Haunted Michigan is a podcast about the creepier, scarier, spookier side of the mitten state. Join your host, Meltdown, throughout October as he speaks with some of the top paranormal people in Michigan.
The Whitney, Eloise, Jackson prison, the Bruce mansion, and many, many more. Michigan has a lot to offer when it comes to paranormal activity, as you’ll discover from some of the people who have experienced it the most.

Actor/Stuntman Douglas Tait came by the RIFF studios before his event at Eloise Asylum this weekend to meet fans, take pictures, and sign autographs. He brought along his lovely wife, who is also in the business, Isabel Cueva.
Doug also stars in the Jack Links commercials as BigFoot. I asked him if he tells anyone about that when the spots air while he's in public. I tell everybody. I love people to know that I play that character because I love the character. So it's so cool that, any time anybody talks about it, they just said, I. Man, those are my favorite commercials because commercials are boring and they really provide entertaining ones"
Doug also directed the movie Angel Baby, which his wife stars in. "Yes, it’s a thriller that’s available on Apple, Vudu, Google, YouTube—pretty much everywhere except Netflix, but we’re working on it! I star in it alongside Rebecca De Mornay and Daniel Roebuck. Doug directed it, which was his debut."
Doug told me about his appearance at Eloise on September 28th. "Tomorrow night, I’ll be signing autographs and doing a special Jason photo op in costume from Freddy vs. Jason between 7 and 8 p.m. After that, I’ll be signing for the rest of the night. We’ll also have movie posters and headshots, so come on down!"
He loved playing Jason. "Oh, it was amazing. I’ve been a huge Halloween fan all my life, so putting on that mask for the first time was surreal. It was like a dream come true."
He plays scary characters on the big screen, but he also loves the paranormal. "I love haunted houses and anything paranormal. When I was asked to be part of Eloise Asylum’s opening night, I was all in. I’ve read up on the history, and I’m really excited to experience it firsthand."
Before we started recording the interview, I had Doug and Isabel listen to the screams we caught on video at Eloise a month ago. He loved it! "That was wild! And the fact that you’re skeptical but still can’t explain what you caught makes it even more intriguing. I can’t wait to check it out tonight."

Doug has lots of stuff coming up, some of which he couldn't talk about just yet. "I’ve got more Jack Link’s Sasquatch commercials coming up, and I recently shot a Halloween-themed commercial for Uber Eats. I’m always working on something—indie horror films, commercials—there’s always something in the pipeline."

Terri contacted me a few weeks back, then I ended up meeting her at a party. She agreed to come on Haunted Michigan and talk about her experiences with the paranormal. She started by talking about her group and how long she's been investigating.

Terri Houlton: The group has been around for a while, with many experienced members. I’ve been with them since 2019. We investigate everything from residential locations to museums and libraries—places like Eloise, for example. My first ghost-hunting experience was actually in the basement of Eloise in 2019, and it was a wild night.

Meltdown: We’ll definitely get into that in a bit. You’ve been doing this for five years, so did you start the group, or did you join it?
Terri Houlton: I joined the group. There are people in the group who have been doing this much longer, and I’ve learned a lot from them.
Meltdown: I’m sure. So, where are you based? Southeast Michigan?
Terri Houlton: Yep, southeast Michigan.
Meltdown: You mentioned Eloise earlier. How many times have you investigated there?
Terri Houlton: Oh wow, probably around 40 or 50 times over the past couple of years.
Meltdown: No kidding! I assume you’ve done investigations with both large and small groups?
Terri Houlton: Yes, I’ve done both. I was even a tour guide there for a couple of years.

