This week on the show, we speak to cartoon artist and illustrator from Toast Cartoons, Martin Peers. Martin started his cartoon career creating animated training videos for Christian Aid and Think consulting solutions, where he produced visual aids for use around the world. After a knock in confidence in his pursuit of animation, and with his freelance work for Think drying up, Martin was forced to settle down and get a 'real job', which he found in becoming a technical drawer for a national railway company in the uk. As the years moved along, Martin's dream of cartoon creation was put on the back burner, and it wasn't until Martin started to suffer with depression that his sister provided him with a phone call that would in turn become a startling reminder of what he truly loved and who he really was. Needless to say, Martin quit his job and began to draw once more and in a moment of synchro-destiny, found himself illustrating almost immediately for a children's book in America called 'Levi Journey, An Unlikely Therapy Dog', which will be available world wide on the 6th May. Martin is now a full time cartoon illustrator and living proof that if you don't give up on your dreams, no matter how old you are, they will always come true in the end.

This week on the show, we speak to Master storyteller, Brain Fitzgerald from the Creative Global Agency 'Dancing Fox'. After working for GreenPeace for 35 years, Brian and fellow Fox, Tommy Crawford began assembling a new band of 'beautiful mischief makers' to bring fresh creative energy to the tables of some of the biggest charities and foundations in the world, helping the to redefine and reform the message and promote the wellbeing of the planet. We speak openly and honestly about his time in the field as an activist and discover some of the brave moments that have propelled Brian into living the unique and colourful life that he now leads. It is with great pleasure that I get to introduce you to this mischievous 'Dancing Fox', Brian Fitzgerald.
In Brian's own words:
I'm one half of Mister Fox, the trickster alter ego and Chief Executive Whisker Washer at Dancing Fox, Ltd, a creative agency and storytelling factory. The other half is my creative partner, Tommy Crawford. We worked together at Greenpeace, where I spent 35 years driving innovation internally and learning how to work the levers of disruptive communications.
In the early days, I did what one does in any charity startup: everything. I was a one-man IT department, a governance architect, a communications director, a deckhand, an action coordinator. I stopped a nuclear weapons test for four days. I hung a banner on the Statue of Liberty. I helped set up offices in Italy and the Soviet Union. I sailed on Greenpeace ships. I saved whales. I built a web activism team in the days before web activism was a thing.
I worked with Tommy and a band of storytelling pirates for nearly three years developing a theory of change for Greenpeace International and an organisational story, crafted on three continents, that got embedded into its long term planning. Tommy and I founded Dancing Fox to share our experience and techniques with other change makers, and to develop a mindbomb or two of our own. We believe in courage and creativity. We believe activism can be more invitational, more joyful, more hope and solutions based. We believe great stories have the power to change the world.

In the final episode of season one, we speak to artist and poet Becky Nuttall about her deeply feminine work and wonderful poetry. she talks about what it was like growing up in a religious school with an egocentric father and how, in her midlife. she began to truly express her emotions on both through mixed media art and writing which she now exhibits
from her website:
'Working from her South Devon-based studio Becky creates a coalescence of allegorical art and concepts. These reference the nature and implications of theology, religious violence, guilt, piety, art history, feminism, popular culture and conformity. - defining and considering how these are interpreted in adolescence.
Becky draws inspiration from a childhood immersed in art; her father was writer and artist Peter Draper who in turn was close friends with Hubert (Nibs) Dalwood. Peter was also a founder member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen. Alongside this creative home life are influences from a lifelong love of Dadaism, Surrealism, Kurt Schwitters and the effect of being a Protestant girl from an unconventional background in a convent school.'
We talk about everything from working in truth, what makes a good artist and how her daughter shaped her life and therefore, her incredible art. join me in rounding off the year of 2020 and the very first season, with the extraordinary voice of Becky Nuttall.
