This weeks podcast episode brings awareness to the Race Equality Action Plan for Wales. This week's podcast episode features professor Emmanuel Ogbonna from Cardiff University. Professor Emmanuel is the Vice Chair at Race Council Wales and he was recently asked by the Welsh Government to co-chair the Race Equality Action Plan. The plan outlines the roadmap for Wales to become an Anti-Racist Wales country by 2030. Professor Emmanuel shares with me all the key details of the plan, how its was developed, why it was developed and what we hope it will achieve. As mentioned in the episode, we would love to hear from you what you think of the plan. This weeks podcast episode is shorter than normal, as I sit down to talk about the current situations (lockdown, uncertainty and confusion). I ponder upon the importance of looking after yourself during these times and ways in which you can do so to survive and come out stronger!
This week I spoke to Lisa Goodchild, founder of digilearning, a charity that aims to inspire and educate young people. Digilearning provides resources, support and training to young people to ensure they become more digitally competent and help them navigate their aspirations in the digital space. We dive into Lisa's upbringing, how she was able to overcome many barriers and turn her life around.
A special episode that wraps up my thoughts on 2020. I speak about how I feel about the year that passed, some life changing lessons I have learnt and my outlook for 2021.
This week I spoke to Remaya. A 16 year old from Birmingham, that recently set up an organisation in the name of A Product of My Environment (POME). The aim behind POME is to empower young black people in Birmingham and all across the UK. We spoke about the importance of empowering ourselves and then those around us, goal setting and how we should never wait for a specific time to achieve something.
