The guest for this episode is Parker Wissman, a student at the University of South Florida studying criminology. We discuss hypocrisy within media and politics, misconceptions about conservative ideals, as well as the conversation around police reform.
We discuss the records of President Biden and some other members of the new administration, some of the actions already taken by the administration, as well what we can look forward to or be wary of from the next four years.
In the wake of various reports and media coverage of abuses by the United States Intelligence Agencies in the 1960s and 70s, the Senate created a committee, commonly referred to as the Church Committee, to investigate these abuses. They discovered various forms of abuse by the agencies being investigated that included the illegal surveillance of American citizens, unapproved clandestine operations, and attempts to undermine various political movements in the United States which included anti-Vietnam War groups, various groups defined as "the new left", and civil rights groups, most notably that of Rev. MLK Jr.
We discuss the major findings of the report as well as its implications for today.
In this episode, we separate the industry of "Politics" from the idea of politics as a means of educating the populous to enact change. We discuss how the Legacy media and political establishment have corrupted the conversation around politics, the philosophical framework of politics and democratic institutions, the forgotten history of grassroots political movements in the United States, and the necessity of actively participating in the political process.
We discuss the results of the US 2020 elections as they currently stand, what they mean for the future of politics, and the context of the current political climate.
