Today’s interview is with Travis Diener, a super-talented basketball player with a fascinating career.

Diener played collegiately at Marquette University and was a member of the Golden Eagles team that reached the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 2003. In the NBA, he has played for the Orlando Magic, the Indiana Pacers, and the Portland Trailblazers.

Diener has played for the Golden Eagles (a team primarily consisting of Marquette alumni) in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), an annual single-elimination winner-take-all tournament.

During the 2020 TBT championship game against Sideline Cancer, Diener made the winning three-pointer that clinched the championship for the Golden Eagles, along with the tournament's $1 million prize.

In this interview, Diener talks about developing the confidence required to not only get to the top of your game, but also being able to maintain. You’ll appreciate his insight as he shares the behind-the-scenes effort required to be the best you can be.

What is the number one characteristic of a great leader?

Hear the answer to that question as I talk with Bob Starkey, one of the top minds in college basketball.

Starkey has had an illustrious career, having been a part of 755 collegiate victories, 23 NCAA Tournaments, 8 trips to the Elite Eight, and 5 straight trips to the Women’s Final Four (2004-08), including serving as Acting Head Coach for LSU’s 2007 Women’s Final Four run.

After spending one year at Texas A & M as the assistant women’s basketball coach, Starkey has returned to Baton Rouge to serve as Associate Head Coach on Coach Kim Mulkey’s staff.

Today I talk with Will Healy, the Head Coach at UNC Charlotte.

What is the difference between being in the lead and being in control?

Today I interview one of the best-known names in football, Mike Lombardi, and we’ll discuss the answer to that question.

Lombardi began his NFL career in 1984 as an area scout under Bill Walsh of the San Francisco 49ers and then continued as a NFL executive with the Cleveland Browns, Philadelphia Eagles, and Oakland Raiders.

Lombardi’s book, Gridiron Genius: A Master Class in Winning Championships and Building Dynasties in the NFL, was published in September 2018, and he hosts his own podcast, "The GM Shuffle."

How can you embrace failure and learn from it instead of becoming discouraged? How do you create instead of duplicate?

Listen in as I speak with Bob Richey, Head Coach of men’s basketball at Furman University in Greenville, SC.  In an ESPN article listing the top forty coaches under forty years old, Bob came in at number five!

In his first season as head coach in 2017-18, Richey guided the Paladins to a school record-tying 23-win season that included a then-school-record of twenty-two regular season victories. Under his leadership, the 2018-19 Paladins reached new heights with a school-record twenty-five wins, including victories over defending national champion and eighth-ranked Villanova and 2018 NCAA Final Four participant Loyola Chicago.
