Hello beautiful people!
Welcome back to MindTalks with Imma on everyeveryng.
T...T...T...TGIF!!! Thank God It’s Friday!
Today is Friday, the first Friday in the second month of the second half of the year. And God is good people; we are in the 8th month with four months left to the end of 2021.
Can you believe that? The year just started a while back, and we are already counting down to the end of the year. God has been faithful. We’ve been here, surviving; it hasn’t been easy, but we’ve been pushing it. So, hurray to us, we are winning.
DO YOU BELIEVE IN SOULMATES?
Hello beautiful people!
Welcome back to MindTalks with Imma on everyeveryng.
TGIF! Thank God It's Friday!
Woo! I'm excited guys, today is the last Friday in July, and yeah, it's been a great month. I feel this month went fast like we just started July the other day, we just said 'happy new month', and now we're almost ending. Today is the second to last day, 30th July. Wow! That has been quite a month.
How are you? How has your month been, or how did your month go? Don't worry; we have the rest of the months to figure it out. So take your time, give yourself some break.
In today's TGIF episode, we are going to be discussing soulmates. I don't know if I have ever spoken about soulmates before, but I know I have written so much about soulmates. So today’s topic will be about soulmates. Is there anything such as soulmate?
Do you believe soulmates exist? Or do you think there is one person for you, there is that one person that has been designed for you? I think a soulmate is a person you can share your life memories with and build an unbreakable soul bond with. So, I'm going to go ahead and talk about the qualities of a soulmate or what it is to be like for someone to have a soul connection with a person.
Firstly I would say a soulmate can come in the form of a friend or a sibling, and in rare cases as a parent. Now some blessed people have their soulmates to be their partners.
Most of the times, when we talk about soulmates, so many people feel that soulmates have to be in a romantic relationship. Still, I think you can also find your soulmates in other people who share a different kind of bond with you. But then, finding your soulmate in your partner is a blessing, a different sort of blessing.
There is no actual test that will help you determine if you've found your soulmate or not. I think you have to know, and you have this conviction that they are the one for you.
Number one, I would say that they make you feel a different kind of calm. In cases of romantic relationships, there might be butterflies in your belly, flutters or having 'nerve shakes', but the calm is different. The peace they bring with them is irreplaceable.
I would say that a soulmate is a person that makes friendship easy and they are your friends, like your best friends. When we talk about the company, there is friendship, and there are like life-defining friendships that you cannot trade anything for. I don't know if anybody is coming to your mind where you have this friend you can never trade anything in the world for.
So, yeah, that person could come as a soulmate too. The friendship transcends beyond the feeling of being friends for the sake of being friends, it is something else where emotion is attached, and it transcends feeling and the connection is different.
A soulmate feels a different kind of empathy, and I know there are times when I'll fall sick, and my mom will call, even when I don't tell her or don't want to tell her, and ask, "What is wrong with you? Why are you not feeling fine?" And I'll be like, "I didn't even call you".
Most parents have that type of bond with their children that wherever they are, they can feel this jerk that something is wrong with their child or something bad or good is happening to their child. So yeah, that is one of the characteristics of soulmates too.
A soulmate respects you. I know it's easy to have a 'see finish' in a close human relationship, where the person is your friend, your best buddy; you've seen it all together, and you're like anything goes.
But a soulmate know their boundaries, and they know when to stop. They know how to reach you differently without sounding offensive or without trampling on your principles.
A soulmate is one you can share life goals with. This might come in the form of a friend or partner. You both don't have to be in the same field or agree over everything, but there's always this common ground you both find to understand each other; you both balance each other out.
Personalities and backgrounds don't matter because there is a common understanding for coexistence with both of you.
A soulmate is someone who challenges you because they want to bring out the best in you. This person is always present in your life to give you that little push when you need it. You know, there's this time in your life when you need that little nudge for you to do something; you need this touch or 'ginger' to make that life-changing move. That is what your soulmate is there for.
