Turning to God removes the veil on our potential, revealing the freedom to transform into something beautiful. It's a continuous process, but with each step, you'll reflect more and more of God's glory. Don't settle for the fire, choose the transformation.

Though Jesus endured immense suffering, he refused the pain-numbing wine, facing the full brunt of the crucifixion. This act mirrored his unwavering stance throughout his life. He didn't shy away from his purpose, being nailed to the cross for who he declared himself to be: the Son of Man. His death wasn't a mere execution, but a testament to his convictions and the path he chose.

Don’t lie. God sees all. God knows our heart. Lies, even small ones, can erode trust, which is essential for healthy relationships and functioning societies. When someone discovers they've been lied to, it can be hurtful and make them question everything else you've said. Rebuilding trust can be difficult, if not impossible.
Lies often have unintended consequences. A seemingly harmless lie can snowball into bigger problems, leading to more complex situations that are harder to untangle. You might also face negative repercussions if your lie is discovered, from hurt feelings to damaged reputations or even legal consequences.
Maintaining a web of lies can be mentally taxing. Remembering fabricated details, keeping track of different stories you've told different people, and living in fear of getting caught can cause anxiety and stress. In short, THE TRUTH IS UNDEFEATED!

One of the most powerful blessings bestowed on us from God was our ability to pray, and His power to answer our prayers. Unfortunately, many do not know the power of prayer. Although I had not always prayed when I was growing up, I do so earnestly today. There are a number of times throughout my life where prayer was an absolute necessity; attempted suicide, injuries, surgeries, DUI, drugs, fighting, cheating, reckless behavior, and much more. My son, William’s birth, was another time to pray. Our community and beyond prayed for Baby William. Despite doctors promising doom if we did not terminate his existence, William walks, talks, goes to high school, and enjoys playing basketball, baseball, and bowling immensely. God always gives us more than we ask for. I pray lots, and I am blessed beyond measure. I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

My guest today is someone many of you have seen and heard on social media, as well as bringing the gospel all over the world! Pastor Kelly K is a husband, father, pastor, author, and evangelist. He has been in full-time ministry for over 10 years and has helped thousands of people come to know Jesus through his messages of love, forgiveness, repentance, and salvation.

I was an only child with a huge heart, good manners, respectful, kind, smart, energetic, and good spirit. Things went awry when I got immersed in the world. Worldly ways will ruin you. God’s goods, named William Yancey, were tampered. I distinctly remember telling myself that “I will never take, drink, or ingest anything that will alter my body or mindset.” I LIED! Alcohol, drugs, premarital sex, pornography, hard music, and profanity changed me. For years, I was a runway train. Thank God for His Grace and mercy. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. In 2019, I was driving on my way home back from taking my son, William, to see the Golden State Warriors play the Washington Wizards AND meet his hero, Steph Curry. I was heading into my second divorce, and a buddy of mine that I was talking to introduced me to scripture that was brand new to me. This altered my perspective. It was consoling. He said, “Count it all joy.” I was like what!? This blew me away. Accomplishments and trials will come. Stand fast, brothers and sisters!

Life is not easy, but conquerable with God, the Almighty. No matter the situation, stress involved, or obstacles encountered, Jesus Christ provides calm. My Uncle Randall Robinson passed away on 24 Mar 2023. It was a blow to the world, especially our family. He was legendary. Founding and leading the lobbyist group, Trans Africa, to help stop apartheid in South Africa was one of his many accomplishments. In spite of being stressed out about the death of my uncle, leaving my son, William, as well as my business going unattended for a week, I found peace in St. Kitts at the funeral. It was at the most interesting time and place. I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

