If you’re age 65 and over or living with disabilities, it’s important to know the Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan Annual Election Period (AEP) is underway, running from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. Choosing a health plan during this time is a big decision for eligible individuals, as the plan you select by December 7th will likely be your plan for all of 2023.

This process can be especially overwhelming if you’re one of the 18.2 million members of the U.S. Veteran population who are eligible for Medicare and need to consider other benefits to which you’re entitled, such as those issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). If this is the case, you may want to consider Medicare Advantage plans that are designed to complement VA benefits.

Stephanie Muckey, Population Health Strategy Lead, Veteran Channel, Humana and JJ Montanaro, Financial Planner, USAA Military Advocacy, USAA, are available on Wednesday, November 2 to help Medicare eligible individuals navigate the AEP and share key considerations for Veterans who are eligible for Medicare, such as what they should consider as they evaluate plan options and credible resources they can utilize for this important decision.

Did you know that there are 2.2 MM Hispanic adults being treated with a prescription for migraine in the U.S., however Latinos with headaches are 50-percent less likely to receive a migraine diagnosis than non-Hispanic white patients? Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and dancer Ally Brooke Hernandez ~ a native of San Antonio, Texas raised in an intensively passionate and proud Latin community ~ first broke out as a member of the multi-platinum pop group Fifth Harmony and is now sharing her migraine story in an effort to make a difference for her community.

Having gone from being a member of a hugely popular girl group to an award-winning solo artist, book author, actress, and dancer, Ally used to worry that at the slightest hint of oncoming migraine, she would have to cancel her show. With the help of her physician, Ally has found a treatment that can work for her and is excited to spread the message to the Hispanic community and the world that there is hope for people with migraine.

On Tuesday, September 27th, during Hispanic Heritage Month, Ally will chat with your listeners about her Grammy award-winning career first as a member of a hugely popular girl group and now as a solo artist, and will also discuss the following:

The journey that led her to who she is now as an artist and author What she is looking forward to next in her career ~ including upcoming tours, music releases, videos, and more Her personal story about how migraine has affected her day-to-day life and career, what she recommends when it comes to managing migraine through lifestyle choices, and how her treatment works Why she wants to bring awareness of migraine to the Hispanic community and the world at large and empower other people to seek treatment

Rev. Dr. Gordon Postill

Biography

Rev. Dr. Gordon Postill is an author and retired minister who has helped thousands of people.

He was ordained by the United Church of Canada in May 1980 and served congregations in Nova Scotia and Ontario before spending the last 24 years of his ministry providing spiritual care to hospice patients and their families in FL and MA. He retired in 2015 to care for his beloved, now late wife Robin who had become afflicted with early-onset Alzheimer’s.

Postill holds a Bachelor of Arts from Laurentian University, Sudbury, a Master of Divinity from Emmanuel College, Toronto, and a Doctor of Ministry from Boston University.

With his advanced clinical training, he became Board Certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) and served four years as the APC State Representative of Massachusetts. He has extensive expertise in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and end-of-life health care ethics.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he led a CISM team from Naples, Florida to New York City to provide support for NYPD personnel. He also served a decade as the Ethics Committee Chair of the Hospice & Palliative Care Federation of Massachusetts and offered end-of-life ethics workshops throughout MA.

Prior to becoming an ordained minister, Postill’s life felt meaningless and he aimlessly drifted from such jobs as nickel miner and security guard. A college dropout in his 20’s, he battled addictions to alcohol and Valium, frequently took LSD and smoked marijuana, and had two run-ins with the law before an astonishing call to the ministry and the bountiful blessings which quickly followed gave him a desperately-needed second chance and saved his life.

Rev. Dr. Gordon Postill resides in Boston, Massachusetts. Please visit www.gordonpostill.com to learn more.

“Postill reflects on his journey from a life of dissipation to one of spiritual purpose in this debut memoir…as an account of a journey from self-indulgence to religious meaning, it is impressive and inspiring…He relates his remembrance, dotted with black-and-white photos of himself and loved ones, with admirable, confessional candor in a breezily anecdotal style… an engaging personal reflection on a transformed life.”

--Kirkus Reviews

“This book is real, instructive, encouraging, and empowering. One wild life in the thrall and call of God.”

--The Rev. Dr. Malcolm Sinclair