Finally, your soulmate is someone you can't fake it with. You can't; where do you want to start from? How do you want to do it? It's someone you can be yourself around, someone you can be comfortable with, someone you can do everything you want to do with and you still don't feel the need to change yourself or be modified to their taste.
These are a few of the qualities of a soulmate; someone who has empathy towards you, someone who is your best friend, someone who shares life goals with you, someone who wants to challenge you to be better, someone who is there both in the good and bad times.
Studies show that there are people who don’t believe in the existence of soulmates. Some researches show that those who believe that soulmates exist are likely to do well in relationships because there's always this psychology that you are always giving people the benefit of the doubt that they can have the possibility of being the one.
In contrast, people who don't believe in the existence of soulmates feel that it is too much responsibility to place it on someone's shoulders that they would meet all your life expectations.
I believe that you can get all that in one person effortlessly because their perspective is from the angle of being a burden.
One person can be all that for you, one person can do all that, but I also think you can have more than one soulmate. It's perfect when you marry one of them. You can have your soulmate as your sibling and as your spouse.
There are a lot of us who grew up with our siblings with whom we developed an unbreakable bond; that sibling you can call from any part of the world and reach out to them, and they will answer immediately.
While people argue about the existence of soulmates, I believe that they do exist, and you can have more than one soulmate; you can have more than one person who is reaching out into your heart; more than one person who understands your soul's language without the use of words.
As we are talking about marrying your soulmate, I believe relationships can be built to have a soulmate bond, especially in a romantic relationship. Instead of waiting around for your soulmate to tick all the boxes, you can also create a soulmate connection through intentionality; you both will be right there and be suitable for each other. All it takes to be soulmates is to be ideal for each other, and as both of you have put in the effort and have been intentional in understanding each other, the bond with develop.
Some think soulmates fall from the skies, you meet the person, and they know you, does this or that for you, but it's not necessarily like that. A soulmate bond can be built, and from there, it won't be seen as work anymore. It just flows on its own.
While reading, did anyone come to mind? Or did people come to mind? And you're like, "I think this person is my soulmate". You have to recognize them even when they are not your partner. You have to give your friends who go all out for you that credit to provide you with their very best.
They also deserve that type of love in return; instead of wanting it to be all mushy like in a romantic relationship, yea, that could work, but we should also appreciate it in those who love us down to our souls and are always there for us.
So yes, guys, do you believe in soulmates? What do you think about having soulmates? Do you think soulmates exist? If yes, do you think you can have more than one soulmate? 'Cos that is one thing I know people have a problem with understanding or accepting.
Have you found your soulmate? Let me know, guys.

LOVE POLL: WOMEN PROPOSING TO MEN
Hello beautiful people!
Welcome back to MindTalks with Imma on everyeveryng.
T…T…T…TGIF!!! Thank God It’s Friday!
Eid Mubarak to my Muslim brothers and sisters. I hope you had a joyful celebration? And by the way, my fellow non-Muslims, hope you got meat? ‘Cos, this is the big Sallah. They always tell us this is not the big Sallah; this is the small Sallah. But this one is the big Sallah, so hold them and get your meat.
In today’s episode, it’s going to be about answers from a poll I took. Some time ago, I put up a poll asking people’s opinions on women proposing to men. And I got a lot of hilarious answers. Some were eye-opening answers, some were like dropping hints or, you know, saying what to do, but they were also lovely. It was like a survey, and the results were awe-inspiring. I would say I was a bit fascinated; it wasn’t what I was expecting.
So getting right into it, the replies would bear just the first letter of names and titles attached- Mr., Mrs., or Miss because of emphasising from the point of view from which the reply is coming.
I got 15 votes; 7 people said “no”, that they have no business supporting women proposing to men. Three people gave a solid “yes, I don’t mind”, three men actually; yes, let her propose to me, I don’t mind; it’s going to make me love her more, or it’s going to make me take her more seriously. And five people said, “well, yeah maybe, they could try; or when they are proposed to, they won’t feel shy, or they could try proposing to a man”.
