B.J. worked in numerous fields before trying his hand at law school and becoming a top family law attorney. He's a longtime rock guitarist, served as a police officer in San Jose, and even went to medical school at U.C. Davis before he had to switch courses when he was unable to afford the costs to continue.
For over 30 years, B.J. has served as legal counsel to Silicon Valley families. B.J. is known for his caring service to his clients, and frequently volunteers to serve those in need, including service as Court appointed Minor's Counsel and various community service programs. B.J. is one of just a handful of California attorneys that assists families in recovering or restoring children who have been abducted or wrongfully retained, including international cases. He's published numerous legal articles and has written and helped passed legislation in California. He has served on numerous panels teaching lawyers and paralegals, as well as judge Pro Tem in the Santa Clara County family court, and as a mediator and private judge. Hear about the early days of the farm worker movement from the perspective of a young boy growing up in a seminal family pushing for civil rights for the people who grow and harvest our food. At the tender age of 7, the march from Delano to Sacramento was was when Rudy first began to understand that family past time was something remarkable. Rudy's own activism began early, when he helped advocate for better food in his middle school Cafeteria.
Rudy grew up to become a bus driver as a young adult, working to support his growing family. He later became a Union Shop Stewart, served as a union executive, federal mediator, and even on the management side of the bargaining table, handling contract negotiations for BART. Rudy shares stories not only of the patient mentoring of his famous uncle, but also the electric times he grew up in, when it seemed anything was possible and ordinary people of all stripes were engaged in advocating for a better, more just world.

Elder Kent Perkins shares stories of life growing up in the Valley when is was blanketed with orchards instead of cars and tech buildings. Times when car culture in Willow Glen was a like page from American Grafitti. And Kent graciously shares a few gems of wisdom from a his long life and dedication to his craft and community. Son Josh is carrying on the family tradition and shares stories of his youth learning his craft at his grandfather’s knee, life as a professional musician, and as a father of a young family trying to find balance in our technology age.

"The Duel" takes us back to a time just after repeal of prohibition on the national stage, but when much of the South remained officially dry. Tensions run high between those who cling to the lofty goals of the temperance movement and those wanting to break free. Told through the eyes of a young black girl growing up in a small town in the Southern United States, excitement runs high as the entire town and folks from far and wide gather to witness a legendary showdown between the most famous blues man who ever lived and an equally famous young female guitar thumping gospel and blues singer.
Jason Malcolm Stewart is an author, journalist and media professional who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