My guest today, I am very fond of and love dearly. She is Deacon Evelyn Brown, born in Macon, Georgia LIVING CLOSE TO THE LATE AND INFAMOUS….(we’ll let her share that legendary person).. She spent the first 15 years of her life in Macon, Georgia, before relocating to Cleveland, OH. A graduate of John Adams High School, then Programming and Systems Institute Technical, Deacon began her 28-1/2 year career with AT&T as a tape librarian. She reminds us that “technology back then was not as sophisticated as today. Data was stored on magnetic tapes, microfilm, paper tape, disk drives and punched paper cards!” All of which I remember well. Today, it’s all stored in THE CLOUD. My my my, how times have changed! After moving up the ladder, all the way to Telecommunications Supervisor, Deacon Evelyn retired in 1998. On to her second career in Information Technology with Nextel, currently known as Sprint Nextel, where she was eventually laid off in 2005. Nevertheless, she landed on her feet once again….this time, in the fitness industry, at the YMCA. She started working out on a regular basis, participating in various fitness programs and classes at the local YMCA. Her spiritual journey started as a little girl surrounded by her family of strong believers of the Christian faith. Unfortunately, the move from Georgia to Ohio interrupted consistent daily and weekly praise and worship, until landing at a church in Alpharetta, Georgia. AND THEN, her late husband, Willie, accepted a job transfer to the Washington DC area, and the church search was on again. This time God paved their way to MLK Christian Church in Reston, VA where my parents Reverends Jean and Clyde pastor. Deacon’s family of 4 started there over 40 years ago. Today, Deacon Evelyn serves and attends MLK Christian without her late husband, Willie, and daughter, Anita. Both gone too soon. God rest their souls. Through it all, Deacon Evelyn shares, “my faith has grown exponentially!” I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

Relationships are an integral part of life, especially the relationship we have with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is the most important! We are to love others as our Father loves us. Most importantly, relationally we are to be equally yoked, and of one accord. I am guilty of not being equally yoked in all of my relationships. I know better now. We must strive to harness and commit to our loved one with the Fruits of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. This is Bible. Scripture says, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? She has served as a leader in the Dallas/Fort Worth mental health community for more than three decades. Throughout her career she has maintained expertise in psychotherapy, pastoral counseling, higher education and social justice. Dr. Wall has served as vice president at two HBCU’s; has twice been department chair in psychology; and has been a staff pastor in counseling. She is a writer who addresses diverse issues of currency in American society. With degrees from Vassar College, Boston University and George Washington University, she has consistently worked among the people in their churches, jails, schools, hospitals and online—challenging their burdens, being inspired by their strength. Dr. Wall, a former Fulbright Scholar, currently serves as Grant Director of Reclaiming Mental Health at Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas and Counselor at The Lovett School in Atlanta, Georgia. She is often consulted on issues of social equity and justice. Over the last 55 years, I have had some ups and downs. Fortunately, although, at times, the valleys seemed insurmountable, I made it out. I’ve had more ups than downs, thank God! My mom, my go to, always there to encourage me, and help me right the ship when I went off course. “Look back! Look back from whence you came. You have always made it through. My guest is Jason Janow! He is from Spring City, TN. He’s had a lot of stuff happen in his life. At the age of 10 he started as a laborer working for his uncle who shed a lot of positivity into his life, but unfortunately Jason was not open to any of that at the time. Consequently, at the age of 15 he ended up getting kicked out of high school for fighting. He was a little fella, and did not take kindly to being picked on….so he fought A LOT!
He loves fishing and hunting, but he ended up spending more time with his other hobbies….drugs, sex, and alcohol. His wild and crazy lifestyle first put him jail until he escaped, and finally ended up in and out prison for 18.5 years of his 47 year old life. “It’s been hard”, says Jason, but “I determined”. At age 45 Jason finally gave his life to the Lord and has not looked back. Praise God! I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

