My grandparents were married for sixty-two years. My grandmother served the Lord her whole life. My grandfather was a good man, but had his own opinions about church and faith, and often these were things he preferred not to discuss. In April of 2017, the doctors told us that Grandpa had angiosarcoma, an aggressive and rare form of cancer. They said that it was going to be aggressive, and that there weren’t really any treatments for it. The timeframe that they gave us was their best guess of six months. My anxiety kicked into overdrive. Six months? How, after 32 years...

For the last 5 years my mother’s severe headaches would land her in the hospital so frequently the doctors knew her by name. They would find her blood pressure abnormally high but could not find the core reason why this kept occurring so frequently. They would give her an I.V., monitor her pressure and then send her home after several hours. This cycle continued about every 3 months until October, 2014 when during one of our “routine” visits to the hospital, a physician decided to run some different tests than usual. Thinking nothing of it, we waited for the results...

On March 23, 2017, I woke up with an awful headache. I walked around wondering why my head was hurting so bad. It was nothing like I had ever felt before and I just knew something wasn’t right. I called my daughter and husband and then I called 911. I was really freaking out. The paramedics took me to Southside Hospital, then I was transported by helicopter to MCV. I don’t remember hardly anything during the next 3 weeks in ICU or the few days after in the main hospital. I had a ruptured brain aneurysm, the artery in my...

As Pastor Dennis preached his sermon series on money, I couldn’t help but be reminded and thank God for His many provisions after I laid down my financial worries and struggles. This past year has brought an amazing bounty of change into my life after being in such a dark, dark place for a very long time. Among the many changes, God truly laid it on my heart to leave the job as it was an extremely toxic environment for me to be in, especially if I wanted to continue to grow as a Christian. It certainly was not easy...

Ever since I can remember, I have always felt like something in my life was missing. I blamed it on multiple things including the fact that I didn’t have a present father or the fact that I was severely depressed or the fact that I felt like I would live my whole life in the depth of my eating disorder. It’s crazy to look back and realize that the one thing I was missing was by my side the whole time. I was diagnosed with anorexia, depression, and anxiety when I was 14 years old. I was a skeleton of...

As a leader from youth camp, coming home and returning to work was very difficult. My company moved locations while I was away and the rest of the staff was attending a tradeshow. I had to manage the organization of the office space and warehouse, answer phones, process orders and payments, manage the warehouse staff, solve technology issues, and handle my personal job responsibilities. It was very difficult and took me to a place of really questioning where I was working. After a week of the chaos, the other staff returned and things in the office settled. However, I still...

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017 our daughter, Naomi, had to have surgery for sinus issues. While we were waiting for her surgery to finish, we talked about going ahead and making our xRVA offering donation to the church.  Seven minutes after we sent the offering, we received a call from Naomi’s orthodontist. Her account was completely paid off! Apparently we had an overpayment on our account from our insurance. This was God’s way of assuring us that He has His children in His care and we are to continuing to trust in Him.

March Madness was not just about college basketball this year. It was occurring in my body as well. In January, Herman and I had taken a trip to Hawaii to celebrate the anniversary of when we met 30 years ago. I was excited about the trip. During the trip we visited many places that required a lot of walking. After going to see a waterfall, it was time to make the trek back uphill. I lost my breath and was hardly able to make it back. It literally took the wind out of me. I know that I am not...

As we make our journey to move to Belgium to go into full time ministry, we have several mile markers that move us to the next step in this journey. Our most recent one was for David to turn in his resignation at work. We decided he was going to “retire” instead of quit so his departure would be perceived in a more positive light. Before Dave could retire, we had a couple of financial pieces that had to fall into place. Dave had a General Managers meeting and one of the main topics was to be about who was...

When people ask me what the best part about our church is, I always answer, “The people!” The people of Christian Life that God has brought into our lives are my God Story. As longtime members of Christian Life, we’ve had the opportunity to have relationships with many different people. People who have become our family. People who have walked with us through the highs and lows life has to offer. People who have encouraged us in our Christian walks, discipled us, ministered to us, and even loved us and offered us grace when we weren’t at our best. Without...

I moved to Chester and bought a home so that I could be closer to four of my grandchildren. I felt that they did not know God as I did … but I wanted to see that change. To make the story short , I brought my son and two of his children to the Christian Life Christmas service in December. When the pastor gave the invitation, my five-year old grandson, Alonso, raised his hand. His dad asked him what was he doing, and he said, “ I want to have Jesus in my heart.” Since then, he is very...

