When leaders are at their best, they actively seek input from those around them and advocate for what’s important. Sam Mizener is a good friend and an amazing leader. His confidence on deck translates well to the classroom and as a teacher union president in the Kings Local School District. He is a family man through and through and is definitely one of the good guys in our sport.
John Rightmyer joins That’s a Foul to talk about why he referees, what he enjoys most about officiating, and shares his thoughts on the different levels of games he’s seen in his time on deck. You may ask: how does a lawyer approach refereeing water polo? John talks about it in the reverse; how has being a referee influenced the way he approaches his day job as an attorney? In the end, John gives us some thoughtful insight into why he believes most referees choose to officiate.
