking with anyone who can take the heat in front of the 3rd mic, including Chris Rosebrough, the founder of Pirate Christian Radio, apologist and campus pastor Mark Jasa, marriage and family therapist Steve Lownes (whose 55th birthday was the occasion of the BBQ), and more. It’s Lutherans gone wild in Craig’s backyard here on The God Whisperers.

Who is Jesus?  That’s the most important question of your life.  He’s the utterly unique, one-of-a-kind, divine-human who said he would die on a cross and rise from the dead and actually managed to pull it off.  Dizzy Dean once said, “It ain’t braggin’ if you can do it.”  Jesus did it, and we’re whispering about it, Have a listen.