Meltdown: As a tour guide, you must have experienced a lot. I saw a Facebook live session from there recently, where they talked about hearing footsteps. What was your experience like at Eloise?
Terri Houlton: Definitely. One of the first things I heard during my first investigation was footsteps in high heels. It was in the basement, and everyone else was outside taking a break. Suddenly, I heard these distinct steps in the hallway, and I wasn't near a staircase or anything like that. I looked at my companion, and she confirmed she heard it too. That same night, I was pushed into a closet, discovered a portal, and even saw a woman floating over a chair.
Meltdown: A portal? A floating woman? You can’t just breeze past that! Tell me more.
Terri Houlton: (laughs) Yeah, so I was using my dowsing rods in a small janitor's closet, and suddenly my rod started spinning, which signifies a portal. I pointed it out to the others, and they confirmed what they were seeing. That same night, a gentleman took pictures of the floating woman, and while I couldn’t capture anything on my phone, I took a picture of his screen. There seemed to be a special connection between him and the entity because when we handed him the dowsing rods, they started answering his questions.
Meltdown: I’ve always been a bit skeptical about dowsing rods, but maybe I’ll have to try them myself. They seem to work well for you.
Terri Houlton: They do. I’ve seen them work for others too, and I’d be happy to teach you how to use them.
Meltdown: I might take you up on that. So, besides Eloise, what other places in Michigan have you investigated?
Terri Houlton: Our group investigates homes, museums, and historical sites. We’ve had paranormal activity at places like the Wayne Museum and the Westland Historical Society’s Octagon House. There’s even a small Eloise museum that’s quite active.
Meltdown: Interesting. Have you ventured outside of Michigan?
Terri Houlton: Yes, one of the most intense weekends was in New York, where we investigated Wildwood Sanatorium and the Hinsdale House. That’s where I saw my first shadow figure, and we encountered strange activity with mirrors. My husband took a picture where his eyes were looking in a different direction than where he was actually looking—it was surreal.
Meltdown: That sounds wild! Where is the Hinsdale House?
Terri Houlton: It’s in Hinsdale, New York, in a very remote, wooded area. The house is built on Seneca Indian land, and I experienced drumming sounds while exploring the area.
Meltdown: Wow! Let’s shift back to Michigan for a second. You mentioned earlier that you were shoved into a closet at Eloise. Can you explain what happened?
Terri Houlton: That was my first night at Eloise. I was in the basement in what used to be the pottery closet. Suddenly, I felt a force push me into the closet, and I stumbled forward, even though I was walking very slowly. There were others around, and they witnessed it too.
Meltdown: Was that the most intense physical contact you’ve experienced?
Terri Houlton: Yes, definitely the hardest. I’ve felt touches before, but this one was stronger.
Meltdown: And no scratches or anything like that?
Terri Houlton: No scratches, but I’ve had moments where the bed I was sitting on kept shaking violently.
Meltdown: That must have been intense! Did you stay on the bed while it was shaking?
Terri Houlton: Yes, I stayed on it. I asked the person next to me if they were shaking the bed, but they weren’t. It was definitely something paranormal.
Meltdown: I was at Eloise in August, and I still can’t explain the screams I heard there. Have you experienced anything like that?
Terri Houlton: Yes, we’ve captured strange sounds on video, including metal-on-metal noises from an empty closet. I asked around, but no one was near the area at the time. It’s a very active place.
Meltdown: What about investigations in other parts of Michigan or even the U.P.?
Terri Houlton: I haven’t been up to the U.P. yet, but I’d love to go. I’ve done investigations in Ohio, like an old sheriff’s station where we encountered shadow figures and lots of activity.

