This show is about the new way to bore-book rides!
- More discounts for fall and December were announced, one of which is getting a park hopper for free.
- Mickey's very merry christmas party and jollywood nights are coming back
The new Genie+ rolling out July 24, at Walt Disney World only. Disneyland is only getting a name change.
- Genie+ will not be call Lightning Lane multipass and Individual Lightening lanes will now be called Lightening lane single pass
- If you are staying on property you can make selections for your entire trip up to 14 days starting at 7 am 7 days from check in. There are a few caveats to that, if you are in the US you cannot make any selections until you are in the US. Also It does not roll out until July 24, so with my trip being July 26 I will not be able to book 7 days out, but Leah will be able to. Eligible hotels are Disney hotels, shades of green, and swan and dolphin.
- If you are not staying on property you can book 3 days out and are able to book for the length of the ticket.
- If you do not have a date based ticket and still need reservations you can book up to three days out for each day you are going. Annual Passholders have to have a theme park reservation to use this service or you have to book lightening lanes for after 2pm on days where you can enter after 2. Same 3 days booking applies to APs as non date based tickets. If it is a good to go day, passholders can make any reservations up to 3 days out. Just like with making park reservations your resort stay takes priority and the above 7 days/length of stay is what you would use.
- Both of these things are like it was with fastpass where on property you booked at 60 days out for your whole trip and not on property was 30 days out and you have to do each day. Thit is a huge perk for staying property.
- Booking rides: Right now you can buy genie for one park or multiple parks. Going forward you can only pre book your 3 rides for 1 park. Once you have used your first LL you can book your next one. So you can hold 3 at a time. That next one can be for another park, so they are basically “giving” you the park hopper genie. Again this is pretty much exactly how fastpass worked.
- Lightening lane single pass will also be bookable 7 days in advance.You will be able to see what times are available before you purchase the ride.
- You will now be able to purchase the lightning lane single pass and multipass in one transaction.
- Tiered groups: Just like they were doing with fast pass before it was retired you pick one of the better rides from tier 1 and 2 rides from tier 2.
- AK does not have tiers.
- You will be able to purchase this in the same places you found it before, the home screen of MDE, the tip board, or new lightning lane tile on the menu screen. You will also be able to see all booked experiences there.
- If you try and game the system and book a room to try and get the 7 day advantage and then cancel some of the days or rooms your choices will be canceled within 24 hours. The passes themselves will not be canceled or refunded, just your rides canceled.

1900 Park Fare is coming back. They will have gumbo on the menu now which sounds great. It’s a wishing theme.
Tianas Bayou adventure, Anna thinks it will open in June.
2025 January- to October 2025 bookings opened February 27, 2025, ticket prices went up, but it looks like they are not raising prices for 2024 which is nice.
It comes with checkin day access to a water park, DVC can also take advantage of this perk. It seems to not be linked to a ticket, but rather a stay.

Destination D23. This event is typically held in Disney world on the every other year D23 is held. This is a much smaller event, but can have some big announcements if Disney needs to.
The theme for this year was Celebrating 100 years of Disney. The 100 eyar anniversary of the company is Ocotber

Asha from wish is coming to Epcot
They are sticking to 2024 for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
They answered the questions about the Hat Box ghost, like does the Hat box ghost round the mansion to 1000, but the hat box ghost is part of the 999. He’s not with the other ghosts after madam leotta because he is not a happy haunt and she is calling the happy ones. He will appear in late November. Our guess he will materialize when there are the most annual pass blockouts so anytime between November 17 and 25th.
Country bears are getting a redo as a Nashville musical review and are getting new songs.
Pirates is getting a new tavern, does this mean alcohol in MK outside of sit down restaurant? Not sure I like that. I wonder if it’s going where tortuga is? The bird that used to be outside pirates is going to be the host of it.
Epcot will be finished in December! Moana will open October 16. Moana will also meet and greet in there? The new nighttime spectacular Luminous the Symphony of Us will debut December 5. From the brief description and artwork it looks like harmonious without the barges.
Test Track is getting reimagined. Their sponsorship must be up for renewal. I am glad they are fixing it, it’s a skip for me in EPCOT. It’s fine, but not a must do and it breaks all the time.
MK beyond big thunder is happening, but it’s not fully finished on what they are going to do. They said it will be bigger than galaxies edge.
AK tree of life is getting zootopia tree of life show ,replacing bugs life
This is still blue sky, but it seemed more thought out, detailed, and put together so I do think this will happen. At least the tropical Americas part. Dinoland is getting rethemed to tropical americas around the equator. There will be casita It’s not fully Encanto themed. Encanto will be mixed in the region. Dinosaur will be turned into Indiana Jones which is what Dinosaur is in Disneyland, so that’s a “quick” retheme.
Figment meet and greet started on the 10th.
EPCOT Soarin’ over California returns for the 100th celebration on September 22. Hope this stays until after the dirt pit is finished so they can redo the last scene of EPCOT in soarin’ around the world.