The chapters of my life all have defining moments, spiritual mile markers, valleys of varying depths, and a number of saints to encourage, support and uplift me. It’s a blessed life. As I embark on the final quarter of my life, I look forward to what will be the most fulfilling and rewarding of all my time. I would like to share this God Story of the miracle of praying consistently. I offered to trade prayers with Steve, a fellow member of the prayer team at Christian Life, while he was out of work. I gave my life to the Lord when I was 43 years old. I was dyslexic, and I’d never read a book cover to cover. Somehow I managed to make it through high school, vocational school, and serve in the Navy with this struggle. The Lord directed me to a church the day I gave my life to Him. Soon after my family and I started attending, there was a change in leadership. Within a year or two of the new pastor’s arrival, the pastor challenged the congregation to “read the Bible in a year”, as typically happens at the...

It was the phone call no parent ever wants to receive. We had no idea that the next four days would reveal God like never before. We woke up early that morning to pray over our children who were going to youth camp. We declared Psalm 91 over them, that no weapon formed against them would prosper, that they would be surrounded in God’s favor like a shield, and the angels would stand guard around them. We continued the day just like any other day. The kids were on their way to camp, we were doing some cleaning up around...

Back in January of this year, I knew God was dramatically drawing my attention to tithing and finances. I developed a tendency to cling to every dollar I made, but as a single mother, I felt that no matter what I did, we were always broke. After several months of tithing, I began to grow frustrated when I did not see what I thought would be God’s provision. I was giving without knowing why. In my mind, God was asking for grocery money. I stopped tithing. After two paychecks of not tithing, nowhere closer to any financial peace even with...

You have cancer … Who says that to a young 24 year old woman who just buried her sister 30 days before? Surely this isn’t real. The doctor squeezed my hand and waited for me to catch my breath. The look of fear settled on my face as unspoken questions raced through my mind. My favorite doctor stepped into my silence and immediately started answering questions that I didn’t trust my words to utter. “We caught it in time. After we had our baby girl, Erin, we always talked about trying again for another baby when she turned 3. We found out our news right before my husband, Solomon, had to start leaving during the week to work out of town for two months. I grew up looking for love, attention, and acceptance. My dad left us when I was 8 years old. He had a drinking problem that led to my parent’s separation. It was hit-and-miss getting any time with him from that point on, and my mom had her hands full with me and my six sisters.  Yes, I was the only boy. Today was my last day in full time kids’ ministry. I wanted to share something that God spoke to me today after I got home. For many years I have been challenged with varying health issues. While seeking God for a physical healing from fibromyalgia symptoms, I requested a Sozo ministry session at the church. I was surprised that God had another healing in mind altogether! During the ministry session, God dealt with and healed a distorted view I had of Him as my Father. Pastor Eric Wann’s message in the Busy series, “The Clock or the Compass,” really hit home. I found myself saying “Ouch!” throughout the whole service as he described my life. Working three jobs and still finding time to waste on TV and Candy Crush, I’m a prime example of someone who needs to shift my focus from spending time to investing time. I was born into a Catholic family. I went through all of the normal Catholic traditions: baptism, confession, first communion, confirmation… I was even went to Catholic school and got married in the Catholic church. But I never really felt a part of anything. I went to church, received communion, listened to the message, and went home. It was cold, traditional, unfriendly… not what I was needing at that time. So, naturally, I stopped going. When my daughter was born, Will and I talked about going back to church. I wanted her to know God… but the Catholic church wasn’t...

Having only been at Christian Life a couple of years, I have enjoyed watching all of the people that have been impacted by the ministry of the church. A common phrase that Dave uses in his program and his radio show is, “Live like no one else now, so you can live like no one else later.” We had that opportunity this past week. I had applied to several jobs since last summer, but none of the doors had opened. I was tempted to get discouraged, but there were several verses that encouraged me to press on. Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” The other passage is found in Luke chapter 18 verses 1-8. In these verses, a widow kept...

I had to have a medical procedure Wednesday.  We knew there was a good possibility that there was something not right with me.  We prayed, and gave it to God, but I was still scared. The anesthesiologist came in to talk to me, and I found out that she had served a fellowship at a pain clinic during her training. I was excited, because there was no need to explain my chronic pain situation; she already knew what it was!!  The nurse that came in to start my IV just moved from NC.  She worked at Duke Hospital with the...

I recently was hired at the Comfort Inn in Chester and this is a huge blessing in my life for a lot of reasons. First off, I’m 20 years old and I’ve never had a good job. So far, all my jobs have been part time with a lack of hours and minimum wage. My family and I just moved into a new house and I planned to pay for the utilities but my most recent job ended up not working out because of lack of hours and the distance that I had to drive. On top of that I’m...

I’ve worked in the school system for 4 years in a very stressful position. I prayed and believed that God was bigger than my circumstance and stayed and tried to be a blessing where I could and to whomever that I could. For the most part I very much like working in the public school system. I would walk to my car on stressful days repeating, God you are bigger. I would like to say that I was always walking in faith, but I was not. Over the past 5 years with the stresses of leaving a painful church situation,...

