Key Passage: Ezra 9 & 10
Speaker: Pastor Joey Kalan
This week we jumped ahead to Nehemiah chapter 9 to see how God rebuilds our identity through confession. Confession is an often overlooked and misunderstood spiritual discipline. Key Passages: Ezra 7, Psalm 119:105
Speaker: Pastor Joey Kalan
In the third week of our series God's people are struggling with how to love God and grow spiritually while also loving their neighbor. This is a tension that has been felt by every generation of God's people, including our own. In this sermon we will tackle questions such as: which is more important, loving God or loving my neighbor, how can we be in the world but not of the world, and how can I even begin to love my enemies?
Key Passages: Ezra 4:1-5; Matthew 22:36-40; John 17:14-19
Speaker: Pastor Joey Kalan
In the second week of our study in Ezra we see God's people learning to rebuild their identity as "children of God" through worship. This leads us to asking the questions: Is my identity shaped by who God says I am? And what rhythms and habits of worship am I constructing in my life to remind me of who I really am in God's eyes?
Key Passages: Ezra 3:1-13
Speaker: Pastor Joey Kalan
In our first week in this new series we get a hitchhiker's guide to this unique Old Testament story. Key Passage: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
Speaker: Pastor Joey Kalan

In week four of our Gospel Sexuality series we dig into the story of Jacob in Genesis 29. This lesser known Old Testament story certainly has no heroes but it does clearly show us the consequences of trying to find or identity and purpose in romance and marriage. When we are confronted with our own idolatry Pastor Joey Kalan challenges us to re-orient our lives to focus on Jesus so that we can escape the unfruitful cycle of idolatry.

In week 2 of our Gospel Sexuality series Pastor Joey Kalan walks us through the Theology of the Body. We believe that God handcrafted our bodies with great care and intentionality, but due to sin and brokenness in the world not everything functions how it should. Our bodies experience physical limitations like illness and disease, and mentally we experience body shame because we don't view ourselves how God views us. Thankfully, God promises that we will be made whole and have new bodies one day. In the meantime, the Bible teaches us that, "Our bodies are for the Lord, and the Lord is for our bodies."
Key Passages: 1 Corinthians 6:12-20; Psalm 139:13-14; Genesis 2:7

We believe that God made the world and everything in it and declared that it is good! But because of sin, everything aspect of our lives experiences brokenness, including our sexuality. As humans, we recognize that something isn't quite right and we try to fix our condition, but the voices and resources offering solutions aren't always helpful. Our culture often communicates a false narrative by giving us license to live how we want and religion often distorts our sexuality by teaching legalism. Only the gospel of Jesus has the answers we need to live in a way that glorifies God with our sexuality. Pastor Joey Kalan begins this discussion and challenges us by asking the question: "Are you ready to trust God and the Gospel to shape your understanding of your sexuality?"

There are many religions, philosophies, and perspectives on how to know God or how to get to heaven. However, Jesus makes the bold claim, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Is the Christian claim that Jesus is the only way to God too arrogant or closed-minded? In week two of this series we try to tackle one of the elephants in the room.
Speaker: Pastor Joey Kalan
Key Passages: John 10:1-10

Why should a person consider the existence of God? Is it reasonable or irrational to believe that God exists? Winston Churchill says, "It's not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something." In this series opener we explore the value of faith and seeking purpose in life through belief in God.