Meltdown: When you investigate homes, do families reach out to you directly?
Terri Houlton: Yes, families reach out to us. One of the more intense cases involved a young boy who seemed possessed. There were scratches on the walls and strange things happening. At one point, this two-year-old pulled a grilling fork from under the couch—something he shouldn’t have been able to reach.
Meltdown: That’s crazy! Did you hear from the family after the investigation?
Terri Houlton: We did, but I think they were trying to stir up activity on their own without following the proper precautions, which made things worse.
Meltdown: That’s intense. So, what other places have you investigated?
Terri Houlton: I hosted an investigation at a downtown church and schoolhouse, which had a lot of activity. I’ve also spent time at the Monroe Horror Museum, which has a ton of paranormal energy, especially with all the Ouija boards they have now.
Meltdown: I know Nate at the Monroe Horror Museum, and I’ve heard about some of the wild things happening there. Monroe seems like a hotspot for paranormal activity, right?
Terri Houlton: Absolutely! There was another house in Monroe that had so much going on, we didn’t even get to the bottom of it.
Meltdown: So, who else is in your group?
Terri Houlton: Brenda, Ryan, Tim, and Jeff have all been with the group for a while. We also have a psychic named Carrie who lives in Indiana.
Meltdown: You mentioned that you’ll be working at the haunted house at Eloise this season. How’s that going?
Terri Houlton: I’m in charge of the “scary hair” for the characters, so it’s a lot of fun. It’s always busy during haunt season.
Meltdown: That sounds awesome! Terri, thanks so much for your time. Maybe I’ll see you at Eloise, and I’d love to have you back with some of your team members.
Terri Houlton: I’d love that! I’ll send you some pictures too.

Rusty Jones of the Central Michigan Paranormal Investigations (CMPI) is my guest on this episode of Haunted Michigan. As I post this it's Friday, September 13th, a perfect day for the paranormal.
A Particularly Haunted Central Michigan Location
Rusty spoke to me about how his journey started. "I founded Central Michigan Paranormal Investigators back in 1988 after reading a book on paranormal phenomena and visiting some local sites. That got me hooked, and I’ve been doing this ever since."
Rusty spoke to some of the most active places they've investigated, and it's somewhere I've heard people bring up before. "One of the most active places we investigate regularly is the Michigan Theater in Jackson. We go there annually, and every visit brings a new experience. It’s an incredibly active site." He went on "One time, we had a guest investigator who heard me call his name from the balcony while he was near the stage. The strange thing? I was outside the building at the time. These doppelganger effects are common there, along with physical sensations like shirt tugs and footsteps in empty areas."
Another location that CMIP found active was the old Jackson prison. "We’ve done several investigations at the old prison in Jackson, which was Michigan’s first maximum-security prison, dating back to the 1800s. There’s a lot of history there, including stories of wardens mistreating inmates, which has left some residual energy. We've also investigated several businesses in Lansing, and we’re returning to the USS Edson in Bay City this weekend for another overnight investigation. (more on that later) One of the wardens in the early 1900s was notorious for his cruelty. In one story, he hosed down a prisoner in freezing temperatures, then left him naked in his cell to die. The warden himself ended up being imprisoned later and was found hanged in the same facility."
Rusty passed along one of his craziest experiences with the paranormal. "One time in Lansing, I was investigating a house where only the kids had seen the entity. I made a provocative remark, trying to stir activity, and right as I did, something told me to move my head. As I did, a frying pan flew across the room and hit the wall behind me. That’s the last time I tried provoking spirits!"
Full-Body Apparitions and Visual Encounters
I asked him if he's ever seen a full-body apparition. "I’ve only seen two in all my years of investigating. The first was at a lighthouse in Escanaba. A woman walked right out the door, solid as you and me. She walked toward the lighthouse and started ascending the stairs, but by the time she reached the top, she had faded until she was completely transparent.
Now, back to the USS Edson. He visited over the weekend and told me there was a lot of activity in their overnight stay. " It was very eventful, to say the least. It started almost as soon as we got on the ship and continued throughout the night." He went on "Well, as soon as we got on the ship, we started hearing footsteps on the deck above us while we were in the galley getting set up. We knew for a fact that we were the only ones on the ship at that point. We sent someone up to check, but no one was there. And that was only about 6:05 p.m., with the sun still out."
He said they split up into two groups. The other group was experiencing a lot of happenings. "After about 45 minutes, they came back and said they couldn’t go back down there because it felt really evil, and they started hearing voices. So, naturally, I said, "Let’s all go down there and see for ourselves!" The atmosphere in the back of the ship felt completely different from the front. It was really draining."
Rusty said there's a place on the boat that puts out a lot of energy. "It’s different every time. The first two visits, we had some interesting experiences in the ship’s woodworking shop, near what’s called the "suicide hatch." A sailor, who received a "Dear John" letter while at sea, isolated himself down there to clear his head. He didn’t realize the hatch cut off airflow, and by the time he tried to open it, it was too late. He suffocated, which is why it’s called the suicide hatch."