On this show we talk about the new Hollywood Nights we are so excited about and break down Rider Swap.

When would you use rider swap?
If you have a child that is too small to go on a ride, or you have a child that is a little fearful and wants to sit out on a ride.
Rider swap only works on certain rides, basically any with a height or age requirement.
I have a child that doesn't like Mickey and Minnies runaway railway and we would not be able to use rider swap with that since it doesn't have a height or age requirement.
How it works. First you need to set up the rider swap.
Outside of each attraction there is a cast member to facilitate the rider swap. If you are unsure where to go ask the cast members by the entrance to the ride they will help you.
The cast member will ask who is riding second. If you have 3 children and one is not riding you will only be able to pick one of your other children to ride with you. I cannot stand this rule. It used to not be this way, but with Genie+ they changed the rules.
If you have magicbands they will scan the bands of who is riding second and you go wait to the side or go get a snack or shop.
The rest of your party will go to the standby line to wait in the line. If you have genie+ you go through the lightning lane.
**Once the first party has ridden you and the other person you are riding with will go through the lightning lane to ride the attraction.
Before we begin let's see how we did with our guesses for the dining plan.**

- The standard of what they call the DIsney Dining Plan(DDP) is one quick service and one sit down meal and a snack per person per day as well as the alcoholic or non alcoholic drink with each meal.

- In early 2020, the last time we had it Quick service, was $55 for adults and $26 for kids with tax
- DDP $78.01 for adults and $30.51 for kids with tax
To give context a character meal was averaging $58 for lunch and dinner for adults and $35 for kids with tax so $55 and $32 in 2020. Now it’s $60 + tax for adults and $38 for kids tax is 6.5% so $63.9 and $40.47

Alcohol around $9-$14 depending on the type of drink.

Tron - Starting, March 20, Tron is having a soft opening until April 2, and then it opens April 4.. You can get a virtual queue at 7am and 1pm and buy an ILL. I have been hearing you must be on time for your virtual queue which has not been the case previously. I wonder if they will continue that after it officially opens? Because at night it is really cool and when most people will probably want to ride.
It is such a cool area. It’s just electric in there and the lights and bikes are going by. You didn't realize Tomorrowland needed this ride until it’s here.
There is a place to try out the bikes while you are in line. This should be closer to the entrance because where it is just makes for a lot of confusion and wasted time. We really needed to see if Ben would fit, he’s 6’6” and 280 lbs. He did fit! While I did see quite a few people with larger thighs not get it to close I do think most will be able to fit. Ben said if he had been 1” taller he would not have fit due to the length of his leg.
**So the queue is really cool and dark and blue. The lockers are pretty easy to deal with, I would say walk towards the lockers in the back, most people stop at the first ones. We kept our phones out and took a picture of our locker number. They are double sided like velocicoaster and easily fit my loungefly. We could have probably put my loungefly, Ben's fancy pack, and Mollie's small bag in 1 locker.
Tip of the week: Don't believe the posted wait times at the end of the night. Slinky Dog was posted 60 minutes at 9pm (park closed at 9:30pm) and we only waited 10 minutes.**

