Joel calls the people to recognize a locust plague as a sign from God that they should repent, and then goes on to envision a final judgment when God will punish evil nations and vindicate Israel. The book highlights two major events: the invasion of locusts, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The initial fulfillment of this is quoted by Peter in Acts 2 after Pentecost.

A conversation on Worship between Worship Leader Levi Bloom and Pastor Jared on how worship can be a rhythm in our daily life.
Jesus summons the host of heaven. His power appoints the angelic creatures to fulfill his will, and from his throne will come perfect justice. He is the King of kings because all earthly rulers pale in comparison to his supremacy.
In this week's episode, Pastor Jared and our worship director Levi Bloom discuss what it means for worship to be a rhythm of our life and what we can learn about worship from our current sermon series on Hebrews. Thanks for joining us!
Jesus is worthy of our worship. Not even the angelic realm compares to him, so is there anything on earth that should rival our affection for him? Holy is he!
In this week's podcast Pastor Jared goes a little more in-depth into this last weekend's Message and Study of the book of Hebrews.
There is simply no one like him. Jesus has no rival, and he is without an equal – he is incomparable. Even the most angelic creatures kneel in submission to his matchless power and worth.
The City of God, the New Jerusalem, is unlike anything we have seen on earth. Despite its brilliance and majestic descriptions, the most beautiful and stunning reality is that “the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.” Heaven is the city of God, for that is where God will be.
Words always fall short when describing something fantastic - whether that is something in the form of perfection or even horror. John describes events that continue the global judgment upon earth. With the opening of the fifth and sixth trumpets, both demonic and human power will orchestrate further calamity.
Inside the eye of a hurricane can be both beautiful and terrifying all at the same time. As the seventh seal was broken, a holy pause filled the space of heaven. Something beautiful and terrifying was soon to erupt upon the whole of earth.
Even in the midst of turbulent and terrible judgment, the great Tribulation will still show the kindness and mercy of God. The Holy Spirit will continue to convict people of sin, and the promises of God will continue to count many saved - even in the closing hours prior to his second coming.
The purposes of God are not only beautiful and fulfilling, but they can also be challenging and mysterious. With the seals from the scroll being opened, the “wrath of the Lamb” is now poured out revealing God’s plans to bring everything to its rightful conclusion.
We try so hard to cover up our sins and imperfections. We even begin to convince ourselves that we’re generally good, or not that bad. With a roar from the Lamb, the whole world will shake and tremble under the righteous judgement that is promised to come.
There is no greater feeling than being rescued from an impossible, or terrifying, situation. To be helpless is to be hopeless. Jesus is once again presented to us as our only hope. Nothing in all of heaven and earth could ever accomplish was Jesus alone did for us.
The view of heaven is not only majestic and glorious, but it reminds us of the awesome power of God. The Lamb who is worshipped deserves the respect of a Lion. We are given a great perspective to face life knowing that the roaring Lamb is in charge of all that is and is to come.
We tend to think of the new year in terms of doing more or being more. We certainly hope it will be “more better” than 2020. The question is “What does it mean to be/do/have more?”….”How do we actually get more, become more, have more, do more?” Simply put: We are more when Jesus is more! We become more when we elevate Jesus more.
John the Baptist had every opportunity to take advantage of his growing popularity and followers, but he most lived out his calling by shining the light on Jesus. The challenges of 2020 have caused many, including Christians, to turn inward, to focus on self, to elevate self. A great perspective in which to enter 2021 is with John the Baptist’s words “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
Like a funnel, the offices of prophet, priest, and king merge and culminate in the person of Christ. Moses was the great prophet; Christ is the Lord of the prophets. Priests like Aaron offered up sacrifices on behalf of Israel each year; Christ the great high priest offered up himself once and for all. Kings of old had limited dominion and limited dynasties; Christ's dominion is over all things and extends forever. We have the true Prophet, Priest, and King who is for us, acts on our behalf, and is over us.
In this episode pastor Jared explores what it means to be prophet by God's standard. This week's question revolves what makes a prophet a prophet.
The role of the priest was to offer sacrifices to God on behalf of the people. Jesus is greater than the priests of old, because his sacrifice did not require perpetual repetition. The reason why the blood of Christ is sufficient and exceeds the foreshadowed blood of bulls and goats is that Christ's blood has immeasurable redeeming value. The high priest was only a shadow of a greater, more profound Mediator. Jesus is both the complete sacrifice, and the sufficient mediator, of his people.
Today Steve Young dissects what causes "Mission Drift" and what the remedy is. As always thank you so much for listening and giving space for the Lord to possibly teach and encourage you!
This week on our weekly devotional Pastor Jared explores the process of identifying a false prophet.
While we often think of the role of prophet as foretelling (predicting the future), it also represents forthtelling; meaning, it explains a message of importance for the contemporary audience. The prophet would communicate matters of great importance to the people – specifically in regards to how they could live in a right relationship with God. The prophet was only a shadow of a greater, more profound Messenger. Jesus is the Word of God, and as such, he is the anticipated Prophet.
Instead of looking at Jesus' "lukewarm" comment in Revelation 3:15-16 as a spiritual temperature gauge, look at it as a calling from Jesus to become useful in your faith. What makes your faith useful? Listen to this week's deep dive to process that question more
It has been said that every fence has an owner, and the owner of that fence is always Satan. This is the reality for those who “sit in the middle” and never really commit to either side. Being lukewarm is both apathetic and pathetic, and this lack of conviction is disgusting to Jesus.
Sometimes big things come in small packages! Although we may feel of little significance, the church that remains faithful to the gospel of Jesus Christ will be rewarded by God.
