MATTHEW 16:24 What is a biblical disciple and what is a biblical disciple-maker?

A disciple is one who is radically committed to learning how to follow Jesus in every dimension of life. A disciple-maker is a mature, growing Jesus-follower who is actively working to reproduce Christ-like character in the life of a few people – equipping those people to follow Jesus in every dimension of their life by means of personal investment in their life. MATTHEW 28:16-20 What is the summons that we are called to surrender to? There are 4 words in our focus passage that perfectly summarize the gospel message of Matthew. The 4 words are imperatives, commands … COME, SEE, GO, and TELL. The Resurrection and the Great Commission give us the power to start over – Jesus gives us the power to keep going. He gives us the power to change, to be different. The greatest day in history is really about personal, intimate, internal change in me and in you.

MATTHEW 27:33-54 There is no other day in history that rises to the level of theday the King of Kings was crucified. It has the distinction of being both a day of intense evil and a day of glorious triumph of good over evil. It shows man at the height of his sinfulness. It was infamous because He came unto His own and His own received Him not; the Creator was put to death by His creatures! However, it reigns supreme in the annals of history because sin was defeated, the power of Satan was forever broken, and the black halls of death were invaded by the Prince of Life! May the significance and wonder of that day become increasingly clear to our hearts and minds.

Matthew 28

What was the greatest day? It was a day that changed history. Matthew 28 expounds on this day and presents the last recorded directives of our Lord. They provided the foundation evangelism and are the basis of why we do what we do. Lives depend upon our obedience. What were these directives from the Lord?

MATTHEW 26 There’s a little bit of Peter in all of us! Peter’s life illustrates how a believer may backslide and lose his testimony. Under pressure, Peter caved to his fear and pride. Peter had the right desire, the needed determination, but he had the wrong dependence. Unfortunately, Peter’s dependence was an unhealthy confidence in himself. Peter learned the hard way that we must look to God for strength. So, what about Peter? We see the root of his failure, but what happened after he failed?

At this time of year, we celebrate our national freedom and remember the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. As American citizens, we owe our fellow countrymen who are serving, have served, and those who have fallen on the battlefield for the privilege of freedom. Never forget. Never take that for granted.

Yet an even greater joy, honor, and privilege is the measure of TRUE FREEDOM found only in Jesus Christ. Ultimately, as Christ-followers, our citizenship is in heaven. Listen to learn the implications of this true freedom.

Jesus expects every Christian to observe the Lord’s Supper. It is not optional but rather is a direct command from Jesus. Why is the Lord's supper so significant that Jesus Christ would command believers to observe it? The church is not a sanctuary for saints; it is a hospital for sinners. Are there hypocrites in the church? Of course, there are! A HYPOCRITE is a person who pretends to have beliefs or practices which he or she does not actually possess. If we are honest, we have all been hypocritical at some point. We all get caught up in our reflection. We all want to be seen – to be important – to be valuable – to hide the dissonance between what we do and what we know we should do. But this desire can make it so that our Christianity gets warped. Listen to hear the hope we have in dealing with the hypocrisy in our own lives

In all honesty, have you ever been hypocritical about something? Who hasn't? We all get caught up in our reflection. We all want to be seen – to be important – to be valuable. But that desire to be important can make it so that our Christianity gets warped. And if we are not careful, our faith can be deformed by the very traps that snared the religious and righteous Pharisees of Bible times.

Graduation is a momentous step. The word “GRADUATE” or “GRADUATION” comes from the Latin word “GRAOUS,” which means “STEP.” In addition to graduating from a school or course of study, we encounter such steps throughout life. This message addresses how to go forward into new areas of life by staying strong, staying surrendered, staying in the Scripture, and more.