Here are some of the replies that had full explanations:
Miss B said, ‘I really don’t like this. The man may not be responsible for anything that happens in the marriage; he might not just be ready. It can create laxity on his own part such that he wouldn’t see the marriage as important. And most likely, he’s going to say no if he wants to be responsible for anything that happens or if he’s not interested in marrying me, but that’s painful. Instead of proposing to him, I would prefer we have a conversation about us and where we are headed and then hear him and talk as well, then watch how he’s going to act.’ Well, yeah, that’s true. I agree with her though not entirely because no standard says he would say no.
Mr B said, ‘I really don’t mind as long as I like the girl. Let her get it on.
Mrs M said, ‘LOL. I have one message for them; they are spoiling business for single ladies, ladies who know their worth’.
Umm… I don’t quite understand that. Does it mean that women who are proposing to men don’t know their worth?
Mr A said, ‘Please, I need a woman to propose marriage to me. It’s cool. Any woman willing to do that shows commitment on her side, and marriage needs commitment from both parties. Of course, for the lady to come and propose means, we’re both dating and not catching cruise and that we’re serious with each other. And if she comes up with the proposal first, then that’s beautiful, that shows we’re both on the same page, and I’m suffering for nothing’.
Okay, that is from the male point of view.
Miss O said, ‘As for me and my household, I’m not proposing to anybody. I can give him hints of what I want but not outrightly propose.’
Mr T said, ‘I don’t think I would like my lady to propose to me. I would like to propose to her myself. She’s a queen, and she deserves the royal treatment.’
Osheee.
Miss B said, ‘I think I can do it, as long as I’m sure he’s the one for me, I’ll go ahead and ask. Life is too short to waste precious moments.’
Well, yeah. I think so too. I believe life’s too short to waste precious moments.
We’re advancing now; things are changing, and instead of waiting around trying to drop heavy hints, ‘cos dropping marriage proposal hint is heavy. If you’re not having that discussion verbally and saying it the way it is or going ahead to ask him, then you’re going to be dropping hints, and these hints are like very heavy ones: trying to check out rings on shopping sites. Will he even know? So, I think times are changing now.
And from what I’ve read and from reactions we’ve seen online of how men react to women proposing to them, I think it’s cool with most men as long as they’re OK with the woman, as long it’s someone they want to be with or someone they love. They are not even going to mind. Some men don’t mind. They too want to be pampered and hear the “will you marry me” and all the mushy things said during proposals. So yeah, I think that you can propose to your man.
Personally, I’m not sure I can do the actual proposing, but I can have that kind of discussion that outrightly talks about where are we headed. But I don’t think it’s a bad idea or makes one look cheap or loose being the one to do the proposal ‘cos at some point you would have to clear up things and if you know, he’s the one for you, go for it.
Some might say they feel the man is too shy or constantly procrastinating or he’s always busy, but then, it’s a discussion worth having, and it’s either you have it as a proper discussion, or you get right into it ask him.
I had a reply from another Mrs M who shared a story she hadn’t shared with anybody before. That she was the one to propose to her husband, not with a ring, but she was the one to ask first, “will you marry me, will you want us to spend the rest of our lives together?” And he said “yes”, and he was very happy. It seemed as if she helped her husband talk the talk because of the way he reacted. He was so pleased, and then he went ahead to buy the ring.
Sometimes, some men need a little push or nudge to wake them up or point them in the direction you want them to see. Like yeah, this is what I want.
Do you still have any opinions about women proposing to men? Do you think it’s something you can do? Do you think it’s something you can accept as a guy for your lady to propose to you? Let me know in the comment section.

How I want to be loved
Key phrases: giving love, love languages, Being considerate
Hello beautiful people!
Welcome back to MindTalks with Imma on everyeveryng.