I wanted to share a recent God Story in my life. I’ve been listening to the messages from the past few weeks at church and I kept hearing about how God was making provisions for those who were willing to sacrifice something for His glory. I heard about Becca giving up soccer and so forth and I began to think, is my job, which causes me to miss 7/8 Church Services and every major holiday including Christmas really worth it? I admittedly got scared because the job pays well and I didn’t want my family to suffer for my decision,...

I would like to share how God recently did a miracle for me. One Sunday, on my way home from church, I had a very sharp pain on my right side. I told my husband that I just needed to lay down but the pain kept getting worse. By the time we got home, I couldn’t stand straight. I tried walking into the house, but the pain was so bad that I just humped over on the ground. Robb rushed me to the ER. To give you an idea of the pain, I don’t remember much about the ride to...

God has really been using Christian Life Church to make a difference in our lives. We are an Army family so we have had to move around a lot and before Christian Life it was just us 4. Since first coming in February God has challenged us as a family to learn and grow more in Him. My husband and I both responded to the message on Easter Sunday and asked God to come into our lives in a new way. Within a few weeks both of our teenage boys accepted Christ into their lives as well. This has truly...

Our God Story started over 3 ½ years ago with the loss of employment. The journey through unemployment to self-employment has not been easy to say the least, but the lessons learned along the way have been life changing and faith building. One day while washing the dishes the Lord spoke clearly to my heart and asked, “How can you believe me for the big things if you can’t believe me for the dish soap?” I knew this was not so much of a question as a gentle rebuke of my lack of faith. We began to trust God in...

During my recent trip to Germany with the mission’s team, I wasn’t exactly sure what God had for me, or what He would speak to me. It wasn’t until the night of the women’s conference that I felt like God began to work something out in me. I remember praying a specific prayer that night, asking God to help my husband and I to walk in more unity. Well I didn’t have to wait very long to find an answer to that prayer. The night we returned to Richmond, my husband was waiting at the airport for me and greeted...

Recently I ran into a bit of car trouble when my car did not pass inspection and I did not have the money for the repairs it needed in order to pass. My rejection sticker would allow me to drive for about 15 days, so I began to pray and really trust the Lord that it would all work out. I really felt like the Lord said He not only would provide the finances to fix the car, but that He wanted to give me a new car all together. I began to look into a few cars but never...

17 months ago I adopted a 15 year old from a local foster home making me a first time mom to a teenager. Jenny was diagnosed with RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder); which is generally defined as “a failure to form normal attachments to primary caregivers due to neglect, abuse, abrupt separation from caregivers. However, with prayer, love, patience and concerted effort, RAD can be repaired. Parenting a child with RAD can be exhausting, frustrating, and emotionally trying. After the adoption was final, she had so many layers of anger and rage that negative behavior was exhibited constantly. She did everything...

Doctors have diagnosed me with RAD, ADHD, Bi-polar, Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, and Oppositional Defiance Disorder. With RAD, I have a hard time making friends; I’m either non-social or too clingy. My biological mom was an alcoholic. I was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Pierre Robins Syndrome (which affects my speech) and a cleft pallet (hole in the top of my mouth). From ages 2 to 5 years old, I was neglected and sexually and physically abused by my biological family. I was taken away from my biological family and was adopted when I was 5 years old. At the age...

I miss our church services and always remember the classes we had at Christian Life. Sometimes we go online and listen to the services on Sunday and remember the days we spent with you all. One day, while in a service at Christian Life, someone prayed for me and said that he could see a baby, but there was something in between us … and so he prayed. Well, we want to give you some good news! By God’s grace, and all of your prayers, Amit and I are expecting a baby! I wanted to thank every one at the...

We believe that our story has happened the way it has because we honor God with our tithes and offerings, no matter how much or little we made. The summer of my Senior year at VCU, Jen was frustrated with work and really wanted to quit–at that time I was only working part time and taking 12 credit hours. How were we going to make what little ends meet if we both weren’t working? Eventually savings would run out. So we sowed and prayed for increase. That Thanksgiving, Jen just couldn’t take it anymore and she left the job working...

God has brought me through an IED blast in Iraq, cured me from testicular cancer and gave me a job the day the twins were born. So, why did I doubt that when I raised my hand in church a few Sundays ago for a God Story at my work, that it wouldn’t happen?! Like Mark 9:24, I believe, but needed God to help my unbelief. I raised my hand in church, received a blue God Story shirt and thought “well, this is nice, but this is as probably as good as it is going to get.” I have been...

About a month ago I hurt my back picking up my little one. Having a hurt back certainly made life difficult. I asked for prayer several times in several different settings and each time felt better but was not completely healed. I finally decided to go see a chiropractor. The night before my first visit I asked for prayer again at a meeting and felt completely better instantly. I must admit I was a little surprised when I woke up the next morning that I was still pain free. I still kept my appointment that morning only to have him...

