The Mental Advantage. Effective mental strategies to eliminate skill, talent, predispositions and other innate qualities from having a tactical advantage over your success. Your mental approach is the game changer to take your dreams right to reality. Years of studying the greatest minds and the most accomplished human beings have led me to extrapolate mental qualities that can be applied at any stage and at any age in your life. It’s never too late. If you’ve been struggling with reaching your goals, it’s time for you to gain, The Mental Advantage.
You have a goal. You’ve created a great plan for it and you’ve begun to take action. Things are going well, and perhaps, you’re about to hit that mark. And then, boom! The most unexpected circumstance takes you right off course, and it feels like it’s too much to recover from. What do you do?
We’ve been taught over and over again about the importance of setting a timetable, once we’ve figured out our goal. And to some degree, we should have some idea of that in our mind. But don’t allow yourself to be disappointed if you don’t reach your destination by the time you had originally hoped for. Instead, focus on one thing, and your priorities will keep your eyes on the prize, regardless of how long it takes!
Les Brown introduced me to this concept. That life is a constant battle for territory. But sometimes we get caught up in literally thinking about territory as a physical place. But territory is everything that you want. All of your goals, ambitions and desires. And we need to keep fighting for those things. We need to know the truth of the Mental Advantage that we need to constantly fight that battle.
It’s human nature to get caught in the trap of feeling proud of ourselves for having done something great or accomplishing a goal we’ve been hoping to achieve. And then tomorrow comes...and the likelihood of having it all go to waste, is often very real and all too possible. The best strategy to avoid losing all of your momentum is to forget what you did yesterday. Act like you’ve accomplished nothing and that you still have everything to prove.
This can be one of the most important questions you can ever ask yourself. Question? Yes...this really boils down to being a question. It’s far from a statement. It requires honesty, self reflection and the willingness to ask more of yourself.