Yes, it’s Saturday. Quite an unusual day for podcasting, but you know, I mean, why not podcast when you have something interesting to talk about?
Well, yesterday on our regular TGIF show, I talked about self-love, and I wrote about self-love too.
So today, we’re going to be talking about how I want to be loved. It’s a love week, yes, yes.
How I want to be loved; how you want to be loved. You have to personalise it. And this is, particularly for relationships. Love languages apply to friendships too, yea, but I’m talking today about relationships. People who are in a relationship, you know, so it’s exclusive to just two people, between two people.
Some time ago, I was having a conversation with a friend, and he was telling me how his love language is quality time, and his girlfriend’s love language is receiving gifts. So his girlfriend is always buying him gifts because she probably thinks, if I like receiving gifts, then he should too, everyone should. I mean, who doesn’t like gifts. But he’s like, oh no, this is not what I want. With constant communication, it’s as if the girl changes for a while; then, she goes back to what she has been doing before.
And it reminded me of when I first read Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman; by the way, it’s a great read. It’s not just interesting; it’s very educational.
So he talked about the five love languages: quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service, physical touch and receiving gifts. He explained them and how they could apply to people in a relationship; he used marriage as his experiment.
Talking about quality time, a partner with quality time as their love language wants you to be present. That is why you see guys whose quality time is their love language say, ‘She’s not paying attention. And you are like, ‘But I’m here. He says, ‘No, you’re pressing your phone or reading something. Someone with quality time wants you to be there, quality over quantity, not just walking around the house but giving them that attention.
Partners with words of affirmation love encouragement want to be talked to, wants to be complemented, wants to be “vocal centre of attention”, sort of.
Someone with acts of service loves a thoughtful partner who puts in the effort, no matter how little. They like to see that effort; oh, you tried to do this for me; oh, you tried to clean the room; oh, you tried to do that. So they feel loved if they are thoughtful in putting in the effort to make life easier for me.
Someone with physical touch wants to be touched. It’s not all about intimacy. Someone with physical contact love language likes hand-holding, hugging, massage, head rubs, foot rubs, you know, just something that makes any part of the body touched. They feel, Ooh! You like my body.
Someone with receiving gifts loves language love gifts, especially women, but men love receiving gifts too. They feel, okay, you have me in mind; you saw this and got it for me, that means you have me in mind.
The essence of our podcast today is talking about how you want to be loved and know that you deserve to be loved how you want to be loved, not how your partner wants to love you that what we mistake most times. You feel that because physical touch is your love language, you want to touch your partner, and you forget that they want you to say things to them; ‘Don’t be touching me, say it with your mouth’. And then, it’s also applicable to those who have quality time as their love language and their partner has acts of service as their love language, you know.
Recognizing your love language, this is how I want to be loved and understanding how your partner wants to be loved too; ‘cos you love them how they want to be loved and they love you how you want to be loved, no in-betweens. That way, there’s always misinterpretations or misunderstandings in relationships because love is consistently far to reach, per se, when your partner does not love you how you want to be loved. You keep hearing, ‘I love you, I love you, but you’re not feeling it cos you’ve not loved the way you want to be loved.
Communication helps tackle this a great deal. But over time, I’ve also understood that it’s not just communication if you are communicating with someone who isn’t listening. It's not about saying it; it’s about someone who listens and puts it into action. Oh, he has made this correction that he wants this, she has made this correction she wants this, and you put it into practice. Because you’re communicating doesn’t make sense if the person doesn’t see the effort, it’s useless. So yes, know today that; number one, you deserve to be loved, that’s the main point, and number two, you deserve to be loved the way you want to be loved, the way you want to feel it.
Being considerate is something we should learn, and knowing that it’s a gradual process of understanding each other, falling in love every day with each other, ‘cos, there’s something new, no matter how little it is, that you learn about your partner and then you implement it. Being considerate to your needs and knowing that it takes time, it’s a gradual process until your partner knows the extent to which you’ll be loved, and your love can is full; you can’t know everything about a person.