I began looking for work last summer. I felt confident that I could find work easily. I’ve never had trouble finding a job, and even though I had been out of work for the last few years staying home with our daughters, I believed I could jump back in where I had left off. I was surprised by how much more difficult it was this time around. My confidence waned, and despite applying to hundreds of jobs I received only a handful of interviews. All of them went well and I was even offered one, but it turned out to...

It had been almost 4 years at my last job when I decided it was time for a change. I was bored with my job and didn’t feel like I was growing much anymore. I began to search for jobs last June-July with an application here and there but didn’t hear a whole lot back from anyone. Marina and I come from the Catholic Church where tithing isn’t really talked about too much. We decided it was time to up our contribution to the church. On that exact day, that we upped our weekly contribution via the website I received...

Since my family and I have been coming to Christian Life we have felt better and have gotten a deeper fellowship with our father and Lord Jesus Christ. My children have not been this excited about a church and how they feel in a long time. It has also been a revival in my marriage. And doors have been opening up with our walk with the Lord! Thank you to all of the congregation at Christian Life!

Praise God! Going through the FPU Life Group at church has taught us the principles of living like no one else so later we can live like no one else. The past couple weeks have been exhausting dealing with unemployment in the Rosbicki house, but God always has something planned. When you have faith in him he never fails you! Thank you for praying last night for a job for Matt. This morning even though he was at the very back of the list for the union (near 200) God blessed us with a phone call this morning with a...

God has worked a wonderful miracle in our lives and given us a very special gift in His timing! Clyde and I have were married in April 2003 (a God ordained story in itself!), and although we were both a little older when we got married, we decided to wait a little while to establish the foundation of our marriage before trying to have children. When we began to seriously try in 2005, we discovered after a year that, like many couples, we were unable to conceive. We decided to seek medical help. For the next 3 or so years...

Frank and I went to P.F. Chang’s after his urology appointment. We told our waitress we were celebrating the fact that Frank’s recent test came back and that he didn’t have cancer. The waitress seemed so excited for us. We were kind of pinching pennies already but you know I had to get my way. I love P.F. Chang’s! At the end of our meal a young man walked over to us and asked us how we were doing and sat down in our booth. He presented Frank with a statue of a warrior signed by everyone there. He congratulated...

In October I started having severe ear aches on a regular basis. I would wake up crying in agony to the point that I was keeping Will, my husband, up at night. Neither of us slept through the night for over three months. When I laid down it would make it so much worse so I would sit up and rest as best as I could. My doctor put me on antibiotics for ear infections but they never got better. I went to an ENT specialist and he said there was nothing wrong that he could see so my next...

A few weeks ago I was experiencing a lot of problems with swelling and pain in my right foot. Three years ago I developed a blood clot in my right calf from a knee surgery complication, but had not had any issues or pain since the treatments three years ago. Out of the blue, this pain in my foot started and at times made it difficult to even walk. In recent weeks it has been especially painful to wear shoes. On a Sunday morning before we arrived at church, I decided if the problems continued that I would just go...

I have had a problem with migraines. Sometimes they will go away after 8 hours or more but often they last a full 24 hours. Normally, I would have to go in a dark room, take medication, and lay still in the dark. Wednesday night around 9:00pm, David Clark prayed over me. He laid hands on me and anointed me with oil. He specifically prayed against neck pain and tenseness, even though I had not told him about those symptoms, or that those were the first signs of a migraine coming on. By the time I went to sleep that...

Two years ago I stepped back into church for the very first time after a long time away from God. I am a man who had served God for many years, been to Bible School, led small groups, preached, prayed, prophesied, and ministered in many ways. However, due to some struggles in life, I fell apart and I found myself out of church, away from God, losing my family, my ministry, and my life. It was Easter Sunday two years ago when I walked back through the doors of the church. I had many wounds, suspicions, and struggles when I...

I had abnormal Labwork reported following a routine physical. My PSA had tripled in 3 months and abnormal tumor markers were present. I also had a grossly abnormal physical exam in mid December with a doctor’s recommendation for 12 needle biopsies to be done. We prayed and trusted God that He would heal whatever the doctor was seeing. I finally received the results today … and all 12 results were negative! The doctor is unable to explain the results of the exam or Labwork! Praise God!

Steven and I were doing the study, Prayers that Heal the Heart by Dr. Mark Virkler. I made some decrees when I was a young girl, but told Steven I didn’t need to go over all this stuff from my past. However, we did anyway. I knew that the decree I made as a little girl was not sinful, but I was tied to it in my heart. I said it and it became a part of me. I never forgot what I said to God. Later, I had to ask God to break the decrees I made over myself....
