With Thanksgiving upon us, Amy and Jonathan discuss the holiday, some state convention recaps, a rather large Thanksgiving celebration back in 1981, and one of the best scenes in West Wing lore.
While state convention recaps dominate this episode, there is much to celebrate with the opening of a new Send Relief center in Puerto Rico as well as the Jesus Film being translated into its 2,000th language by a Southern Baptist seminary student.
New research from Lifeway shows that while 100% of churches have reopened following the pandemic, only about 85% of attendees have returned. Also, state conventions are happening across the country and attendance at the meetings is on the rise.
Broadmoor Baptist Church in Jackson, Miss., issued a response to a decades-old report of sexual abuse at the church. In doing so, they may have become the model for how to properly report older cases.
Southwestern Seminary announced they had begun cutting staff in efforts to reduce seminary operating expenses by 10%. Also, winners of the annual Dove Awards were announced.

A new study from Lifeway Research shows that while the cost of living has increased dramatically in the past few years, pay for Southern Baptist pastors has not followed suit. Also, a kickoff event was held this past week in New Orleans in preparation for the 2023 Annual Meeting and Pastors' Conference.
The SBC Executive Committee announced last week that the United States Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the Convention regarding sexual abuse. Also, Baylor and the BGCT announced this week that they are reevaluating their relationship.
SBC president Bart Barber named the full Abuse Reform Implementation Task Force. Also, a pair of seminaries announced an increase in missionary scholarships to the schools.