A couple of months ago I was fortunate enough to get a chance to check out Eloise Insane Asylum in Westland, Michigan. It was an investigation with Darren McCarty, as we also did one of the escape rooms. That was so much fun!
While I was there, I had the chance to meet Jenny Hand, Danielle Boura, and Lauren Banach, who acted as our tour guide on that first visit. I thought it would be fun to talk with all three of these ladies about the history of the building, sightings, and paranormal activity that's taken place there.
The History Of Eloise
In our conversation, Lauren talked about the history of Eloise. "Eloise established the hospital and infirmary in 1839." That's almost 200 years of spirits and souls that have gone through the famed building, and not all of it was happy.
Personal Paranormal Experences At Eloise
Each of them spoke of personal experiences they've had in Eloise. From the "hat man" that roams the halls, which doesn't have a name according to Jenny "I don't think he has a name, to be honest. Hat men are not typically known spirits that were once living." She said they're known as "watchers' and seem to appear in places that have had a lot of traumatic experiences in the past.
There's also the "creeper". Danielle said she ran across him while working in the basement. She said it felt like a twenty-minute episode, but probably only lasted thirty seconds. She also spoke of something that was stalking her and other people as recently as a few weeks ago.
Lauren had this to say. "I was alone on (floor) 5, did not realize I was alone, and started hearing footsteps." She said that the steps got louder and more raucous. That freaked her out, as she explained in the interview.

Great to talk to Michigan filmmaker Doug Schulze about all things horror movies, and his latest movie called "Thorns'. You can watch the trailer for the movie below.
Doug is a founder of the Motion Picture Institute, which he compares to the Specs Howard of filming schools. I also included a link to that school below.
He said his love for 80s horror films was the influence for "Thorns". He says the movie is the "thinking mans Terrifier" LOL. The movie stars Doug Bradley, who horror fans will know right away from the "Hellraiser" series as Pinhead. "His manager actually recommended him, so he brought him the script and he loved it."
The movie marries religion and sci-fi. Doug explained the movie to me without giving too much away. The movie debuts at the Emagine Theater in Royal Oak on February 17th with a red carpet premiere, which will include Doug Bradley there in person. Look for it to hit other theaters the following weekend on starting February 23rd.
We talked about movies he loves. He said he's a big Stanley Kubrick fan, and he mentioned others movies we should check out. As far as Rob Zombie movies are concerned, Doug had some nice things to say...we'll say. I'll let you make up your own mind.
During the conversation, Doug admitted that the series "Stranger Things" was a big motivator for "Thorns". He told me about the writing process he goes through developing a film. He talked about having a beginning, middle, and an end, and then expanding it from there.
Of course, I had to ask Doug if he ever had a paranormal experience. He didn't hesitate and recalled a story of a film he was trying to make while the soundman kept picking up screams in the background. That happened up near Saginaw. Great story! He finally shared a story with The Stooges' Ron Asheton. He was in one of Doug's movies years ago. The story he told about what happened in Ron's house was pure rock and roll. LOL

All I can say is, WOW! What an episode of Haunted Michigan. Retired Rev, Gerry Hunter joins me to discuss all things paranormal. Ironically enough, he has a book series titled, Haunted Michigan, so he's the perfect guest!
We start by talking about his experience. He didn't get into this recently, he's had a fascination with this kind of stuff since he was a child, living in an actual haunted house in Brooklyn, Michigan. He tells me about things he's seen there, and about his upbringing in that old farmhouse.
He tells me about an experience he had at the Henderson Castle in Kalamazoo. I've stayed there and nothing happened that I noticed, but that place is crazy.
Gerry will be hosting a Ghost Story Dinner on Monday, October 16th at the South Lyon Hotel. Let's just say that he's no stranger to events that have taken place there. He told me a story that literally had the hair on my arms standing up. It may be one of the craziest stories I've heard doing this series, and there are pictures to back it up!
Gerry also talked about his investigation of the Seul Choix lighthouse in Gulliver, in the U.P.. Wait until you hear the story of what he heard there while climbing the stairs at that location!

