It's a blessing in disguise, but it does ask you to reinvent yourself.
Hello love,
Welcome to this month’s Soulful Biz Club coaching session. If you’re new around here, this is our monthly live where members bring their questions, and I show up with honest answers.
This month, it’s a question that I think almost every one of us will face at some point.
On…
Creativity is really a medicine when we disconnect it from any outcome.
Welcome to the Whispers of Inner PowerInterview Series!
Honest conversations with women reshaping the way we think about business & sensitivity.
Today I’m joined by Marie-Louise Cee. Marie-Louise is an artist, a writer, and a mindfulness educator running Fiercely Human, a Substack publication at the intersection of philosophy, mindfulness, and creative practice.
I briefly met Marie-Louise in a course by Susannah Conway a few years ago, and I have loved, loved, loved(!) her content here on Substack, blissfully unaware that it was actually her.
It was Claire Venus ✨ who suggested she’d be a great guest for my interview series here, but I’m so bad with remembering names (even celebrities), so it’s only when we started chatting that I realised that 1) we were both French speakers and 2) she knew exactly who I was despite suffering from brain fog that day, but I was the one who needed the reminder. So embarrassing for me! 🙈
Anyways…
In this conversation we talked about:
Why she’s completing her training in the Insight Meditation tradition (studying under Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach) and how that formal daily practice has been holding her.
The idea — borrowed from Viktor Frankl — of expanding the space between stimulus and response, and how creativity gives you that same buffer
Her “first aid kit for creativity” that I immediately borrowed. (I still have to buy some items!)
Why creativity only works as medicine when it’s disconnected from outcome.
Her free 4-week course, Hope in Practice, and the multimedia book on hope she’s currently writing
You can find Marie-Louise at marielouisecee.com and on Substack at Fiercely Human.
Creativity brings you agency. It brings it from your creative practice into your life, feeling capable and feeling kind to ourselves.
What I love about this conversation is the honesty about comfort versus discomfort. Marie-Louise names something many of us feel without always being able to name it: it's easier to reach for a sure thing, like a coffee or a scroll, than for something as uncontrolled as a blank page.
And of course, her purse kit: a tiny journal, a sketchbook, a few art supplies, carried everywhere, ready for any quick five-minute-practice. It's such a small, easy thing, and in a way it captures the entire philosophy of this episode.

Just walk imperfectly forward. You'll figure it out at some point.
Welcome to the Whispers of Inner Power Interview Series!
Honest conversations with women reshaping the way we think about business & sensitivity.
Today I’m joined by Ruth Cooper-Dickson — creator of Thrivership Coaching™, award-winning positive psychology practitioner, trauma-informed coach, breathwork leader, broadcaster, and author-in-progress of a book on post-traumatic growth.
I’ve been wanting to have this conversation for a while. Ruth and I had been circling each other online and when I read her latest Substack post on grief, I knew the time was right — and I asked her if she’d be willing to orient our conversation around that topic instead of what we’d originally planned. She said yes without hesitation. What followed was one of the most honest, tender conversations I’ve had on this series.
In this conversation we talked about:
Why grief isn’t something to be healed and “done with” — and the misconception that keeps so many of us stuck
What unprocessed grief actually looks like from the outside (hint: it often looks like working harder, controlling more, never being able to rest)
The moment Ruth experienced her own very public unravelling — and what it took to rebuild from the ashes
Why the 6-12 month mark is often the hardest — when everyone else has moved on and you’re still in it
The little-known concept of the Death Cafe, and why Ruth leaves them feeling more alive than ever
What breathwork can do for grief that talking sometimes can’t
The “bare minimum” framework for staying afloat in your business when falling apart isn’t an option
Why the fact that you haven’t unpacked something doesn’t mean it isn’t already influencing you
My dad died 41 years ago this year and I think about my dad every day. When I see a magpie I think my dad.
What I loved most about this conversation is a moment near the end where I told Ruth that after my dad died, I spent two weeks on the floor.
Meditation in my ears, talking to my dad and angels, three to four hours a day, my kids watching TV and me just... there.
And then work picked me up.
I've never said that out loud like that before, and I don’t think I had realised up to that point the role that my business had in my recovery — I’m not sure it’s the right word but I can’t find a more fitting one. I think I carried a bit of shame around it, that I hadn’t done “grief” properly. As if going headfirst into such a big life project was wrong and I should have just let myself feel it all rather than trying to control my life.
But Ruth didn’t judge me. She smiled and said: I love that. If it's healthy and it works, don't question it. And just like that, it reframed this shame of not doing things right into what it actually was: Resilience. Surviving. Living.
Finally, if you’re going through grief, I want to tell you that although it’s a very personal and tender path, you are not alone. Don’t ever hesitate to reach out when you need a listening ear or a compassionate moment, even in silence.
Sending you love.
Jessica