My guest and I have known each other for many years, actually his whole life. Almost 17 years now. His name is William M Yancey Jr. Yes, my son William. Mini-me! William was born on September 11, 2006. He was 1LB-14oz. Yes, he was a preemie! William fit in the palm of my hand. My wedding band fit like a hula hoop around his leg. We were encouraged by the medical staff to let him go. The doctor said, “65% of these cases fail.” That’s when my dad, Reverend Clyde jumped up and said, “we believe in a Higher Being! We will go with the 35%!” And I said, “if William is in there fighting, then we’re out here fighting with him!” Our community and beyond prayed for William. Pollard’s Chicken, the restaurant next to my business, put it up on their sign that stands 25 feet in the air. It read, “PRAY FOR BABY WILLIAM!” People all over the world were praying for Baby William. William was in the NICU for 92 days. Some days seemed longer that others. But, praise God, he came home with mommy and daddy. Yes, William is a miracle. But, we’re not here to talk about his birthday and all of his battles along the way. Today, we thank God and we rejoice about one of William’s favorite days on earth….the day he got to meet his hero, Stephen Curry! I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

Our guest today is a good friend of mine. We attended the Naval Academy together. His name is Neil Stratton. We played football together, BRIEFLY! In his words, “He was a walk-on outside linebacker. During this time, Stratton earned the distinction of being perhaps the worst player on the worst team in America during the late 80s.”
After service, Neil helped start a small draft-oriented publication called Lone Star Football (LSF) with his business partner in 1997, but dissolved in 2000. There were brighter days ahead. In 2002 he launched his current company, Inside the League (ITL). Through hard work and perseverance, Inside the League grew. So much so, that in 2008 Stratton was hired to run the 2008 Hula Bowl, which turned out to be the final performance of a venerated game that once featured names like Dan Marino, Joe Montana and Tony Dorsett. In order to fully put his focus on his duties as Executive Director of the game, Stratton shuttered the ITL site in Fall 2007. BUT, his love and passion for what he created was still eating away at him. Eager to continue his work, he retooled ITL in Fall 2008. This time, the service would publish several times weekly with a 12-month news cycle. ITL clients responded, and slowly, the service grew.
Since then, ITL has added several other popular features and services, which include; seasonal newsletters, a free weekly email called ‘Friday Wrap’, a thriving ITL Twitter account, his daily blog, Succeed in Football (http://succeedinfootball.com/), the ITL YouTube channel, (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZmefTpF4mOSKdWT0y-KnAw) along with his book, Moving the Chains, a guide to the NFL draft for parents with sons considering a career in pro football. Wherever you are in the football world, and whatever your budget, ITL has the tools that can help you succeed. They will work with you and help you make your dreams come true.
Neil’s faith to God, along with his grind and commitment to serving people changed his trajectory. He encourages us to all to put God first, take a different path(don’t get lost in the crowd), surround yourself with people invested in you, and to be genuine! He quotes scripture, Numbers 14:7-9 NIV, “and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. 32 years ago my defensive backs’ coach and I did not see eye to eye. We had some hellacious screaming matches, and in the end, I lost. I was eventually benched! For years, my mind and spirit were polar opposites. The Adversary convinced me that I hated this man, when actually I did not. After all those years, we finally reconciled. Our conversation went nothing like I imagined.
Here are the facts! We cannot build a God-approved life from a pile of rubble. The hurt, pain, sin, and transgressions must be relinquished to the Holy Spirit. What is holding onto you so tightly that your mind cannot let go of? Whatever it is, however long it has been tugging at your heart, mind, and soul, LET IT GO! I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

My guest and I are brothers in Christ. No, we have never met in person, and that is ok. God brought us together to fellowship. Justin Bartley is his name. He was born and raised in Spring City, Tennessee. He grew up in a Christian family, and even remembers his dad being saved. Like many of us, Justin went to school, played sports, and had fun. His sport was baseball. One might think that playing baseball was his release, and a way to blow off steam. But not Justin. His go to was the weight room. He started lifting weights at 11 years old. YES, 11! Before he knew it, Justin was powerlifting. It was still his stress releaser. At age 30, it all came to a screeching halt. Justin was in a terrible car accident. He fell asleep at the wheel. He was blessed to be alive, but lifting weights was no more.
NOW WHAT!? Justin went into a tail spin. Depending on illegal drugs and alcohol trapped him in a dark space for years. He no longer wanted to live. Things got so bad. This was it. The straw that broke the camel’s back. Add this to two failed marriages, totaling 3 cars, and being totally out of control, he finally recognized he did not have a drug or alcohol problem. Justin had a self problem.
Finally, Justin got saved. He gave his life to Jesus! His testimony is riveting. Despite having a widow maker-heart attack, God still spared his life! For years, Justin looked everywhere but to God for help. Today, Justin owns a construction company, and co-leads a recovery program to help others battling similar demons, giving God all the glory. He boasts, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”-Proverbs 16-7 I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