On this show we talk all about Genie+ and our honest thoughts about our love/hate relationship with it.
Genie
So let’s go over the definitions:
Genie - The free service in your my disney experience app that is worthless
Genie +- The purchased line skipping tool in my disney experience. Think of it as fastpass that you are paying for. Now called lightening lanes.
Individual Lightening Lane or ILL - In each park there is one ride you cannot book using genie+ it has to be purchased separately. Thus Individual lightening lane. You can purchase 2 of these a day.
Lightning Lane - The name of the ride booked and is the entrance for genie+ and ILLs. Again think of the old fastpass entrance.
Virtual queue - A lottery system used to get on a new ride that is not offering standby.
Modifying - Where you make a genie+ reservation and can change the time or ride in the same park if there is availability.
Stacking - The process where you are putting genie+ rides at the end of the day so you can do multiple rides within a short period of time. Thus allowing you to “sleep in” or have a pool day or not have to be in the park riding all day.
*For the purpose of this show we are pretending the Genie part of my disney experience doesn’t exist and when we refer to Genie we mean the paid genie+.
How do I find where to buy or make my selections? Genie+ will sell out at busy times so you need to purchase it before 7am. You find it to purchase on the home screen of the my disney experience app. The tip board where you book the lightning lanes, and to get to that you click the 3 lines at the bottom right of the app.
At 7am you can make your first genie+ selection, ILL, or virtual queue if you have a park pass for a park that is offering a ride with a virtual queue.
Your genie+ selection you will not be able to see return times until you get the selection.
ILLs you can pick the time you want to return. If you are trying to get an early morning return time just know it may give you a later time. I always recommend trying for a later morning or late in the day ILL.
Always try for the virtual queue at 7am first before doing anything else.
So at 7am your booking order is

Genie+
You can make your next genie+ selection either after you use your first one or 2 hours after park open whichever is first. Now park open is actual park open, not early entry.
Example: 7am you book Jungle cruise and get a return time for 10am. The park opens at 9am. You go to jungle cruise at 10 and once you tap into the ride you can book your next genie+.
Example2 - 7am you book Jungle cruise and get a return time for 12pm.. The park opens at 9am. At 11am you can book your next genie+ even though you have not used your first selection yet.
One good change is the app will tell you when you are allowed to make your next selection if you are using the 2 hour rule. So if you are confused just check the app.

- trying not to be outdone universal announced a new children’s theme park in Texas and a year round Halloween Horror nights in Las Vegas at Area 15.
The park in Texas will be 97 acres which is 10 acres smaller than Magic Kingdom and include a hotel, parking lot, and room for expansion so it’s really not that big. Maybe the size of fantasyland which is 21 acres. A 1-2 day destination that they put it in Texas kinda near Dallas in the north in Frisco.

- General budget, Disney is expensive, so what is your vacation budget that you are willing to spend?
- How many days do you want to go?
- Is a better room or more park days more important?
- Do you need a down day?
- Do you want to be able to visit more than one park a day? If you are going August through late December having a park hopper is a must.
- What are your non-negotiables?

What is DVC
- Disneys definition, a real estate interest that's represented by Vacation Points.
DVC is the timeshare for Disney. It is a points based system so an owner has a certain number of points and they can book rooms based on the nightly point value for that room at different points in the year. Weekends are more than Sunday-Thursday nights and different times of the year are more or less points. September is the least and Christmas week is the most. Just know you can book however many nights you want, but for simplicity we are using a week.
- An example is a poly standard studio saturday-saturday in september is 104 points, a studio at OKW is 71, The difference is location and how many it sleeps. Same rooms Christmas week this year December 24-31, Poly is 244 and OKW studio 162.
Then there are 1,2, and 3 bedroom units. 1 bedroom and up have full kitchens and washer and dryers.
Let’s look at times most people travel, summer…June 10-17, 1 bedroom at AKL savannah view is 241, OKW is 188. Both rooms sleep 5. As you can see points vary greatly by date, size, and location.
- Booking process is 11 months out for home resort, 7 for non home. If you want to see how many points a room you want to stay in is for that time period dvchelp has a great point calculator as well as information on all the resorts such as room size, layout, amenities, etc.

- Renting through facebook
- Make sure to get a contract. It doesn’t have any weight, but it at least creates an agreement that makes it more of a protected transaction.
- Check references of people. Make sure they have a facebook page with friends and it’s not fake. Ask around in the groups. You can tell who the constant renters are and who is maybe a little sketchy.

China - mongolian beef bao bun - not great. Taylor got everything and liked the other stuff, bubble tea, everyone liked that got it
Brew wing - emory loved the traditional wings as did I. such a great place for picky eaters who like wings and want to participate