Yes, guys, that’s for today’s episode.
Go forth, my darlings, spread love in your relationship, in your friendship, everywhere. But know that your partner deserves to be loved the way they want to be loved.
So until next time, guys, remember in the world where you can be anything, please be kind.

Hello beautiful people!
Welcome back to MindTalks with Imma on everyeveryng.
T...T...T...TGIF!!! Thank God It’s Friday!
I missed you all last week Friday. Your girl was down, and my body needed to rest. But I’m here with you now and with some juice. And on today’s episode, we’re going to be discussing * self-love. You all know all those nice things you do for others; it’s time to show yourself some love. Hold that thought; this is not about going to Dubai and shaking your ss on a yacht in a tong. Well, that can come later but first, let’s talk about taking care of yourself.
These include going for medical checkups, having a healthy skincare routine and drinking enough water. I know when I talk about going for medical checkups, you roll your eyes; like, what does a young, vibrant person like me need a medical checkup for? News flash: Young people slump and die too from high blood pressure. Some people rarely drink water; in fact, they drink water only when they eat, and that’s like 2-3 times a day. Aah! O wrong now. It would help if you were consuming up to 2 Litres of water every day to help your kidneys, but no, you only take 75ml ( that’s about one bottle of water).
Self-love goes beyond bodily appearance. When self-love is mentioned, cosmetic surgery comes to the minds of many ‘cos who feel it affects their self-esteem and confidence. Well, accurate, yea, but if you keep choosing those vanities over your health, one day, your health will determine the time and manner to rest. So the same way you save up for vacations and cosmetic surgeries, please save up for a whole-body check-up; check your kidneys, liver, lungs, heart. Make it a habit to check your blood pressure and blood sugar level.
Something just came to mind. A quick story: Some time ago, while working at the blood bank, a man came to donate blood for his sick brother. He was just 27 years, a businessman and very active. Now, routine checkups are usually done at the blood bank to certify that the donor is fit to donate blood before the donor becomes a patient. So this fateful day, I commenced the routine checks for this patient relative and found out that his blood pressure was high. No, he wasn’t even presenting any symptoms. He said he experiences light headaches once in a while, but it’s nothing random pain killers can’t solve. I checked two more times to confirm, but it was still the same; then, I referred him to the doctor. From other tests, he found out that he had a critical condition that needed his attention. He was taken care of, and the rest is history. Imagine if this young man slumps and dies one day on the road, the news would have it that it is a spiritual attack. Please take care of yourself, health-wise especially.
Self-love is never selfish, and you have to love yourself right before you love people around you. So yes, dear, make it a habit to check your blood pressure all the time. While you remind your old folks to check their blood pressure and blood sugar level, you should too. We consume a lot of things; you should check your blood pressure and blood sugar too. So, yes, dear, today, this Self-care Saturday is Health care Saturday. So move your body and go to the nearest pharmacy and check your blood pressure.

Today, we’re discussing about young and not getting it. The pressure on young people to grow up too fast is alarming. Teenagers now want to use iPhone 12 and 21-year olds want to ride the latest Benz models. Pretty awkward and unusual, but look at the times we’re in? You get my point. There are legal ways to make cool cash, I know, but it appears more to me that it’s only a few young people that actually want to put in that much effort into learning skills that could yield that kind of money.
I was talking with my friend, and he was telling me how his father didn’t care whether you want to become a footballer or a singer that once you’re of age and you’re filing your jamb form, they will tell you the course to study because it’s lucrative. There was nothing like passion. It’s all about being able to provide. It's even worse when they feel your passion is not tangible enough.
Why am I telling this story? Why am I saying this? I'm saying it for you listening to me. You might not have a cordial relationship with your father because both of you are always in disagreement.
Our fathers have this mentality to firmly setup their children to be independent. To the point that even as they are not there, you can be able to thrive in any environment. My father would always say, ‘nwuo kita inoruru onwe gi’ meaning ‘if I die now you will have to be on your own’. That is the mentality that pushes them to raise you to be able to stand for yourself.