On this day, I have the pleasure and honor to have a conversation with one of my good friends from way back. We attended the Naval Academy together. We were youngins, full of ourselves, maxing out in the weight room, and terrorizing Annapolis and Washington DC. Yes, we had BIG FUN! He went from Midshipman, to Surface Warfare Officer, to Pastor. Yes! Pastor, James Arthur Lavender! Hallelujah! Congratulations, my man! Pastor James grew up in the church, but did not fully understand Christianity until he was in his 30’s. Well, that was a long time ago and much has changed. In 2014, James attended the Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was ordained in Northern Virginia, and since 2015, Pastor’s Word of Grace Christian Church in Herndon, VA. Along his journey James was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but of course that did not stop him. Praise God, James is all good. He and is wife, Catherine, married in 2015 and are of one accord. Their love and devotion to Christ, and to each other overflows into their congregation, the community, and the rest of the world. Please join me in a warm welcome for Pastor James Arthur Lavender.

Although David Derby and I have never met in person, we are brothers in Christ, nonetheless. I can relate to his journey because he was a student-athlete and he is a fighter who went through IT! We often hear the phrase, “you never know what someone is going through or what they have been through”. Hearing his story is jaw dropping! Talk about going through the fire. WHOA! He entered prison as an atheist, and walked out a Christian. To God be the glory! David’s tattered past is behind him. Chris Hart and I were Midshipmen and teammates together at the US Naval Academy. This interview gave us time to catch up, fellowship, and me the opportunity to apologize to my amazing friend publicly for putting him in a tough situation. Nevertheless, Chris went on to complete 41 CONSECUTIVE STARTS! In the words of one our favorite defensive backs coach, the late Coach Mike Drake, “He was IRREPLACEABLE! ”What’s more, Chris surged ahead thriving as an Engineer Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Upon retirement, Chris served as an area sales representative and regional sales manager over a 9-year career before deciding to join the financial services industry in 2014. Today, Chris proudly represents the Raymond James Financial Group in Murrieta, CA. He is a a financial advisor “who strives to provide a high level of customer service to clients. The opportunity to meet clients precisely where they are and help them to move along life’s journey towards abundant living through generosity is one of Chris’ greatest joy.” It goes without saying, that Chris gives God all the glory every second of the day. Ed Barbato and I go wayyyy back. We worked out, hung out, and rode our Harley’s together. Drugs and alcohol were a mainstay in our lives. We were somewhat of a menace in Virginia Beach. Drinking, drug’n, riding and barely surviving. Somehow we made it out alive. Ed moved to Tennessee finding himself alone for 8 years on a mountain, while I completed two divorces, a few bankruptcies, and bounced around to several residences. I was even homeless for a while. Nevertheless, God put both of us in TIMEOUT! I don’t think we will ever know HOW He did it, but He did. We are alive to speak on it, fellowship, giving God all the glory! I am Billy Yancey. One of the most powerful blessings bestowed on us from God was our ability to pray, and His power to answer our prayers. Unfortunately, many do not know the power of prayer. Although I had not always prayed when I was growing up, I do so earnestly today. There are a number of times throughout my life where prayer was an absolute necessity; attempted suicide, injuries, surgeries, DUI, drugs, fighting, cheating, reckless behavior, and much more. My son, William’s birth, was another time to pray. Our community and beyond prayed for Baby William. Despite doctors promising doom if we did not terminate his existence, William walks, talks, goes to high school, and enjoys playing basketball, baseball, and bowling immensely.God always gives us more than we ask for. I have known Captain Chris Thompson since 1979! We were in the 5th grade together. We attended Landon School, NAPS, and then the U.S. Naval Academy together. Although our starting points were identical, our paths and journeys were very different. Chris was praying daily in the Rotunda Chapel at the Naval Academy, while I was running around town. Chris was a tremendous student-athlete. He grew up in Washington D.C., taking two city buses along with the Landon School bus to get to and from home every day. This did not stop him from being captain of the tennis team who dominated in the classroom and on the tennis court! Chris took his ability to lead along with his grit and tenacity onto Annapolis, MD to help prepare him for the rigors of being an officer in the U.S. Navy. After completing Supply Corp School in Atlanta, Georgia, he was soon attached to the USS INDEPENDENCE CV-62 from 1993-1995. Following serving on the USS INDEPENDENCE, over the next 28 years Chris successfully led in various positions on sea and land. Finally, retiring from active duty, completing 31 years of service in June of 2021. Today, retired Captain Chris Thompson is Director of Supply Chain for Winland Foods in Oakbrook, IL. He is married with three kids, still playing competitive tennis, and living a life dedicated to giving God the glory. I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

