It’s been a worry of mine for a while, but since hearing reports during the covid pandemic of so many people losing their sense of smell and taste I’ve been fretting more than I should about losing my own. If you’re struggling with anosmia (loss of a sense of smell), if you know someone struggling with the condition, or even if you’re worried about it then this episode is for you!
Mimi Ellis is an expertly trained coach and registered dietitian who specializes in helping people live with – and overcome! – their loss of smell and/or taste. This chat has been some time in the making, but I found it incredibly informative (I learned a lot!) and it has helped put my mind at ease. Give it a listen!
Last year I went looking for some closet therapy! I had a mismatch of items in my wardrobe with no clue of how to put an outfit together. I didn't know why I felt compelled to buy certain things (that all had a completely different aesthetic) and STILL felt I had nothing to wear!
That is until I came across the wonder that is Elle Lavon - personal stylist extraordinaire. She helped me understand my style personality, rejuvenate my wardrobe and actually feel excited about getting dressed again. And while a reinvented wardrobe can feel pretty great in the beginning, the real power is in the long change - that I now know how to dress for me and my personality and can feel confident in styling myself.
My conversation with Elle will not only speak to women who care about how they're showing up from day-to-day but it will especially help the graduates of my programs with the common side-effect of having lost a tonne of weight. The women that feel ready to break up with all that basic black clothing and reveal themselves to the world with confidence and spunk!
This episode is for any woman who wants their outer appearance to align with who they really feel they are inside and want to step out being true to their personality.
My 10th podcast episode is also my veganversary! I'm celebrating 15 years of living a vegan life and sharing with you the ten things I wish someone had told me before getting started.
Whether you're plant-curious, at the very beginning of your journey or even part-way along I hope that this honest share inspires and motivates you along your path.
One of my favourite questions I often receive is, "Is your husband vegan?" So, I decided to dedicate an episode to answering it featuring the man himself - aka. Beardo! But after many failed attempts at hosting the coversation, I had to call for reinforcement. Justine Dean, HELP!
I hope you are ready for some straight up vulnerability because you guys are going to hear it all.
I like to think of Justine as one of my best friends I’ve never met (in person, that is). In today’s podcast episode we went waaay over time discussing the importance of emotional healing, and the value of love languages.
Love languages are such an amazingly powerful concept that when you hear about it, and truly understand it, has the ability to literally transform your relationships. Have you ever considered that the way you express love is perhaps not the ideal way someone else wants to receive love?
Give this episode a listen. Justine is such a darling and an absolute fount of wisdom!
I experienced three pretty frightening health scares the last few years, and I thought it might be helpful to you if I talked about them. My hope is that I can inspire you to go get yourself checked out by a doctor if you have a niggle that's been bothering you.
That lump in your breast? Now's the time to go get it checked out! That weird-looking mole? Go get it tested!
It's all too human an impulse, to bury our head in the sand and try to ignore the problems we know we should be dealing with.
In today's episode I will share my story (stories, actually!) to hopefully show you that it gets less scary if you face your problems head on. I also share eight important lessons I learned during this process, lessons which will make it easier for you to follow through!
Remember: if something is wrong your situation will probably only get worse if you do nothing, and it will probably get better if you DO do something about it.
Stop listening to people who tell you there’s only ONE way to eat right.
In this episode I try to demystify the journey into plant-based eating by clearly laying out the three distinct stages of the lifestyle and explaining the natural progression of the journey.
Because once we understand that it’s a journey it becomes clear that it’s always possible to do better, and it’s never necessary to stagnate where you are. I hope this episode encourages you to experiment with the next stage in your journey!
I was privileged recently to work with Heather to help her accomplish a couple of health goals related to plant-based eating.
Our time together proved a massive success, as you'll hear in this episode. Not to give too much away, but she lots of huge amount of weight and got her cholesterol back into a healthy range, amongst other things.
One characteristic of Heather that really struck me during our time together was her determination. She really (really) committed to the plan we created for her, so I wanted to find out a bit more about what made her tick - and to get a better understanding of her journey towards plant-based eating - in the hope that it could inspire others to take the plunge to healthy eating.
Meal Planning isn't the sexiest of subjects, BUT it's life changing when you nail it.
Today I share with you my personal 4-Step System to break the weekly process down into doable actions to remove the overwhelm and make the end-to-end process sustainable.
Lastly, I cover my food planning tips that save me oodles of time (+ money + energy + waste) in the kitchen, and some that took me years to learn.
Did you know that you can prevent and reverse heart disease through diet? My special guest was lucky enough to stumble across this information which he says saved his life.
At age 58, Grant was rushed to hospital with a heart attack and was told he needed open heart surgery. By chance, he discovered the power of diet which reversed his condition. He was shocked that this information was not more widely known.
Grant was inspired to make a documentary - The Big Fat Lie - which details his journey back to health by following a whole food plant-based diet. It follows his quest for answers as to why government and medical guidelines don’t promote the use of such a diet given the evidence to support it.
Hear the topics I'll be discussing in future episodes and the tenets that underpin my philosophy of veganism.
