Today's episode is all about Emotional Responsibility and Accountability. We are humans having an emotional experience, and that means we are alive!!

We want to feel the full range of emotions. Just like a heartbeat goes up and down, so will our emotional lives. If the line on the heartbeat monitor goes flat, well, that's not good. We want to live in our full humanity, and that means to feel all the feels! What we don't want is for the negative emotions to take root in our hearts or to stuff them down.

In this episode, I share how we use our bodies to physically process them, and as we do this, we can transform our pain into meaningful purpose!

Don't miss out on the opportunity to uplevel your life and purpose at our next Vibrant Living Health and Healing Retreat in Hawaii October 4-9. Only 3 spots left! Check it out at: www.stacyharmer.com/retreat

In this episode, I share an experience I had to arise earlier in the morning and the gift that God gave me the next morning at sunrise! I share the importance of creating our morning and evening routines. Those routines actually start in the evening to be prepared for the next day.

Our lives are measured by days with the average person living 27,375 days. No matter what happens during the day, if we are intentionally bookending our days, we can stay aligned. That early morning hour is a time of great connection and understanding. Are we willing to be open to all the Lord has and wants to give us?

I love the quote from CS Lewis stating: “It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased."

In this episode, I share about the Miracle Morning - Life S.A.V.E.R.S. by Hal Elrod.

One of the ways we can raise our vibration is to connect with nature! Now is the perfect tie to get outside. Henry David Thoreau was inspired by nature and left the city for the woods - Walden Pond. This is where he wrote the book Waldon. He said that he needed nature to do his best work.

A study in 2019 states that 20 minutes outdoors causes the body's production of cortisol and other stress hormones to decrease.

In this podcast, I share some fun and easy ideas and ways you can make nature a priority!

We live in a world that feels intense a lot of the time. If you are a sensitive person, you likely feel the energy of what is going on. There is a lot of shifting. We can either be flexible and move along with the shifting and evolving or stay stuck in frustration with everything and fight it!

The definition of an empath is someone who feels the emotions, feelings, energy, and even thoughts of others. Empaths are highly sensitive people, who tend to also take on the emotions of others. It's actually a beautiful spiritual gift, but sometimes it doesn't always feel like that. In this episode, we are going to talk about being an Empath, what that means, and what to do about it!!

Self-care and rest isn't just a nice thing to do, it's ESSENTIAL! After feeling pretty exhausted this week after working for months on the Vibrant Living Wellness Conference, I thought it would be worth digging into the importance of REST and SLEEP!   It is definitely a fundamental that affects so many other things in our life. It’s harder to have the energy to move and exercise when you are tired. It’s harder to eat well when you are tired. It’s harder to be positive and happy when you are tired.   In this episode, we'll be talking about the power of sleep and rest and WHY IT IS SO NECESSARY!!

Well - This is the last of Gottman's 7 Principles to Make Marriage Work! It's the icing on the cake - Creating Shared Meaning! If your marriage adheres to the first six principles, there's a good chance that your relationship is stable and happy. But if you find yourself asking, "Is this all there is?", you may be missing a deeper sense of shared meaning. Marriage isn't just about raising kids, splitting chores, and physical intimacy.

It can also have a spiritual dimension that is rich and meaningful and has to do with creating an inner life together. It's creating those rituals and an appreciation for your roles and goals that lead you to what it means to be a part of the family you have created.

Welcome to this last episode of the Gottman Principles. I'll also be reviewing each of the 7 principles, the 4 Horsemen of the Apocolypse, and the Magic 6 Hours for your happy marriage maintenance weekly!!

In this episode, we'll be discussing the 6th Principle - Overcoming Gridlock when trying to resolve conflicts. Most of the conflicts you'll experience in marriage are perpetual (66% in fact according to Gottman)- meaning they may be with you for decades or more, but you can learn ways to overcome the gridlock and open the conversation to working together to compromise and create dialogue to move forward.

Learn the steps to work through gridlock and create meaning and discover each other's hidden dreams!

Every marriage is a union between two separate individuals who bring to it their own opinions, personality quirks, and values. So it's no wonder that even in very happy marriages the husband and wife must cope with a number of issues. Some conflicts are just minor irritants, but others can seem very complex and intense.

