"Gan" refers to "generative adversarial network," in which two "adversarial" neural networks "fight" one another in an exercise to determine the most messed up looking CryptoPunk that is still recognizable as a Punk.

If on-chain art is so great, why is it so difficult to right click save it? Yunks as an example: you don't even know what the canonical version to right click save is because it's different on different browsers. Piv offers the idea that maybe this is good! Middlemarch says the issue is that on-chain art "larps" by requiring a ton of off-resources to render, ultimately harming the "lasts forever" point. Some solutions are discussed.