How you're interpreted is not your job.
Welcome to the Whispers of Inner Power Interview Series!
Honest conversations with women reshaping the way we think about business & sensitivity.
Today I’m joined by the Liz Wilcox, aka the Fresh Princess of Email Marketing. Liz is an email strategist, keynote speaker, and membership owner with over 4,000 members who has built three successful businesses, including one she grew while living in an RV with her toddler.
I first found Liz through her EMM membership, where I discovered her playful approach to email marketing, and I’d been dying to ask her about the side of her story that doesn’t usually come up: what’s it actually like, to be seen, judged, and misunderstood when you’re that successful.
I hope you get so successful that you get the hate that I have, because that means you are seen by millions and millions of people.
In this conversation we talked about:
Why “no plan B” was actually a great motivator to building her first business from a stationary RV with a toddler and no internet on her phone
The fact that she was completely mute until age seven, and how a piece of advice from her mom in seventh grade started her on the long road to finding her voice
What it really teaches you about visibility to be on one of the most-watched shows in the world, edited into a character you didn’t choose, and getting death threats over it years later
Her actual strategy for handling criticism (and sometimes turning that into bigger sales opportunities)
What I loved most about this conversation is the image Liz gave us near the end, to have shields in place rather than walls. Getting more visible and more successful will make you more prone to receive judgment, criticism and angry messages. Liz doesn’t tell you to grow a thicker skin and hide your sensitivity away. She doesn’t ignore or pretend that things don’t get to her, but she makes the conscious choice to clarify rather than justify.
As a highly sensitive person myself, I found it very empowering, and I’m sure you will too.
I need to be like I’m rubber, you're glue, bounce off me, stick to you. Y'all remember that from the playground days?

You don’t have to toughen up to deal with the world. You are absolutely exactly who you are supposed to be.
Welcome to the Whispers of Inner PowerInterview Series!
Honest conversations with women reshaping the way we think about business & sensitivity.
Hello love,
Today on the Whispers of Inner Power Interview Series, I’m joined by Gabrielle Treanor — Gen X ADHD coach, author, and the voice behind The Quiet ADHD Club on Substack.
Gabrielle supports introverted, sensitive women who are discovering their ADHD later in life — whether they have a formal diagnosis or they suspect their neuro-divergence.
When she got her diagnosis at 48, she closed her laptop and thought, " Where all my quiet ADHD women? That question was the start of everything she created after.
There is absolutely nothing categorically wrong with you in any way, shape or form.
I was introduced to Gabrielle by Claire Venus, who was on the series a few weeks ago (watch it here), and the moment I read about her work I knew this is exactly what the women in my world need to hear.
In this conversation we talked about:
Why so many women (like me) dismiss the idea that they could have ADHD.
The two stereotypes that keep getting in the way of getting a proper diagnosis.
How a late diagnosis explains your present but also rewrites your past.
How calm on the outside doesn’t mean calm on the inside.
Why sensitivity is not a flaw — and why you don’t have to toughen up
What I loved about this interview is how easily Gabrielle reframed the shame that women like me often carry around being multi-passionate or around changing careers often — something that I’m always a bit shy about, especially in a world that keeps repeating that you have to pick one thing, stay in your lane, and stay consistent.
In just one sentence, she managed to make me see how valuable and interesting my journey has been, and that I should be proud. I’m sure this is something many of you need to hear too.
About Gabrielle Treanor.
You can find Gabrielle on The Haven, and inside The Quiet ADHD Club, her membership for introverted sensitive women with ADHD: a low-pressure, completely optional space where there’s no falling behind and no keeping up.
Also visit her website, listen to her podcast, and read her book The 1% Wellness Experiment.
And if you’re in the UK, Gabrielle is organising the very first UK book festival around well-being! Details about the Better Read Book Festival right here.