Often couples feel stuck in conflict and may distance themselves from each other as a protective device. Dr. Gottman found that all conflicts really fall into one of two categories: Either they can be resolved, or they are perpetual, which means they will be a part of your lives forever, in some form or another. Welcome to the human experience!!

In this podcast, I will be sharing ways to solve your solvable problems!! Don't forget to catch the early bird pricing for our Vibrant Living Wellness Conference on May 14! www.vibrantlivingwellnesconference.com

In this episode, we'll be discussing the 4th Principle - Let Your Partner Influence You! What does it mean to let your spouse influence you? It's when we respect and honor each other's opinions and feelings. It's understanding that for a marriage to thrive, we have to share the driver's seat.

In Dr. Gottman’s long-term study of 130 newlywed couples, he has found that men who allow their wives to influence them have happier marriages and are less likely to divorce than men who resist their wives' influence.

Statistically speaking, when a man is not willing to share power with his partner, there is an 81 percent chance that his marriage will self-destruct. Come learn to share the driver's seat and be influenced by your spouse.

In this episode, we'll be discussing the 3rd Principle - Turning Towards Your Spouse.

When you need attention, support, and comfort from your partner, you are likely to say something or make a gesture to elicit a response from them. This is what the Gottmans call a “bid.” Your spouse turns toward that bid when they reply with what you need. When we turn away or against each other, that spells disaster for any relationship.

In this episode, I share ways to build up your emotional bank account and what Gottman has found through his research as the magic 6 hours - What you can do every week to strengthen your marriage!

Everyone loves to hear something nice about themselves, and it means the most when it comes from your spouse. Sharing fondness and admiration is simply vocalizing the characteristics that you appreciate.

Dr. Gottman says this principle - Fondness and admiration are two of the most crucial elements in a rewarding and long-lasting romance. In this episode, I share action items and exercises you can work on.

As a Gottman-trained workshop leader, I decided over the next 7 episodes to take one principle from his 7 Principles to Make Marriage Work program and share on my podcast.

We will start with the first principle - Building Love Maps. Essentially, Love Maps are how couples can stay curious about one another. It’s asking questions to explore each other’s inner world. As you both ask questions and take notice of the little things, you start to build a mental map of who your partner is—their likes and dislikes, hurts and hopes, and everything that makes them who they are.

It's the foundation of a "Sound Relationship House". By creating and building Love Maps, we deepen friendships.

Come join us for this discussion, and I'll be sharing action items you can work on this week to build your Love Maps!

I just returned home from a getaway with my husband - celebrating 36 years of marriage!! Since strengthening marriage has been on my mind and since I'm a Gottman Trained Leader for their 7 Principles to Make Marriage Work Workshop, I thought I'd focus and share these principles on my weekly show and podcast today and over the next 7 episodes - focusing on one principle each week.

In today's episode, I share about the research behind Gottman's substantiated studies claiming he can predict divorce with 91% accuracy. But his goal was not necessarily to predict divorce. His goals and desires were to help couples find out what actually does work to make successful and happy marriages. He's come up with 7 key principles that are essential to having a happy and successful marriage.

In this episode, we also address the 4 Horseman of the Apocolypse in Marriage: Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness, and Stonewalling. Come learn the antidote and secret weapon to those.

I came upon a post this week that I loved. It read, "If you see a married couple still in love through the years, you may think how lucky they are. But in marital relations, there's no such thing as luck. They made many compromises. They overlooked each other's faults. They forgave many mistakes and endured many problems. They spent years learning to understand one another. Love has never been a matter of luck. It's mutual giving, compromise, shared dreams, care, respect, mercy, and patience."

How can you find more peace? I was first introduced to the work of Byron Katie probably 10 years ago as I was going through my own healing journey. Her work has impacted my own healing and also how I coach others.

Katie saw that when she believed her thoughts
she suffered, and that when she didn’t believe her thoughts she didn’t suffer. What had been causing her depression was not the world around her, but what
she believed about the world around her. In a flash of insight, she saw that our attempt to find happiness was backward.

Instead of hopelessly trying to change the world to match our thoughts about how it “should” be, we can question these thoughts and, by meeting reality as it is, experience unimaginable freedom and joy. As a result, a bedridden, suicidal woman became filled with love for everything life brings.

Come learn the 4 important questions to ask to not only turn around your thoughts but your life!

