Freedomhouse is a growing family of everyday people who are hungry to live out an authentic and powerful Christianity together. We are a community of real people living very real lives in pursuit of God, desiring to see God’s kingdom come in every place and space we have influence. We deeply cherish the person and presence of God and we long to see every person become who Jesus has destined them to be – free of the grip and shame of sin, free of religious obligation and free to be the loved world changers they are!
On Sunday there were three encouragements to us as a church from the life of Martha, Isaiah and Abraham.
We trust you are encouraged by their authenticity of heart grounded in the soil of the lives-walking out their convictions with great love.
Ryan takes us through the account of Phillip who sees the limitations of his circumstances contrasted to Andrew's response to a little boys lunch box with wondering faith, asking Jesus to intervene. In the account of feeding 5000, Jesus never disengages from Phillip in spite of his limited perspective. Instead, Jesus calls him to repentance which is about a change of heart and perspective and not limited to a religious check box. Jesus invites his disciples to participate in the Kingdom with simple thanksgiving and trust.
We hope that as you listen to this message that your heart is moved to trust God.
We often swing from being inspired to lean more into Jesus to the feeling of powerlessness and apathy towards our commitment to Jesus.
Ryan unpacks from the life of Peter an encouragement for us, even in the pendulum swings of our emotions ( and of Peter's) the life of faith is one of risk and hope. Jesus always remains, despite our failures and mistakes.
Jesus is worthy of our trust - keep walking after Him.
We pray that you would be encouraged and moved to follow Jesus deeper.
Gifts are God's tangible power, and His love for us is both the means and the purpose.
Jesus, fully human, moved through life on Earth in perfect union with the Father and the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t use and discard us; His desire is for us, His children, to walk intimately with Him. As we do, we reveal His nature to a broken world desperate for His healing love.
Love was Jesus's driving force, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit empower that love. People are the focus of God's affection; we must seek His love for others, His empowering gifts naturally flow.
The call to know Him. To be known by Him. And make Him known.
Tarryn Graham passionately teaches on intimacy and the gifts of the Spirit, emphasizing that knowing the Holy Spirit requires investing time, presence and proximity. This knowledge is essential for both everyday life and moments of profound Kingdom impact in our community.
Through compelling stories, Tarryn illustrates God's faithfulness and specificity in people lives. How does the Holy Spirit speak and act in yours?
Our prayer is that you will be inspired to listen to the Holy Spirit.
Ryan shares on the humility of character formation in the light of spiritual gifting and walking in the way of Jesus.
When we build platforms of influence on gifting alone, on human abilities and captivating rhetorical just like the Corinthians church, we build for disappointment and deception.
Ryan encourages us in the pursuit of true character formed by the steady, daily walk with Jesus.
What does the Kingdom look like in your context ?
In part two of this message within the 'Doings the Stuff' series. Nick unpacks how the sphere where we work, apply our gifts and talents is where we are called to minister and make disciples.
What we spend our days doing is not separate or unconsecrated because it is not a paid position in ministry. We are the ekklesia wherever we go and whatever we do, let’s labour in the marketplace, our family and other spheres of influence - with this one life we have been given, all belongs to God.
Nicholas sets a framework for why we compartmentalise our ministry life being relegated only to Sundays and "church" and work being something unrelated to building the Kingdom. From historical translation to current data on work life balance, he invites us to reevaluate and dream in light of the great commission what 75% (time spent working) of our life might look like when we understand that we are the Ekklesia all of the time, everywhere we go.

Sydney Joelson equips us to do the work of evangelism and the presenting of it. Everyday we will encounter people who are ready for the gospel. Sydney takes us through five points in telling the story of the gospel so that we are equipped to tell the gospel in a simple way to those who are tender and searching.
Ryan addresses how the demonic can oppress and dominate people in this life and how God has given us everything we need to be and continually live free, filled with the Holy Spirit. We hope that this framework for understanding will also help to equip you for where you come across demonic oppression and domination as you take the Kingdom of God wherever you go.
Tracey and Melissa share vulnerably from their own journeys as mothers and wives. This message is an encouragement for families and the season of life that they are in. Our homes are the centre of our relationships spilling out into the world. We put such pressure on ourselves, what we have and what we don’t. Homes are not dependant on our martial status or how much or how little we have. We have Jesus to offer people and our kitchen tables are a place of great truth and love.
We hope you see your homes differently and how your apprenticeship to Jesus makes your home a place for Jesus to bring life - the richest of fare!
Tarryn shares with us the moment that marked her in understanding that God is real and He is with her.
The King of Heaven wants to speak to you and mark you.
Tarryn reminds us that because of Jesus and what He has done the way is open, it is not closed. The invitation is there daily but we have to accept it. We trust that you’d be encouraged to see time with God as essential for living each day and that you would be expectant that He will speak to you.
Jesus is God. Yet, has he laid down his functional divinity having to rely wholly on the Holy Spirit to walk in union with the Father in Heaven while he was on earth. That is great news for us. We can look to Jesus and see how He models for us complete dependance on and walking with and the Holy Spirit to do the Kingdom
Sydney gets practical about partnering with God
In the second session at our training time. This session specially focuses on the ‘how’ of approaching people with the gospel or in ministering to others ‘on the streets’. From approaching them respectfully, being able to ask questions that would help with ministering the Kingdom of God when they are open and willing.
Alexander gives the context for the priesthood of all believers being qualified and called to minister alongside the Holy Spirit to the one in front of them.
Sydney and Tracey Jolson are ordained as elders.

Boast in Jesus
Greg ministers out of 1 Corinthians and how the gospel calls you and me - our broken and ordinary lives and in Jesus’s hands, they are qualified. No one has anything to boast about except Jesus.
God shows us our weakness but doesn’t leave us there - in His mercy He restores us.
ChangingOur Perspective
Bazil encourages us to lift our gaze and stir up faith and hope in our own hearts because for the trustworthy nature of God, we can respond in all areas of our lives with trust that He is with us and working all things for our good.
Humility & Obedience
We don’t have to have all the ‘goods’. We are called to take what we have and humbly submit it in obedience to God. This changes how we see ourselves and the resources we have available to us.
Prayer and Fasting
Ryan teaches into prayer and fasting before Freedomhouse goes into a five day fast.
This week Ryan shifts gears, as we move from talking about our Identity in Christ to our Authority as followers of Christ. In christ we have been granted every right to make disciples.

We wanna be an I am people who understand our identity,
but we are gonna move into authority next week.
But the crucial aspect of identity

because of our Western secular individualistic ideologies

This week we shift gears in understanding identity, Ryan explains that the church needs to grow up in maturity in understanding our identity, who we are, but most importantly who we belong to.

This Sunday Gen Nel, Brings a powerful message. Telling us of how both Jesus and Joshua came out of their desert in weakness, choosing physical and military weakness. Encouraging the church that we don't come out of the desert by our own power but by His. She shows us the 3 three things in common in these stories. 1. Obedience, 2. Dependancy, and 3. Devotion.
