I'm a sucker for reality competition shows: Big Brother, Amazing Race, Survivor - give me all of them. However, perhaps none of them have captivated me like MTV's The Challenge has. I've watched it from the very beginning and it has evolved into something incredible. Bill Simmons used to do a weekly column on the show and even started a Challenge Fantasy League. It's one of my favorite shows and this episode explains why.

I put so much pressure on myself to perform and to know everything and I was eaten up by so much anxiety that I can't imagine what customers must have been thinking when I walked in. The concept is not mine, but it has been a lesson throughout my career that I still am working on. Speaking in a manner and using language that my customers not only understand, but value. It would make zero sense to walk into a French Embassy and start speaking to them in Klingon. It's just as useless to talk to a Senior Systems Engineer about ROI and the impact it will have on their P&L. Finding the language that is most easily heard and understood by our customers is such an important thing that is easy to overlook.