We value relationships and are in many relationships. Whether we realize it or not, most of us have manuals that we have unconsciously written for other people in our lives on how they should behave and what they should do.

We most often don't realize it! While it's perfectly fine to have certain expectations of others, the problem comes when we start tying our emotional happiness to how they respond to those expectations.

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

Just like a tree in nature, we experience different seasons in our personal lives, and we are greatly affected by them. It's important to have compassion and understanding, and not judgment regarding the current season in our life. Every season has a purpose, and rest assured, no matter what the current season is, it will change again soon!

In this episode, I share about Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, and what the theme, traits, thoughts, emotions, and actions are for each season. Come learn how we can work with these cycles in our lives rather than against them. We are all about change, growth, progression, and we do it through the seasons.

Everyone has those days - when you just don't feel like it!! You may lack the energy, motivation, interest, or desire to carry on. In this episode, I share 7 tips and tools that I've found helpful when you just aren't feeling it!

The reality is, it is quite perfectly normal to feel this way occasionally. It may be stress, overload, or burnout. "Burnout is what happens when you try to avoid being human for too long." - Sam Keen

Self-compassion involves not only being kind to yourself but understanding that being a human is messy. We experience it all - the good, bad, and the ugly!!

A poem I share on the episode that I love by Helen Mallicoat:

I was regretting the past,

and fearing the future…

Suddenly my Lord was speaking;

“My name is I Am.” He paused.

I waited. He continued,

“When you live in the past,

with its mistakes and regrets,

It is hard. I am not there.

My name is not I WAS.”

“When you live in the future,

with its problems and fears,

It is hard. I am not there.

My name is not I WILL BE.”

“When you live in this moment,

it is not hard.

I am here.

My name is I AM.”

On New Year's Day 2022, President Russell M. Nelson made a post on Instagram. Part of his message read: "Resolve to be resolute. The Lord loves effort. The Lord loves consistency. The Lord loves steadfastness. While we surely will come up short from time to time, our persistent efforts to hear Him and follow the inspiration He gives us will help us to wax strong in the Spirit”.

Listen to those words: Resolve, Resolute, Effort, Consistency, and Steadfastness. But how do you keep going to maintain that resolve and resolution with consistency and effort to bring about change? It is the small incremental steps, repeatedly done that make the biggest impact.

There are so many great ideas out there, but it’s one thing to get the information, and it’s quite another to be able to integrate that into your life on a consistent basis to make REAL CHANGE. Enjoy this episode about the tiny habits you can implement on a consistent basis to make changes, increase motivation, willpower, create a new identity, and increase your skill level!

What are spiritual gifts? Are they simply our natural talents and predispositions? I continually teach about our inner GPS, “free space” on our bingo card – the natural gifts and abilities that we are born with. Are these spiritual gifts? Certainly, those are gifts from God as are the many blessings we have or creations in the world.

However, spiritual gifts are actually something activated at a specific point in our life by God Himself. Those spiritual gifts may be the key to help bring all the different pieces of you together.

Join us on this episode as we share and discuss spiritual gifts and intuition.

How To Solve Any Problem. That’s a pretty lofty claim!  I’m talking about you and your brain!

I personally think that all things can be made whole, complete, and right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. But in this podcast, I'll be talking and sharing in the context of what you can do with your own thoughts, thinking, and brain and how you can actually solve any problem for yourself (since we are the only ones we can change).

As a certified Coach with The Life Coach School, I'll be sharing a tool that I've learned and been trained with - The Self Coaching Model - created by Brooke Castillo, who is the owner and founder of the school. This is a claim that Brooke makes after coaching thousands of clients and has never had it not work. I too have found that it is a tool that has not only changed me but also my clients and students that use and implement it on a daily basis.

In this podcast, I demonstrate the Self-Coaching Model.  If you'd like to have your own mini-session with me to try out coaching, you can go to www.stacyharmer.com/contact to send me a message, and we can get that set up!  I think everyone needs a coach, and this is a super powerful process!

“When God wants a great work done in the world or a great wrong righted, he goes about it in a very unusual way. He doesn’t stir up his earthquakes or send forth his thunderbolts. Instead, he has a helpless baby born, perhaps in a simple home and of some obscure mother. And then God puts the idea into the mother’s heart, and she puts it into the baby’s mind. And then God waits. The greatest forces in the world are not the earthquakes and the thunderbolts. The greatest forces in the world are babies.” E. T. Sullivan

A baby is pure and perfect. That is her divine identity. She loves herself, others, and the world. She simply exists with joy and love. It is not until time, experiences, disappointments, shame, and incorrect beliefs creep in that we create a false identity.