On this installment of Haunted Michigan, I speak with Ed K. and Marc O. from the Haunt Investigators Of Michigan.
We started out by talking about some of their paranormal experiences as a child in southeast Michigan. They formed their group in 2012 while on a trip to Salem, Massachusetts.
As far as local places they've investigated the most, they said it was The Whitney. They've been there several times. Marc told the story of a presentation they did, where they saw a dark shadow mass standing in a room, and voice responding to a question they asked.
Ed told a crazy story of an encounter he had there in carriage house, sitting at Grace's table. He said this particular interaction last up to five minutes! They explained the story of Grace's table, which is really interesting.
They also told some great stories surrounding Fort Wayne down in Detroit. "Lot of class A EVP's, I've had women get their hair pulled" is what Ed said about some of the evidence they've gathered there. Marc tells the story of an amazing encounter in the halls of the schoolhouse on the grounds. He tells the story of his X-Cam falling off a table, which couldn't have been possible from where the camera was positioned. They tried recreating the occurrence, but to no avail. "It is by far and away the creepiest building in al of Fort Wayne" Ed said of the schoolhouse. He went on to tell another story of a black mass he chased around a room there.
How about local celebrities they've investigated with? Well, a non-believing hockey Hall of Famer did just that with them. He might be a believer now.
They also brought up Eloise in Westland. This place gets brought up a lot. Marc talked of hearing slamming doors, and more.

Todd Bonner and Jeff Adkins from Detroit Paranormal Expeditions join me on Haunted Michigan. Since I met them last year on their debut episode of the show, we've become good friends. When I asked them to come back, they didn't hesitate.
They told me about their upcoming project on PBS, which drops next year. It's about the paranormal, but also focuses on history of places around Michigan. They eluded to some of the things that happened, but kept it close to the vest.
One of the places they "discovered" was the Frederick Sterns house in downtown Detroit. 16,000 square feet of exploration. They have some cool events going on at that house coming up. I think I'll be there on Friday, October 13th to see this home. They tell me about an event they're doing in Monroe at the Museum of Horror as well.
One of the places they've investigated a lot was the Bruce Mansion in Brown City. They talked about a crazy experience at that home. "We saw a shadow figure in the parlour there." They said there were several people there to see it. They as mentioned "reflector" like eyes they've seen in that historic house.
Jeff spoke to a brush with the paranormal recently in Portland, Michigan. "You don't see things visual too often."
They talked about some of the old buildings they'd like to investigate around Michigan. Flanagan's Pub in Grand Rapids and the New Hudson Inn are a couple places they mentioned.
As far as the places they've done the most investigating at, Eloise in Westland came right to their minds. Jeff talked about an experience there. "I heard a woman talking....just babbling, complete gibberish." As he walked down to see what happened....well, you'll have to listen. Todd talks about running out of that building, frightened. They said the first night they were there was the most active.
They also talked about have little rocks thrown at them at a Detroit location. That was nuts!
Speaking of actual things moving on their own, they talked about an unreal story at a location up north. Todd spoke to getting touched at a place in Wyandotte,
Getting out of Michigan, they went down to the house where the movie of the real-life haunting took place - A Savannah Haunting. They said that place is really uneasy. Todd was physically pushed, Jeff ended up in the hospital.
Stories of paranormal things happening at Greenfield Village? They've heard some stories. Also audio captured at the Whitney downtown. Lots of people talk about that place.