Yes, my darling, please forgive your father.
I made a couple of observations from the posts on Father’s Day that I’d like to talk about.
Another lady wrote about how she was confused about how to feel about her father. Her father loves her so much, but he consistently hit her mother. So she wonders how to feel about him. Then we have to realize that being a good man; a good husband; and a good father are three different qualities. The girl in question was made to understand that her father is a good father but a cruel man and a bad husband.

Welcome back to Mind Talks with Imma on EveryeveryNG!! T...T... TGIF!!! Thank God It’s Friday!
You guys, do you know I went to buy plantain and the plantain seller said one finger of plantain is N400. No jokes; roasted plantain. Then I had to ask the lady, ‘If I finish eating one plantain for N400, what now happens?’ Because I need to know if I would be satisfied for like the next 3 days.
That’s even on a lighter note.
On a more heartbreaking note; I learnt that yam is now being sold in pieces because people can’t afford to buy yam in tubers anymore. That’s a gory reality of the extent to which we’ve descended in this country; that people can’t afford access to the simplest amenities- health, basic infrastructure, education.
Now staple food is being difficult to come by too! In some families now, two square meals per day is a luxury; even one square meal... enough of that now though, let’s not bore down the sad lanes further.
What prompted the topic of today’s episode?
I’ve heard a lot of people in relationships say things like, ‘You know this is how I am, you have to take me the way I am’. I mean, are you not supposed to be growing? In my opinion, I feel that is not love; because when you love someone, you would want to improve yourself for them.
Not necessarily for them, but you want them to meet you at the best version of yourself. Nobody is perfect but the time you dedicate to self- improvement is your superpower hack.

On today’s episode, we would be exploring a discussion on emotional intelligence in relationships. Emotional intelligence in relationships is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions in a positive way to relieve stress and communicate effectively.
It is the ability for you to empathize with others and today, we are focusing on the empathy your partner deserves in the relationship.
There are five steps to master emotional intelligence
One is self-awareness. When you are self-aware, you’re conscious of the impact of your actions on the emotional well-being of others. You know how to choose your vocabulary and words, and no matter how bad your mood is, you are totally in charge of your reaction and attitude.
Growing up, I had a really bad temper and after every episode of letting my anger control me, I regretted everything I said most times and wished I never got angry. Then one day I realized that people would always get on my nerves but the way I chose to react was what mattered. So gradually I taught myself exactly how I wanted to react whenever I became angry.
Note that this does not mean that I won’t react. The significant difference is that I would be in total control of how I reacted. Now gradually, I’ve learnt to extend this gesture to people around me, especially to the man I love. And this attitude is most important for you too with your partner because, getting mad and then blaming it on the way you are is not fair.
The second one is self-regulation. Now you are self-aware and you’ve laid out your principles, next is being conscious enough to regulate these principles. Here, you have to accept the changes you see; in relationships, you have to open up your mind. Leave room for growth. It’s not enough that you’re self-aware. You also need to regulate yourself or let a loved one help you.
Self-motivation: Being emotionally aware can be difficult at times. This is because just like one who goes to the gym if you lose your motivation and drive, you would most likely stop going. You need to motivate yourself daily- seeing reasons why you should be the best version of yourself to your partner.
Empathy is the one characteristic that is very important in emotional intelligence. You’ve probably have heard people say things like ‘you know I say things exactly the way they are’. This is how some of us have lost important friendships and relationships because, at a time when you really needed to be sensitive and filter your words, they opened their mouth wide and poured out everything tactlessly.
Fifth on this list is a social skill. Now that you’ve had empathy, you motivate yourself to be self-aware and regulate yourself; you also have to improve on your social skills; building healthy communication and making sure you are able to pass intended information across with intelligence and sensitivity.
Aaaand that is that for today’s episode.
