The data I was referencing in relation to neglect was based upon the Romanian orphan data collected in the early 1990s where they tracked developmental delays in those orphans who were largely neglected and how it impacted them, as it was such a large data set. There were also studies to show alterations of cortisol and amygdala function in those who have been neglected, the very same areas we focus on in relation to fight or flight responses in persistent pain patients and measures of safety, respectively.