Haunted Michigan is primarily about about the paranormal aspect of our state, but I thought I'd veer off the road a little bit and bring in Ed Terebus from EREBUS - a Guinness Book Record holding haunted house in downtown Pontiac, Michigan.
Ed was great to talk to. He's the perfect guy to talk about this place. He has so much passion for what he does, and it shows. Ed gave me the backstory of how him and his brother started out, right up until the present day. He spoke to how they design and change parts of the house.
He also talks about the Making of the Monster. A chance to walk Erebus during the day to see how it works. That sounds very interesting.
He told me about traveling the country to see other Haunted House to share ideas and thoughts.
Ok, as far as Erebus is concerned, he talked about a boiler room where a man died. He said that room has remained untouched. He talked about paranormal investigations that have taken place there. Everything from flashlights going on and off, to voice recordings of someone speaking his name! He talked about experiencing other paranormal activities in and around the building.
He's revamped and redone some parts of the attraction. They'll also have a Oddities and Curiosities Museum. That features funeral parlor stuff, dinosaur bones, vintage Halloween masks and TONS more.

There's a lot of scary stuff gong on down in Monroe, Michigan. Nate Thompson joins me to speak about his Museum of Horror, but also something new he's doing this summer: Haunted Walking Tours!
We discussed his museum, and some of the things that he has in it. Including one item that he was given that is really creepy. He talks about the "Red Room", and more.
Nate also talks about the tours, how long they take and some of the locations they go to. He spoke to getting the idea and putting it into motion. The tour guide is a guy named Zach, and Nate calls him one of the best in the game. He gives me some of the insight on a couple of the spots the Haunted Walking Tour makes. Graveyards, water fountains and more. And, yes, people have experienced some paranormal things on these walks as Nate explained.

Dave, John And Jess from Flyer Paranormal came by the radio station to tell me everything they've learned about the Orson Starr House in Royal Oak. They've been investigating this home for a few years, and the tales they tell are exactly what you'd think would come out of a home well over a hundred years old. From noises, dark shadows, to footsteps on the roof and much more.
They tell me the history of the home, the craziest experiences they've had there, and some eerie stories from the house.
They also tell some great stories of other paranormal activity around other parts of the state as well. One story that sticks out to me is one John told about an antique shop in Caro, Michigan. A place I'm definitely going to visit.

It's been a while since I've done a Haunted Michigan episode, and when I was contacted to talk with Steve Shippy about Michigan's Hell House, I jumped at the chance. This house is crazy!
He tells me the history of the house, what makes it so energized with spirits, things he's witnessed and a ton more. This is just an appetizer for this Sunday's special on the Travel Channel at 9pm.

Tim Ellis and Brad Blair join me first to wrap up the Haunted Michigan series, season 1. They're the only guests I've had from the Upper Peninsula, although others have talked about places and experiences up there. They're part of the Upper Peninsula Paranormal Research Society. They talk about Bigfoot sightings, some cryptid talk, and other crazy stories. Oh, little girl's dolls...also creepy! They've written books about haunted places in the U.P., and they have excellent stories to back them up.
Next, it's Jessica Krutell from Mystic Mitten, a female led Paranormal group down here in the Detroit area. Not only did Jessica have some great stories about being touched on the Michigan Theater stage in Jackson, Mi., and other stories, something crazy happened while we were talking! Oh, all while she spoke with me in her "oddities" room....that was crazy enough.
Finally, it's Madrox and Monoxide from the local group Twiztid. I've known these guys for years and thought of them right away, not knowing anything about possible experiences they've had. They did not disappoint! The weird thing about both of their stories is that they took place outside of the traditional "haunting" season.
What a great way to wrap up season 1 of Haunted Michigan.
I'd like to thank every single guest that made this project happen. I didn't know what I was getting into or how it would shake out when we started. What I got were people who were passionate about this subject, very willing to share their experiences, great story-telling, and just overall nice people. I did not conduct one interview that I didn't use. Each guest was as good as the next! Thank You all!

