I'm vegan because I love animals. But how does this fit with my strong opinions on energy politics, immigration, fossile fuels and other controversive issues?
I fully support people that improve their lifestyle and attempt to apply sustainable action. However, I'm seeing many privileged Western kids demand and dream of imposing collective scenarios in which it is them to determine who is able to own a car whilst flying to other continents and preaching goodwill that I deem as socialism in disguise.
People love animals. People love eating animals. To enable the odds to have this bizarre combination ethically aligned and to have people purchase animal parts and secretions, companies invented the genius term of "humane slaughtering". This soothing method suggests that farmers sing animals to their death which of course is a beautiful fairytale to sell your kids. But it is adults who buy it [the dead animals].
The difference between calling yourself an animal lover and actually loving animals is as thin as a butcher knife. Do you love animals or do you just love the idea of loving animals? Tune in to find out whether you should claim the title "animal lover" for yourself.