A close friend of mine left us to be with Jesus in 2015. His wife and daughter, both with whom he had absolutely incredible relationships, still grieve today. His name was Wayne Speelman. He lived and spread God’s glory through his love, acts of kindness, and faith and commitment to Jesus Christ. His favorite scripture was, “He must become greater; I must become less.”-John 3:30 NIV Wayne lived His word everyday, sun or rain, up or down. I was blessed to have a conversation with his daughter, Brianna. She is an amazing young lady with incredible faith, drive, work ethic, determination, and love for others. Many years ago while playing football with the Silver Spring Boys Club, I slipped and fell and soon ended up in the emergency room. After hours of waiting and X-rays, I found out my finger was broken. I fell apart. I could not play again for 3 weeks! Since then, I found myself totally broken a few times over the years. My Uncle Randall Robinson passed away on 24 Mar 2023. It was a blow to the world, especially our family. He was legendary. Founding and leading the lobbyist group, Trans Africa, to help stop apartheid in South Africa was one of his many accomplishments. In spite of being stressed out about the death of my uncle, leaving my son, William, as well as my business going unattended for a week, I found peace in St. Kitts at the funeral. Many years ago, Kim was one of my clients. From insisting that I needed to spruce up my gym with plants, and other decorations, Kim was not afraid to share her two cents! Begrudgingly, I listened. After the ending of her 22 year marriage, losing her husband, home, and one of her children to divorce, Kim began her Spiritual journey. What she experienced is hard to digest, but Kim shares some valuable nuggets we all can learn from. The irony of it all, is that both of our marriages ended for the same reason; infidelity! Years ago I met with a psychiatrist because I lacked confidence. I did not trust myself. I was getting ready for a bodybuilding competition, and was anxious about my posing routine and how the audience would receive it. Clearly, I was not spiritually grounded. Not believing what others believe can be problematic. We all have different beliefs and different belief systems. When we don’t believe in ourselves, then we also distrust the Holy Spirit who is inside of us. This is a big no no! True faith requires belief. And we cannot have belief without faith. They go hand in hand. It took me a while to fully understand this. Fortunately, like many of you, I am surrounded by believers! When we believe, LIFE IS DIFFERENT! Do you believe? I am Billy Yancey. Ever call your dad a fool, and almost get your head knocked off for saying it? I DID! I did not have the best relationship with my adoptive father, however I am forever grateful for him being the man that he was and adopting me as his legal son. As time passed, I acquired more bad habits from “father figures”. I am finally living and leading my son, William, as God prefers. Fatherhood is an honor. As fathers, our job is not to “hangout” with our kids. Our job is to lead by example and lead our children to Jesus Christ. God gave us His only begotten son to die for our sins. Scripture says, “Enter through the narrow gate…but narrow is the gate and small is road that leads to life, but only a few find it.” -Matthew 7:13-14 Just because 1.6% of college football players play in the NFL, did not mean I would be one of them. My biological father left me when I was two years old. My adopted father passed away a number of years ago. Ever since Clyde took the wheel, life has been amazing. When I was at my lowest point, he taught me to take all of the responsibility of any of my failures, to work on myself, and God would take care of the rest. Clyde was right! Not only is he the most positive person that I know, Clyde has a litany of nuggets from which we can all learn. Along with my mother, Reverend Casey is the Associate Pastor at Martin Luther King Christian Church in Reston, VA. His path to where he stands faithfully today was not a straight line. Business and friendships to name a few. My best friend’s son, Jake, started out slow, but now makes a big splash academically and athletically at one of the top Ivy League schools in the country! And William’s mommy and daddy have taken coparenting to another level, while God elevates their expectations past their wildest dreams. You ever get so high on marijuana you forget which way is up? Many years ago, I got challenged to take a bong hit. It was less than pleaseant! One of the dumbest things I have done, EVER! Aside from the anxiety, nervousness, and panicky feelings I was experiencing, for the life of me I could not find my way out of the parking lot! Years later, I tried to beat up a service attendant at a tire store. And, as time passed I got worse. I disrespected my business. Have you ever been impatient? Have you ever wanted something so bad, that you just could not wait until it happened or for it to come to fruition? I was restless and impatient. I came close to making the ultimate mistake. I almost went “John Q” over my son, William, many years ago. Denzel Washington played a father who went sideways because their health insurance would not cover the costs of his son’s life-saving surgery. He took matters into his own hands. I was minutes from doing the same. Fortunately, I took the doctor’s advice. Today, William is a thriving 16 year old. There are other times in my life where impatience almost got the best of me. Most notably, my business. ANABO started on a white board, but came close to being owned by someone else with a much different outlook. We are days away from launching the ANABO APP. My grandfather had ten of his ribs broken refereeing a football game. My Naval Academy classmate took the heat for our platoon. One of my athletes thought he was on steroids. I abused alcohol and alcohol abused me. I did not know how to manage it, and just having a few drinks was not an option. For me, it was ALL or nothing! I drank to get drunk. Alcohol never did me any favors. Consequently, I had countless days and nights filled with pandemonium. It’s hard to hear the Holy Spirit when you’re intoxicated. I am Billy Yancey. God is THE GOAT!