In this episode, we will explore both our divine and false identities and how to claim the divinity that is within us. "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free." - Michelangelo

Our mind can be our best friend or our worst enemy, and it is within our power to decide which one it will be. One of the great challenges of this life is to be able to control the mind because it can really have a life of its own if we let it go uncontrolled. Proverbs 23:7 states that "as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (or she)."

If you don’t like where your life is right now, all you
have to do is take a look at where your thoughts are and what you’ve been thinking about. We literally are designing our life every day by our thoughts, so pay close attention and start noticing where your mind is. Our thoughts create our feelings or emotions, which drive our actions, which produce the results in our life.

Let's get intentional and create the life of our dreams. Come learn some powerful tools!

What are you TRULY hungry for?

The foods we eat are meant to nourish our bodies physically, and we call them Secondary Foods. But there is something even more crucial to identify and those are called Primary Foods or Basic Human Needs - such as our relationships, physical activity, finding meaning or purpose, growth, spiritual connectedness, contribution, etc. When those aren't met, we will continually be hungry trying to fill them - and often we do that with food.

To be fulfilled is something that food alone can’t do.

You must nourish:

-Your Body with healthy food

-Your Heart with joy, compassion, and love

-Your Mind with knowledge, creativity, and proper thinking

-Your Spirit with divine connection and self-awareness

So, I pose the question.... what you are TRULY hungry for? In this episode, I share about the 6 basic human needs are and how to fulfill them to satisfy what you TRULY are hungry for!!

Merriam-Webster defines alignment as “an arrangement of groups or forces in relation to one another.” In this episode, I'll be sharing 5 areas of alignment in our personal lives that when aligned can enable us to have greater peace in our lives and create a ripple effect for good in the world.

When we are out of balance or out of alignment, life becomes a struggle. I’ve learned through trial and error that I must keep myself in check because it's easy to lose focus or get off on a tangent and then realize we have drifted far from our original course.

What are the Ripples of Influence? I’ve developed an analogy in my life to keep myself in check as I move down any particular path. I call it Ripples of Influence. To illustrate this principle, imagine tossing a rock into a pond. What happens to the water? It creates ripples, right? I identify that rock as my Source or my God. It is from there that all of the ripples form and move outward. Come learn about the 5 areas of alignment and ripples of influence in our lives

Do you struggle with perfectionism? Do you ever battle with overwhelm or the "all-or-nothing" mentality? Well in this episode we will be focusing on Progress, not Perfection. Perfectionism tends to set us back, and we procrastinate. It limits our ability to move forward and accomplish our goals.

Have you ever gone into overwhelm with so much you wanted to do but you felt paralyzed and didn’t know where to start? This is easy to do. Overwhelm is a disempowering emotion, and it is never useful! The opposite of overwhelm is to constrain yourself, simplify and chunk it down into small, doable, and actionable steps.

In this episode, I'll be sharing the spiritual lesson I learned recently by seeing 6, yes 6 different sea turtles, within a matter of several days on a recent trip. When something repeatedly shows up in my life, I know it's time to listen! The message I took from those sea turtles was to be persistent, consistent, and slow down my pace so I can go through life with ease. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? Slow and steady wins the race!!

In order to have a greater outreach for good and personal peace in our lives, I have found that it is crucial to keep our lives in alignment. When we are out of balance or out of alignment, life becomes a struggle. The question is, how do you know if your life is not in alignment?

First, think of your CAR – When your tires are out of alignment what happens?

-Your vehicle pulls to one side.

-You have uneven or rapid tire wear.

-And your steering wheel is crooked when you are driving straight.

What about when your BACK is out of alignment, what are some of the signs you might experience?

-Lower back, neck, knee, or hip pain.

-Excessive fatigue.

-Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet.

When these things happen, you know something is off or simply not right. But what about your LIFE? What happens when your life is out of alignment? Come join us to discuss 9 clues to let you know if your life is out of alignment and some tips and tools to put into practice to get back on track and into alignment.
