Planning for a trip that you can make last forever? What if I told you that trip is within your grasps? Planning for 2 or more for a view on the shore? Look no further than Spartanburg, South Carolina! Plenty of space for the many and much needed ambience for the few, this Airbnb could be just for you. Hey guys! I know a lot of people have started using Airbnb and so have I! I love hotels don’t get me wrong but not all the time do we want to pay all of those expensive fees and have holds on our card while we are out visiting a new place. So I want to share with you guys my recent visit to an Airbnb in South Carolina. If you’ve read some of my other posts you know me and my family spent 5 days there this summer. During that time we stayed at a beautiful home in Spartanburg, South Carolina with our host Zachary. I found this home here on Airbnb while planning our trip. We had a group of 5 people and this home was more than enough space to keep us together, but apart so that we had privacy when we wanted it. It also had many areas for us to spend time together when we were ready. The patio was definitely our favorite area of the house. Shenon even went on to to describe the house as “one of the cleanest homes” she has ever visited when I spoke with her. The double patio was so beautiful at night with the little accent fairy lights that Zachary, the host, has put up. Not to mention Zachary was an amazing host! I can not stress this enough, he greeted us at the door, helped us bring in our bags, had chips and dip out for us, and gave us a grand tour once we got settled. It was truly heartwarming to meet another well rounded, intelligent person during all of the events going on in the world. He let us know that “no matter what guests come he aims to please.” He was not only a great host, but was also very knowledgeable about the area. Zachary was able to help us find some good spots to eat during our time with him. Recommending us to try one of “the best wing spots in town” as Tydus, another one of our guests, described it. He even gave us some pointers during our days that we would go out and explore the surrounding area. He even went out of his way to make me a happy birthday sign on my special day! This without question sold me on my experience not only in South Carolina, but with Airbnb as well. Some things that I would recommend to anyone who may be new to booking with Airbnb would be to know the difference of the homes that you are booking. When you are in the app you will find that the listings have different components to them. Some stating “whole home/house” or “room in home/house” by the owners. The difference is with the whole house listing the host will not be living in the home with you during your stay. Whereas the other allows for the host to rent out a room in their home and live there during your stay. I know what some of you may be thinking… that can awkward. I will be honest, it is, depending on what kind of person you are. If you are a social butterfly and love to meet new people and hear their stories then renting a single room while the host lives there won’t bother you. But if your a little more shy or just like your privacy, go for the whole home rentals. Either way you can’t go wrong! Hey, hey it’s Foodie Friday and boy am I excited! We went to Wisconsin and visited this cool hole in the wall called “Grateful Shed” in Wisconsin Dells. This is by far one of the most unique places for finding great food that I have visited! It has a huge truck as it’s sign so you will surely not miss it. It’s as colorful on the inside as it is on the outside and there are plenty of places to eat! When you get inside you are greeted by the bar and a massive Greyhound bus on the ceiling! You can eat inside the Greyhound and a few other smaller buses that have been repurposed in the truck yard as well. There are also 6 food trucks all serving different things with the first one being an ice cream truck right next to the door. There is something for everybody here but, I recommend starting with the pizza truck on the left side of the garage near the entrance. You can get a personal sized with anything on it or one to share! There is also a truck for Mac & Cheese, wings and even tacos. We had three street tacos, fries with aioli sauce and two personal sized pizzas. The tacos were amazingly juicy and came with all the good stuff inside. The fries with aioli sauce although very simply was one of the most flavorful dishes we had. The aioli sauce has become one of my favorites that I personally with I could take with me when I left. The two personal pizzas were practically perfect! The crust was soft and had the perfect amount of crunch and flavor I give it a 8.5/10 easily. No matter what you choose to eat the atmosphere is always what you’ll come for. With all the trucks there is also plenty of seating and in the summer, they open the garage door which is the whole front wall of the restaurant. On the patio they have games and even a fire pit for those long summer nights filled with drinks and friends. You surely can’t leave without tasting what they are shaking up at the bar. I had an amazing Long Island Iced Tea that complimented my tacos and fries with aioli sauce super well. Did I mention that my drink even came in a cup that I got to take home! My new favorite with their colorful logo on it. They also had some super cool stickers and shirts that you could get while you were there too!
