Thyatira is pronounced "thigh-uh-tie-ruh". This church is known as the corrupt church. They were warned by Jesus to stop doing some horrible things that was taking place. Many of those things are relatable to what is easily accessed on the internet or social media today. We must be very careful about what we watch and listen to, so our minds and hearts don't become corrupted.

Pergamos is known as the compromising church. to compromise means to "accept standards that are lower than is desirable." It means to accept things that you don't fully agree with. In this life it can be easy to compromise, especially since everyone around us usually don't follow Jesus. Lets be different! Let's never compromise!

Some people will not go anywhere near the book of Revelation. They are afraid of what's written in it. The things written in Revelation are only scary if you are not a believer in Jesus! Mercy by definition is, showing compassion or forgiveness towards someone when you have the power to punish or harm them. That's exactly what God has done to us! He had the power to punish us but He didn't! He sent Jesus instead! That is what we should do to others! Show them that same mercy!

Jesus wants us to bring all of our troubles to Him. He tells us to come to Him and He will give us rest. Jesus himself calls us His friend! Think about how you spend time with and talk to the closest person to you. Think about how comfortable and relaxed you feel. You can simply sit in the room or car with them and not even feel like you have to say anything. That is how we can and should feel with Jesus! Prayer doesn't have to be a formal, fancy, or repetitive thing. Sometimes you can simply sit and think about God and focus on Jesus with no words. You're still spending time with Him! Hang with Jesus like you're hanging with your friend!

Sometimes it can be really hard to forgive someone who has really hurt us. Forgiveness isn't something earned. Forgiveness is a gift. It is given. When God sent Jesus to the cross for us, it was a free gift of forgiveness. We didn't deserve it. He did it anyway. When we think about how much we have been forgiven of, it helps us freely give our forgiveness to those who have hurt us. Freely we have received forgiveness, so freely we should give forgiveness. Not because we or anyone else deserves it, but because Jesus deserves it!

When we look at a flock of sheep, we usually just see a bunch of sheep. When We look at a crown of people, we usually just see a bunch of people. When Jesus looks at a crowd of people, He sees all of them, individually. He see each person. When a good shepherd looks at his flock, he sees the individual sheep, and knows them by name as well. They all matter. Every sheep matters to the shepherd, and every person matters to Jesus.

Our sin cuts us off from God. He is perfect and He is holy. Sin cannot be in His presence. Value is another word for worth. When we talk about the value of something, we are talking about how much it is worth. God must have thought we are worth A LOT, because He sent His one and only perfect son to die for us on the cross. He sees our value. Jesus sees our value. We are a treasure to Him. What an awesome and comforting thought, huh? Oh how He loves us! Thank you Lord!

The Bible tells us that our bodies are a temple. A temple is where God lives. He dwells in His Holy temple. The Bible also tells us that our bodies are where His Holy Spirit lives. Think about that for a second! Our bodies are where the living, alive, Spirit of God lives! Wow, right?! Together, let's try to take better care of our bodies that God has given us!

God has made us all very different and very unique. The Bible says that He has given us all gifts! He cares and loves all of us so deeply and truly that He designed us all to serve Him in our own way. Read the 12th chapter of Romans today. It's one of my all time favorite chapters of the Bible. Many times when we pray we remember to thank God for many things, ask Him for many things, and pray for lots of people. How often do you pray for your parents? I know they are like real life superheroes and it may seem like they don't need that many prayers, but they do! They work so hard and they love you so much! God is concerned with things on the inside. He is interested in our hearts. He doesn't care about our clothes or our stuff. He looks at what is important. When we believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of us and changes us from the inside! We will never ever be perfect. Have you ever been to a wedding? Or saw one in a movie? The groom is standing up front at the end of the isle waiting and watching his beautiful bride walk toward him. He thinks she is so lovely. Have you ever had a time when your were having a bad day, or feeling really down and you just did not know what to pray for? Me too! That has happened to me a lot! Thank goodness God has given us His Holy Spirit who can take our cries, our groans, and our innermost thoughts, and turn them into the perfect words! Thats called interceding! Jesus gave us 2 pretty simple commands to follow. Love God with all of our heart and mind and soul and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves. Our neighbor doesn't mean just those who live next door to us or those who live in our neighborhood. Our neighbor is everyone. Our neighbor is all people. Our neighbor is others. What goals do you have for your life? What are your short term goals? (things you'd like to accomplish in the near future) What about your long term goals? How would you describe unity in your own words? Do you know what it means to be unified? God certainly wants all of His people to have unity. Often times when we hear the word "rules" we think of it as a bad thing. We think of them as a punishment. But they aren't! Especially rules from God. God gives us rules because He loves us. I just love how Jesus did everything the opposite way that all of the religious leaders did things. Sadly, if people were sick, had diseases, had skin conditions, blindness, or anything other problem, they were viewed as an outcast and avoided. They were treated so badly. They weren't even welcome inside the city. Jesus however, went right to where the hurting people were. He touched people no one would go near. He healed people that others thought were hopeless. He spent time with people that most others hated and rejected. That's our awesome savior! Let's strive to be like Him!

Being led by God is such an amazing blessing! Jesus allowed His every thought and every decision to be led by God. He went to Him in prayer about everything! Jesus often withdrew from crowds to be alone with God. It can be really hard to listen and to hear God speaking to us when there are too many distractions around. Jesus deserves all the praise in the world! Wouldn't you agree? He is so faithful, loving, and forgiving to us! He blesses us with dozens, even hundreds, of blessings every day! What an amazing God we have! The Bible tells us that when we get to heaven, we will all have our very own, special, one on one time with Jesus! Sometimes it can be really scary, and very hard to admit when we have made a mistake. Often times we might think that it is showing weakness to admit to our mess-ups. This couldn't be further from the truth! It actually shows great courage to confess and admit our sins to God! We are always going to make mistakes and Jesus knows that! That is why He went to the cross for us, because we can never be perfect. He certainly does not expect us to be. Thankfully He is PERFECT! When we believe in Jesus and what He did for us on the cross, that is is telling God, or confessing to God, that we acknowledge our mistakes. The apostle Paul had every right to complain. He was in prison, bound in chains, for sharing the good news about Jesus and what He did on the cross for us. While Paul was in prison he wrote a letter to a church in a city named Philippi. You would think that because Paul was in prison his letter would have been very sad and he would have been complaining. But he wasn't! Not at all! Quite the opposite actually! His letter that he wrote while he was in prison was all about the joy he had! Why would Paul be full of joy in prison? Because of Jesus! That's why! No matter what we face in our life, no matter what happens, we have JOY because of who Jesus is and what He did for us! Lord, help us to always find your joy in each day!
