Welcome to Deliberate Connections! Deliberate Connections is all about people who are deliberately connecting with themselves, each other, information, and the world at large. In these eight to twenty-minute podcasts you will hear why entrepreneurs and industry leaders worldwide have such a deliberate and purposeful approach to their methods and systems. We will talk about what hurdles they have faced and what they may have done differently now that they know what they know.
How do we create resilient learners, strengthen emotional intelligence, and harness the power of heart coherence in education and life? In this episode of Deliberate Connections with Christiana Frank, we dive into these questions with Jeff Goelitz, Director of Education at the HeartMath Institute.
Jeff brings decades of experience as an education consultant, curriculum developer, and trainer, working to transform classroom climates, improve parent-child communication, and empower youth well-being. We'll explore the neuroscience behind HeartMath techniques, discuss the role of coherence in learning, and introduce practical strategies—like Heart-Focused Breathing™—to support emotional regulation and resilience.
If you're an educator, parent, or anyone invested in human potential, this conversation will give you actionable insights to create calmer, more connected, high-performing individuals. Tune in and join the deliberate connection! https://www.heartmath.org/education/
Christiana Frank speaks with Jim-Bob Williams. Who is Jim-Bob?
Talented. Handsome. Accomplished. Jim-Bob Williams knows a lot of people like that. Jim-Bob practiced the principles of therapeutic humor for 35 years as an engineer and manager for two major chemical companies. Humor and levity helped many stressful situations, such as mergers, compliance audits, and wastewater treatment plant upsets.
In retirement, Jim-Bob studied the scientific connections to the use of humor. He has found Improv principles to be essential to a fuller retirement in the “4th Quarter” of life. Now a Certified Humor Professional through the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor (AATH), he is co-host of LaughBox (the AATH podcast) and serves on the AATH Research Council. He teaches improv and humor skills at a recovery homes and senior centers. He is an improv performer, a stand-up comic, and a writes jokes when not engaged in scholarly pursuits.

The best connections start from a solid foundation. When you know your own alignment and how you best show up in the world, you are poised for deeper and more meaningful connections with others as well.
Improv isn't just for actors anymore. We use improv workshops that build connections and foster a positive culture that is agile, versatile, and flexible. My work in improv has built valuable and long-last connections.
