It has been said that "Restorative Justice is a term not as well-known as SEL, CRT, and DEI, but it is just as insidious. What started in the prison system has evolved into a deceptively nice-sounding approach to school discipline that, more frequently than not, results in more harm than actual justice for either the offender or the victims." SEL: Social and Emotional LearningCRT: Critical Race TheoryDEI: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion So, what is Restorative Justice? Is it "liberal nonsense" or a vital tool in communities, schools, workplaces & the justice system? Facts from a Constitutional Conservative who has served for years as a Restorative Justice Facilitator... Just like any system or process, it only works if it is done properly. If there is an offender unwilling to effectively participate, traditional punishments should be utilized. Something else important to consider is the voice this process gives to victims. People affected by misbehavior have needs that must be met. SB 1288 as amended on 4/1/25 amends the FL Parent Bill of Rights to better protect our kids and our parental rights. On 4/1/25, Katherine spoke in front of the Judiciary Senate Committee to urge them to vote favorably on SB 1288 as amended. Unfortunately, with how many people asked to speak on this bill, time for speakers was cut quite short and Katherine was not able to speak on the 3 specific parts of the bill that protect our rights. Freedom Fighter Maija Hahn also spoke on SB 1288 as amended. The committee voted favorably, and the bill moved to the next committee.
SB 1270 as amended on 4/1/25 amends the FL Patient Bill of Rights to protect us from being denied medical care based on vaccination status. On 4/1/25, Katherine spoke in front of the Health Policy Senate Committee to urge them to vote favorably on SB 1270 as amended. Freedom Fighter Maija Hahn also spoke on SB 1270 as amended. The committee voted favorably, and the bill moved to the next committee.