Have you noticed that my episodes are no longer lengthy? That’s because I want you to enjoy it without taking so much of your time. I also want you to be able to personally share in my drifts too and relate to what I’m saying.
Yes, dearies remember to stay safe.
Remember, in a world where you can be anything, please be kind.
Hello beautiful people
Welcome to MindTalks with Imma on EveryeveryNG.
I’m your host and my name is Imma.
T... T... TGIF!!! Thank God It’s Friday!
You guys can tell I’m excited. Monday is a public holiday. The new day for Democracy day is now June 12. So, since it fell on Saturday, an official day to mark it has been set for Monday. Wawu! So, it’s going to be a long weekend and people will turn up to work on Tuesday looking like drunks and tired, and asking if they really need to keep the job.
Today is 11th June 2021 and in today’s episode we’re going to be talking about ‘thoughtfulness’.
The first reactions to thoughtful gestures are always along the lines of: ‘Oh my God! so you remembered. Oh my God! So you had that in mind! Oh my God! So, you didn’t forget!’. This is because thoughtful gestures are little things that matter to just you and someone takes note of them. Thoughtfulness is about more than being nice. You can be nice without much reflection or consideration. My friend said being thoughtful is about thinking situations through and choosing to react in a purposeful and loving way.
I had a poll across my social media platforms, asking some questions about thoughtfulness. I asked “What do you define as thoughtfulness? What does a person do to convince you that they are thoughtful? Are you a thoughtful person? Is thoughtfulness really difficult or is it a big deal? Is it necessary to be thoughtful?”
Before I start reading out the responses, have you followed EveryeveryNG on all our social media platforms? Please follow our Facebook page by searching and following EveryeveryNG. Follow our Instagram and Twitter handles @everyevery_ng and subscribe to our YouTube channel EveryeveryNG.
Yeah, we are back. I’ll be reading out some responses to the questions I had just earlier mentioned and one common thing with the responses is the fact that ‘it is a properly thought out gesture’. Here are some of the responses.
C said, “The only thing I can think of now is when my husband goes out of his way to do things that would have stressed me further at home before I come back from work. That is the only thoughtfulness that I have in my head”.
J said, “Thoughtfulness is about being able to think through situations considering other people’s needs and reasons behind their actions.” She also went further to say that she thinks being thoughtful is good but it should have limits. I asked her what having limits meant; she said because it’s very easy to take thoughtful people for granted thinking that they want something in return for their gesture.
N who exactly shares the same thought with me shared something. But then first let me share what F said about thoughtfulness being intentional in a positive way.
Continuing with what N said. N said “I can’t really define it but to me, it’s basically caring enough how things affect someone. It’s also remembering little things about someone.”
Personally, it is in seemingly little things. For example, I mentioned to a friend that there’s a scholarship I wanted to apply for. The next time we spoke, he asked how far with the application and I was pleasantly surprised because I only mentioned it casually.
Another example was some time ago when there was a crisis in Jos, I called a friend to know if he and his folks were okay and he was happy about that. Apparently, I was the only one of our mutual friends that checked on him. He wasn’t even sure others knew he was in Jos.
Then she answered the third question (Are you a thoughtful person). She said “I like to think I’m thinking to people I care about.” -Is it really a big deal? She said, “Yes, thoughtfulness can be difficult because you need to be emotionally invested enough in people to really express it. The way I see it, thoughtfulness is how you express kindness and care. And let’s be frank; our world is becoming more fast-paced day by day and we all have our own issues. So thoughtfulness is what you have to conscious effort to do.” And she said, “Of course, the opposite of thoughtfulness is thoughtlessness and also known as being a jackass.”
The selected responses are like mere highlights, others were giving more of their personal experiences.
I don’t want this episode to last too long. So... thoughtfulness is exactly what we preach on this show when we say in a world where you can be anything, please be kind. So I’m saying that again to you *In a world where you can be anything, please be kind *
Until next time stay safe