As soon as we think we know everything, WE DON'T! I thought I knew more than one of my mentors who coached me to be the 2X-Mr. Virginia bodybuilding champion. I was wrong. I also thought I should not attend private school. Wrong again! It is ok to acknowledge that we do not know everything. The sooner we recognize this, the faster we learn. Only God is ALL knowing.

My son, William, was born on September 11, 2006 at 1:33am. He weighed 1LB-14OZS. The doctor encouraged us to terminate. That was never an option. As first time parents and for William especially, 92 days in the NICU was brutal. With God omnipresent, and nonstop prayers from family, friends, and the community our little guy powered through. The constant beeps and growls of a plethora of machines was intimidating and endless. But, God! Faith can be hard at times, but never unconquerable. With faith, all things are possible!

I cleaned horse stalls for a brief period in my life. Brief because my mother found out about it and was seething mad. She and my dad drove several hours just to set me straight. It was ugly. Never settle! NEVER!

Plebe summer is terrible, especially if you are a football player! I played football for the U.S. Naval Academy and, by no means, could I EVER be late for a formation. My roommate almost got our whole company in big trouble! He regretted that. Years later, I managed to ruin the friendship with one of my favorite mentors. No matter who we are, what we do, or what we achieve, discipline is everything.

At the Naval Academy, liberty is like precious gold to a midshipman. Being able to leave campus for any amount of time is celebratory! So, doing anything remotely close to jeopardizing free time was shunned and obliterated.
Back in July 1990, some friends and I took a weekend trip to Ocean City, Maryland. We rented a condominium three stories up, giving us an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean. Well, college kids can be college kids. It got a little crazy! A brief altercation with a pedestrian, along with a run-in with the local police, almost turned our long weekend of fun in the sun into a trip to the morgue. I tiptoed past death. Actually, I dodged it, LITERALLY!
