Goals & Objectives
The program is a live, two-way interactive program focused on shark conservation and outreach programming at MOTE MARINE LABORATORY. Participants will learn the role of sharks in the ecosystem, how they play an important role in the management of ocean species populations and why Mote Marine Laboratory studies these animals. Participants will discuss shark conservation and outreach at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium with our Ocean Experts. Participants will discover why sharks are important to ocean health and what humans can do to help conserve and protect sharks. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions with our Ocean Experts, Dr. Heather Marshall and Elaina Todd.
Gills Mission Statement: The Gills Club is Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's signature action project dedicated to connecting girls with female scientists, sharing knowledge, and empowering them to take leadership positions and inspire shark and ocean conservation.
Mote is partnering with Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, which created the Gills Club — to bring science to more girls in our community. The Gills Club is geared toward girls ages 6-17, and families are also welcome. The Gills Club is free for participants. Participation does NOT cover visiting Mote Aquarium. RSVP is required for all meetings of the Gills Club.