In this episode, I share the behind-the-scenes of a real shift that happened in my business this month, and how it started with a meltdown, a conversation with my husband, and one simple question: what do you need?
I talk about why I spent 18 months pouring energy into email marketing when 100% of my clients have always come from relationships. About being “on” 90 hours a week and what that did to my body. About letting go of Preply — a stream of income that felt safe but was slowly draining me — and what happened three days later.
This is an episode about the security blankets we hold onto out of fear, the strategies we stay loyal to long past their expiry date, and what becomes possible when we finally listen to what our body has been saying all along.
I also share what changed on Substack, how my income grew from 2007€ in April to 2525€ in May, and why June is already my best month ever.
This episode is part of the Soulful Biz Club, hosted partly here on Substack, where I share deeper guidance, personal reflections, and the real behind-the-scenes of building a soulful business.

Honest conversations with women reshaping the way we think about business & sensitivity.
No matter what you're feeling right now, it matters. And you're not making it up.
Today, I’m speaking with Kathleen 🦋, the voice behind Less Noise, More You here on Substack.
Kathleen is an HSP practitioner: she helps highly sensitive women navigate burnout, reconnect with themselves, and stop outsourcing their own inner knowing to everyone else around them.
She came to this work the way so many of us do: by living it first.
I’ve been following Kathleen on Substack for a while now, and honestly, every time she posts, I breathe better. This live interview has been such a pleasure and her energy is so soothing, I know you’ll love it.
Enjoy!
What if you actually did as little as possible?
During this rich conversation, Kathleen and I talked about many aspects of what it means to be highly sensitive and what burnout truly feels like. Here are some of the points we touched on:
Her journey from corporate burnout to HSP practitioner.
Why being highly sensitive is a wiring.
The moment her body finally said no.
IFS, inner parts, and why HSPs tend to have so many of them.
How to start the journey back to yourself.

You can find her on Substack at Less Noise, More You, and on her website resetwithkathleen.ca
If you're feeling like something is off, even if you can't name it yet, she might be exactly the kind of person you need in your corner.

I am proud of my resolve to keep going even when there is not a lot of evidence on the outside that this is working - Rachel Andreoli
Today, I’m speaking with Rachel Andreoli, who found her business idea in a text message: a picture of 27 of her neighbours at a trivia night she wasn’t even attending.
Getting that picture made her realise what she was actually naturally talented at. Now she teaches how to build what she calls Social infrastructure: the kind of network that creates real options in life and work.
This interview is in two parts: the video above and the written one below. Enjoy!
Hi Rachel!
Tell us a bit about you and the work you do.
I am technically certified as a life coach, but I consider myself foremost an educator. I teach talented people how to stop being invisible by building social infrastructure. Whether you’re pivoting your career or starting a new life chapter, you can’t get there with an old map. I teach the social mechanics that allow you to start building the influence and optionality you’ve been missing.
What led you to start your business?
I was a stay-at-home mom for my son’s whole life. As he approached graduation, I knew it would be time for me to create something of my own. I started in interior design, but found I wasn’t quite fancy enough for the job.
I’m really good at creating a place where you feel you belong, but there’s not a big market for that. I have been a barber for well over twenty years and decided to turn that experience into life coaching.
I got my life coaching certification last year, and kind of stumbled around for a while trying to find my place.
What I actually needed to do was a lot of internal work about my worth and trusting myself. About mid-year, I had the realization that I connect people, and I had a huge click.
I decided to lean into that as my specialization and have been building since then.
What was the moment that changed things for you?
I started a community group last year designed to help people in my town meet their neighbors. It took off like crazy. One night, a few months into this experiment, I received a text with a photo of 27 of my neighbors at a trivia night, and I wasn’t even there.
And, in that moment, I realized, oh, this is what I do.
What are some ways your sensitivity shaped the way you run your business?
I get extremely overwhelmed by social media and it really can run me down.
In the beginning I tried to do all the things but last fall I made the choice to delete my instagram account. I keep a FB presence because I feel it’s almost like the modern day yellow pages, but I focus most of my attention on Linkedin.
I also don’t try to do videos anymore. I struggle a lot with them and don’t feel like it’s worth the mental expenditure it takes me to attempt them.
I just have to trust that my written work will attract who it is supposed to.
You think you are building a business but you are actually creating a new identity.
If someone feels like they’re too sensitive or too different to succeed, what would you say to them?
Nonsense. I would say they need to question whose definition of success they are subscribing to.
What helps you stay grounded or connected when things feel messy or overwhelming?
Box breathing. I usually take a ten-minute break in the middle of every day to recenter and refocus myself with that
What’s something you’re proud of?
I am proud of my resolve to keep going even when there is not a lot of evidence on the outside that this is working.
If you could sit down with the version of you who hadn’t yet started this journey, what would you tell her?
Oh, darlin’, it’s going to take so much longer than you thought, and you are going to go through a lot of things that test your resolve.
You are going to want to give up a lot, and you will have to dig deep into your reserves for the strength to keep going. You think you are building a business, but you are actually creating a new identity.
Lovely, and finally, my last question: what does “whispers of inner power” mean to you?
The tiny little voice I can hear if I really quiet myself and listen that reminds me what I am capable of.
Connect with Rachel
If you’d like to know more about Rachel’s work, connect with her on Linkedin.
You can also visit her website, where you’ll find her free Social Wealth Checkup to see where your network is strong, where it has untapped potential, and how to grow it for more support, opportunities, and ease in life and work.
What I love about this conversation is that Rachel reminded me that connection isn't complicated. We make it complicated.
She started a Facebook group with one rule: you have to live in the zip code. And watched strangers become friends who now snap pictures of each other at the grocery store. That's it. That's the whole thing.
And 400 members and 100 events later, she's standing on her soapbox saying: people are possibility.
I believe her.

