"Walking out of that office...the weight was gone."Simone tells her "Alma the Younger" story--knowingly going down a bad path in her youth, then eventually feeling perfect relief through repentance because of Jesus Christ. She shares her excitement for the doctrine of eternal families and urges us all to keep reaching out to the ones who are lost, never giving up on them."Having experienced life outside of the Church, and life in the Church, I can say from experience that I know that life is so much better. It's so much easier to handle trials. There's nothing that compares to the strength you receive when you have a relationship with Christ, when you are accessing His power, and when you have the guidance of the Holy Ghost. There are so many times in my life since coming back to the Church where I can just see--if I wouldn't have had my knowledge of the gospel, if I wouldn't have had the Spirit, if I wouldn't have had the strength that comes from the power of the atonement of Jesus Christ--I would not have been able to get through it. So I stay because I love Jesus Christ. I love what He's done for me. He's amazing. First and foremost is my love for God. That's why. But also, you can't beat the blessings that come from living the commandments! And they're clear as day. You can test it out for yourself. I know that obeying the commandments brings blessings and joy." - Simone WatsonIF YOU LOVED THIS EPISODE, WILL YOU SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD? In this episode, we fly back in time to one of my first episodes! Did you know I started my podcast for the Cambridge 2nd Ward while I lived in Boston?

It was 2020 and a whole group of new students were coming out to our area, hoping beyond hope that Harvard and the other schools would open up for in-person classes.

But without church or any meetings happening, how would we get to know all these new friends??

Thus, the Why I Stay Podcast was born.

Here's Jennie, a feisty fun friend from my days in the good ol' state of MA.

----Jennie describes coming up against persecution in Alabama, teaching a lesson in an Australian accent, and waiting 6 years for an adoptive brother to join her family."This Gospel is so true. This is what it's all about: God's family, God's children, being sealed together... That's what it's really all about for me."****"Why I Stay" is a faith-based podcast exploring the lives and experiences of members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. "When that depression comes, it's like, 'Wow, I really feel like I don't know what I'm doing anymore, and I need to figure it out.' But part of that is learning how to adapt. And for me, part of that adaptation came after many, many experiences of this over the years, ... trying to be in close proximity to people that I know ARE feeling the spirit. It helps, it really helps."

Jonathan talks about how belief can lead to action, and when someone is depressed, believing Christ through past experiences and believing in someone else's belief is a valid way to make it through. He talks about his divorce, and how he tried so hard to pray and qualify for blessings and his marriage still ended, and how a simple question from his seven year old daughter got him back on spiritual track. 2 Nephi 10:20 helps Jonathan ask, "What's next?" and gives him courage to bring others along with him, too.

"That's the cost of discipleship." Becca Obeng recounts a time on a NYC subway train when she was spit on, just for standing there with a missionary tag on. She talks about how her husband's reaction to their daughter's meltdown over a broken crayon gave her great insight into the Savior's Atonement, and how shining her light is something God continues to call her to do.Check out Becca's project, Becoming Undaunted on IGhttps://www.instagram.com/becomingundaunted/IF YOU LOVED THIS EPISODE, WILL YOU SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD? THROWBACK EPISODE FROM 2021!!

"Choosing faith is something that has brought me a lot of peace. ... Ultimately, no matter how you look at the gospel, eventually you're going to have to get to the place of faith: whether you believe it or you don't."

Lindsey relates that moving home to Tennessee for a few years and having discussions with her family helped her mature in the gospel, how learning about our theology encourages her to continue to explore the doctrine, and that the importance of "giving way" for the children has impressed her recently.

And when we get pushed beyond those thresholds, we really have to learn how to turn things over to the Savior."Curt talks about his skiing accident at age 18, leaving him a T4 paraplegic and how it forced him to navigate life in a whole new way, that his patriarchal blessing is the anchor that helped him have hope for a future and a family after his accident, and how a few scriptures, (Matt 11:23, Alma 26:12, D&C 122:7) help him see that with the Lord, it doesn't matter what fierce winds come against us, if we know that we are nothing, but with the Lord we can do all things, we can hold on the way and "fear not."

"[After my mother's death] I came home, and I had to go to church by myself with my kids every week, and I thought, 'I just don't think I can do it. It's just too daunting.' I just told Heavenly Father, 'I can't do this by myself. You're going to have to help me.'"

Thalia has experienced the heart-wrenching deaths of her mother and grandmother from cancer, and she shares her maturing process between those times, and how promptings from God helped her do what she needed to do, even when it was difficult. She shares about coming home after her mother's death, and that the grief and the "shutting down" made it very difficult to feel the spirit. She loves the scriptures and gives glory to God for how this Gospel has changed her life. Listen to the episode to hear how Jesus came through for her at her weakest moment.

Shannon speaks to her heartbreaking last few years, learning of her husband's betrayal and her mother's death from COVID, all within a few weeks. "Jesus isn't worried about messy or dirty situations. He knows the process of molding us will be messy and dirty."

"This is what it feels like to be in the hands of an Artist who knows what He's doing."

Madison explains how a prompting in 2019 to write about Jesus while reading the standard works stabilized her during the year 2020, that she has learned that questions are an invitation from God to step out of fear and doubt and into knowing Him better and into a different kind of relationship with Him, and that her word for this year, "molded," helped her understand how Christ works with us in shaping us, Jeremiah 18:6 "Just as the clay is in the potter's hands, so are you in my hands."

Kim relates how a prompting to serve her ministering sister lead her to decide to be brave and push past feeling insignificant, how four years of post partum depression and Christ's grace helped her rebuild with her broken pieces, and how 2 Nephi 27:23 fills us with so much hope to know the God we worship is a God of miracles, and we should expect them. Annie talks about having courage to follow through on her beliefs, noticing when something is spiritually "off" in her life, and how Christ shows us the way to prioritize people over to-do items.

"I know thousands of members resigned their membership as a result of it...I'm glad that I didn't do that because now I can keep working with the institution, and seeing what we can do to stay faithful and include as many people as we can."

Hello and welcome to the Why I Stay podcast!

My name is Lynzi Clyde and I'm on a mission to find out why YOU choose to stay in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

You'll see over the different episodes that the podcast has shifted in its purpose over time:

What started out as a way to bring my ward congregation together during the pandemic has transformed into something powerful and far-reaching.

With so many of our friends and family leaving the church of Jesus Christ, it can be hard for us and honestly, it's also really hard for them. And as we love them dearly, respect them, and hang on to them, it's nice to know there ARE others out there who are still true to their covenants and pressing forward despite difficult questions and struggles.

So instead of engaging with the nay-sayers on social media, I invite you to turn around and share your faith with us!

This podcast is YOUR platform to proclaim, "Why do YOU choose to stay in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints?"

We're everyday disciples with extraordinary faith.

Want to share your testimony with us? Or know someone who you'd love to hear on the podcast? email Lynzi at WHY I STAY PODCAST @ GMAIL.COM

And whether you're feeling strong in your belief in the Savior, Jesus Christ, or feeling like you're hanging on by a thread,

I just want to say:

Thanks for staying with us.