Author Roxanne Rhoads is up first. She's written a couple books and has a lot of scary stories to tell. She talks about the house she grew up in, as well as the house she currently lives in, which she says is haunted. Her specialty in Michigan is in the Flint area. She had some wild tales from Flint, including talking about the Stockton house, a place she said she'd hear stuff, even though she'd be the only one in the building. She also told of a terrifying story that took place in her own bedroom! It was insane!!! Roxanne had some GREAT stories to put you on the edge of your seat.
To wrap up this week's episode, it's Mark and Terri from Marter Paranormal. Mark says some of the most haunted places in the area include, Ypsilanti, Fort Wayne, Willis and others. Terri agreed, and told of scary places like the Michigan Theater in Jackson, USS Edson, and Traverse City. They locked in on the Willis area and told me some crazy stories from that part of Michigan, including the Willis Inn. The story of a young boy names "Larry" will give you the creeps. That's just for starters......

Welcome to another episode of Haunted Michigan.
Up first, it's Jeff Adkins and Todd Bonner from Detroit Paranormal Expeditions. These guys are well known throughout the state, and the paranormal community. They had some great, ghostly stories to tell. Jeff told of a story where the EVP (electronic voice phenomena) was so strong, Todd threw his headphones off. The Birmingham Theater, Beaver Island lighthouse, The Detroit 6th precinct, Eloise, the Iron County Historical society and other haunted places in Michigan are topics of conversation. What they saw in the Bruce Mansion will make the hair on your arms stand up. Insane! Doors opening and closing, items thrown across the room, spirits following the guys home, and more.
Then, it's Janet, Cassie, Carol and Whitney from the Phenomena Paranormal Investigators out of Westland, Mi. They talk about Eloise, as well. The Bathe Township school disaster site, and much more. They live in the area of Eloise, so they tell me about some creepy goings on around that place, as well as Janet's house. They talk about being touched, talking to spirits, shadow figures, spirit boxes and lots more!

Welcome to episode 2 of Haunted Michigan. All throughout the month of October we'll debut new episodes every Monday. This episode features two completely different, but very interesting conversations.
John E.L. Tenny and Jessica Knapik are first. They host a podcast called What's Up Weirdo, and are heavy into the paranormal and other strange things. We talk about Cryptids like Moth Man, Dog Man and others. Jessica and John tell us about "Melon Heads", UFOs, and lectures they have coming up. They both tell me where the scariest areas in Michigan are, as well as the scariest buildings. The Whitney comes up, again, as they tell me some crazy stories about that place. Oh, and body pits....yeah, and SO MUCH more. These guys are vast in their knowledge and passion of the paranormal.
Brian Danhausen rounds out the show, in a completely different direction. Like many guests I've talked with, Brian has also been touched by spirits. He paints Tarot cards, he's written books, and lots more. He tells me about some very haunted places in Michigan, including a local firehouse. I'm just gonna say this......he has some wild stories to tell! Plus, we talk a little about his famous son. This is a very interesting conversation.

Welcome to Episode 1 of Haunted Michigan. What a way to kick off this series....with two authors and one ghost hunter. There are many tales told, and all based here in Michigan.
We start off with author, Kat Tedsen. She was the first person I interviewed for this project, and she was fantastic! She's been all throughout the state and told some great stories about Eliose, The Whitney, Sam's Joint, being touched, scratched, and more. She talks about walking through the tunnels of Jackson prison, even a private residence that had some big activity in it with a spirit attached to the home owner. One of the most intense stories she told was about an incident that happened at an Italian hall in the U.P.
Up next, it's Heather Childers from Chicks & Spirits. Another really good storyteller. She told me how C&S started, what they do, and how she got her start. She then went on to tell a crazy story about an experience she had at Stimson hospital in Eaton, Mi. Let's just say, the lights had to be turned on. She also explains some of the equipment they use and how they help in their experiences, too. She did cheat a little bit and told a terrifying tale that happened to her in another state.

Author Nicole Beauchamp rounds out the first episode. She's also been doing this for a long time, with two books on her resume and another one coming. She tells a crazy story about an instance that took place at The Whitney downtown. This will not be the last mention of that place in this series. She tells a horrifying story from a graveyard in a Detroit cemetery. Very creepy.....that's just for starters.