Welcome to the Whispers of Inner PowerInterview Series!
Honest conversations with women reshaping the way we think about business & sensitivity.
We had planned to record the interview and then publish it here later, the same way I’ve been doing with my other guests on Whispers of Inner Power. But a few hours prior to our meeting, I thought, you know what, we’re both here, and I’ve been dying to try the live feature for months…
So here goes, my first live ever on Substack! And who else to do it with than with Claire?
What happened in the next thirty minutes reminded me why I started Whispers of Inner Power in the first place.
It’s never been about producing content or growing numbers. It’s the real conversations that interest me. Honest stories of women who are building something true.
During this interview, we talked about what it means to follow the breadcrumbs instead of the blueprint. About Substack as a place to actually play, not perform. About the moment Claire stood, pregnant, at a kind of crossroads and thought: this is not the other side of the mountain I imagined. About what it looks like to build an audience not by fitting a niche, but by slowly, patiently becoming more fully yourself.
We also got into something that I think will land for a lot of you: how highly sensitive women and neurodivergent women so often have this sense of being on the cusp of something, without quite knowing what they’re trying to say. And how the path through is less about strategy and more about finding safety.
In yourself, in your creative practice, in the spaces where your brain finally believes: I am safe to do this.
If you have been holding back on Substack (or anywhere for that matter), this conversation will be refreshing!
About Claire Venus

True freedom comes when you find your way towards alignment and authenticity. Everything then becomes an intentional choice. Every decision you make is in tune with your values and the direction you want to give to your life. With the happiness that you envision for yourself. But how could you ever aspire to be aligned and authentic if you don't know who you are? Human Design is one of my favorite tools for self-discovery and deeper alignment.

“I know what to do, I understand the natural next steps in my business, but I just don’t do it. Instead, I keep wasting time doing non essential tasks. I feel like I have zero self-discipline… I wish I knew how to change that. “
Sounds familiar?
Procrastination happens to the best of us, and believe it or not, it doesn’t always come from a lack of motivation or self-discipline.
In fact, more often than not, it comes from your mind perceiving risk, perceiving a gap between your self-confidence and your self-esteem.
It’s in that gap that Impostor Syndrome shows up and tells us things like “ Who do you think you are?” or “Nobody really cares what you have to say”.
Subconsciously, this makes us delay taking action so we will draw the conclusion that we’re lazy, or not self-disciplined.
Today, you’ll learn about what impostor Syndrome really is, why it happens, and simple powerful tips to shift your mindset and overcome it.
